Finally, a shiny new thread for Demios realmcrafting, for xGMs and PCs alike. Please post here with any ideas you have for our wonderful city, whether it be locations, events, or anything else you'd like to see. I want a lot of PC involvement in making Demios truly unique!
Saka is looking for a place to spar, so I wrote this, based on a name that I saw in the Demios town description. I didn't find any previous incarnations in my searches of the forum.
What do you guys think? Too cliche? I don't know, myself... I want some input before I post it.

"The first rule about the Dragon Warrior Pits is..."
Behind the Pleasure Quarter of Demios' town proper, there runs a dark, barely visible path that cuts through the Weaver's Woods to the base of the mountains. There, in a small cave, is where the Dragon Warrior Fighting Pits lay.
Every Aslanica darkening, a motley crew of men and women trek over from the town to the cave. They are old, young, rich, poor, businessmen, sailors, miners, unarmed, armed to the teeth. In the cave, each states his abilities and is matched up to a suitable partner. Each pair waits their turn for one of the ten pits, left over from an old mining project. The pits are about shoulder-high, easy enough to climb out of... but only the cowardly and weak do. The fights last until one fighter surrenders or the fight captain declares a winner at the end of five minutes. Some blood is spilt, but no one ever dies. That's what the captain say, anyway.
Fight captains, marked by their royal blue headbands, oversee the fights in each pit. They have the power to declare winners, marking the results on the big chalkboard at the back of the cave. A few medics loiter here and there, but most of the Dragon Warriors--as they call themselves--prefer to wear their scars and bruises as trophies.
The man overseeing it all, Kyriak O'det, watches everything from his veiled makeshift throne at the top of the cave. Rumor is that he was exiled from the Demios Training Grounds for killing his teacher. Rumor is that he is a follower of Jalat, encouraging men to speed up the judgement of their souls by proving themselves worthy in a fight. Rumor is that he has traveled all over the empire, searching for the best warriors so that he may kill them in battle himself.
The entrance fee is a minimum of 10 crowns, but men may bet as much as they like on themselves to win. The winner takes back his money as well as his opponent's bet.
"Dagger, huh? Do we have another intermediate dagger fighter tonight? All right, you two will fight in Pit 3." The captain by the entrance eyes the large crowd assembled at the cave entrance, matching people up. There is no coming just to watch... All who come must fight.
Name: S'det Kalisken Race and Gender: Nairu male Age: mature adult Physical Description and Behavior: S'det is a weathered warrior from the deserts of Arakmat. With his dark skin, hair, and eyes, he appears as almost a shadow in the darkness of the cave. He is one of the fighting captains, judging matches four cycles a month. On his cycle off, he can be found in the pits, facing off against fellow K'Tesh warriors. When out of the pits, he's all smiles, chatting it up with those who are waiting to spar next. But when engaged in battle, he is silent and deadly. History: S'det established himself in the Dragon Warrior Fighting Pits long before it became anywhere as famous as it is this brightening. He was selected by Kyriak O'det himself to act as a fighting captain. Skills: Lv3 K'Tesh Can this NPC be used by others in self-moderation? No

hrm no I think its good, I would use a diffrent image myself but that is just me. Its good and open with detail but not to much which would stop people from openning up. Maybe a set time when its open and close so people wont think its 24/7 or if it is tell them?

