A Journey Under The Water (PM for invite)
Timestamp: 30th of Kalendryas, Era XV, PA
Ceniel sat upon the beach with his hand in the sand. Morning Star had gotten tired and was grazing nearby. It was colder here than it was inland, but Ceniel didn't mind too much. He was only freezing. It wasn't one of his best ideas to leave Trysvale without warmer clothes. Yet he was oddly comforted near the ocean. The call of gulls from above met his ears. Ceniel lay down on the sand and looked up at the crystal clear sky. A wave nealy hit his foot and he schooched up the beach. I wish I could breathe underwater. He thought idly. Like the sea elves can, wonder if any are in the water... He looked into the ocean, Guess not.
Ceniel turned onto his stomach and faced the ocean. It was cold out but the ocean was still beautiful. Wish Ravathyra was here. Wonder if she is doing that druid training she talked about. A seagull landed in the water and plucked it's feathers. I need to go hunting, my supplies are getting low. Foraging would be good too. Yet he stil didn't move from where he was. If someone walked by they might think he was dead. Morning Star did atleast. The horse came over and attempted to flip over Ceniel ith it's head. Ceniel started laughing and turned over and scratched the horse on the head. "I'm fine Morning Star."] He said in his native tongue. The horse whinnied and went back to cropping grass.
Turning back over