Hrm... Demios development. I absolutely love the fact that its got wild weather and moody atmosphere, yet its extremely hot in the summers and extremely cold in the winters. Now, as a PC, what I'd like to see for Demios is a reason why everyone is there.
Why are we here?
Sure, there is tourism but I'd like to see a bigger purpose. And Demios is unique in many ways because a lot of the PCs here feel a sense of purpose. Sometimes I picture the Island as if the denizens are the calm before the storm, quietly uniting. Thats not to say we are all good guys. But we are the land of Dragons! Lets play this up a bit. When everyone thinks Demios, they think dragons and volcanoes.
I think we should have a tourism industry based on those two factors.
As a PC... I think we need pleasure boats, yachts, sailing ships and kites. Lots of kites. I think we should have a black sand sandcastle festival.... cause well they are just cool. Everyone competes to build one, and the whole group gets to vote? Here's another thing... no ones done this before.... why can't Demios have some unique plants and herbs found only here that do wild things? Something about the volcanic soil... yaddah yaddah. I also think Demios should breed riding flyable creatures to tour the volcanoes from the air. No one else does that... pick something, have them for sale like spiders.
Gemstones. I think we should have a unique great variety of gemstones from the mines ... unique stuff found no where else.
I picture Demios also having a lot of birds. How about a feather industry? You want a unique feather, Demios can supply?
These are 4am in the morning ideas after no sleep. Take them with a grain of salt, but just thought I'd throw them out there.
I mentioned that it was only Aslanica darkenings. Hopefully people will catch that. As for the picture, when I search for 'fight' or 'spar', they're all wearing padding! That won't do. :P I want blood! If you can find a good picture, I'd be happy to consider it.
I love the celebrations based on a city's uniqueness. I'm still in the process of digging through old threads for city history and past events, so I'll see if I can't find something along those lines: black sand, weird plants, volcano-related stuff. I'll look into all of Visk's ideas in my tour of Demios' old threads, and report back.
I think Demios would offer some of the coolest wildest things of life due to hardly anyone has realy looked at all of the island. Large birds of diffrent colors, Gems due to the heat of the volcanos that can be found no where esle of diffrent sizes, feels, colors.
Yeah same ideas as Viskyia but making more mental notes then anything. Plus Saka has a cool quill that he got on Demios due to an large bird sop hence why I am adding them :P
Would either of you like to start compiling a list of fauna and flora? I've been meaning to, but I'd appreciate a headstart or helping hand. You can go through old threads especially and see what kind of beasties the previous mods threw at PCs in adventures. Included are the dragons/drakes (I have those covered in a thread I'm doing with Straylor), big exotic birds, mountain goats, killer spiders... and plant-wise, I'd like to have a reference for what herbs and plants are available, since we have Joyau and Ariston among our citizens now--they're healers/herbalists.
Visk, I'd appreciate your help especially in thinking about what kinds of gems would be available in the mines and volcanic regions!
Soon, I'm going to rewrite the Demios office of tourism to include a lot of the ideas that Visk mentioned in her earlier post.
heh yeah Saka is not a big healer even if he does know it, its more of just for him and his family, Yeah I can do a few more hours of research but downside is I dont think many mods really poked around the ideas like that in threads but I shall look at every thread ever made
I'll definitely work on a list, Whisper. However, I think its safe to say that Tears of Ioannes Stones are found offshore I bet Firebird would love to help too!
Creature Name:
Try to keep it short, one to three words works best.
Abstract Description:
(Possible origins, over-arching ideas.) This may include historical knowledge of the creature, myths and/or legends.
Physical Appearance:
(And biological characteristics) Are there special physical aspects to the creature that deserve mention? This is where they go. Detail is important here as vague descriptions leave too many holes to be filled in later.
Climate/Terrain:
(Under what conditions and where can this creature be found?) What is the creature's habitat like? You should probably keep this part in mind when developing the physical appearance as many creatures evolve and adapt to their environments.
Organization and Lifecycle:
(Social Organization and Stages of Life) Does the creature roam in packs or is it solitary? Are their differences between genders and do the genders play different roles in their social organization? Are there significant changes in the creature's behavior and relationship to others of its kind from birth through adulthood? This section can be filled with immense detail if desired but at the least, some idea of how the creature is organized socially is required.
Diet:
(What does it eat?) Is it a carnivore? Herbivore? Or something else? If it eats meat, that is fine but tell us of any specific prey. Are there special tactics it may use to catch its prey?
Combat:
(Mechanisms of Aggression) This is mainly for non-magical type attacks or defenses. How to do they defend themselves? Do they have any specialized method of attack such as talons or claws; tusks perhaps? Any natural body armor or thick hide?
Special Abilities:
(Including Magic, if Any) These are things that do not fit well into the combat section or may be of use other than strictly for fighting. Maybe the creature can fly or is capable of using some form of specialized arcana or pseudo-arcana. Pseudo-arcana for the purpose of beasts includes things such as fire-breathing or electrical charge for example. Is it poisonous? Does it spread disease? Get creative with this section but be sure to detail any new unique aspect you come up with as if presenting it to someone who knows nothing about it.
Inherent Resistances and/or Immunities:
Is the beast resistant to some element? Is it immune to things such as poisons or diseases? Try to avoid resistances to arcana and try to limit immunities to one or two.
Other:
Anything that doesn't fit in above should go here. Examples may be how the creature is used by humanoids; perhaps they are considered livestock by some races. Are there possible military uses? If several ideas are put here, you may want to label them with a section heading that is appropriate.
Trade:
Are there any possibilities of trade being associated with the creature? Is it something that is considered a pet and may be marketed as such? If they can be bought and sold, this would be where to address that. Are there items that can be made from the creature or parts of it?
I sigh, I want to spend more time with this project yet I dont want to give up my modding nor quests I have in mine for Pcs, Aelyira needs more willing agms I say 10 for each city but that wont happened.
It seems few mods really add plant life and that is a shame as I can think of some cool plant ideas, So I will make an template for plants and just post them here, I dont feel like dealing with the world forge truth be told, I dislike it when there are tons of people poking at something that is really only meant for one place you know yeah I am selfish right now.
Xavim, why don't you do this. Set yourself some limits.. like one adventure thread at a time, maybe two or three training threads tops, and one animal or plant a month...
That way you make slow steady progress, but don't get overwhelmed? Also, you can get players to submit plants and animals for you too. I think it would be really cool to see a lot of exotic butterflies here.
Can I just check - are we looking only for plants`/ animals previously used, or are we writing up stuff that would be there and just hasn't been mentioned? Because my lovely wonderful new husband is (or used to be) a horticulturalist and owned his own plant nursery thing. Consequently, he knows a big lot about plants, so I can draft him in for help in this.

I would LOVE new ideas to be written up! Demios is absolutely a place where I would see wild, unheard of things growing and roaming rampant around the forests and mountains and beneath the oceans. Go for it!
I bet Firebird would love to help too!
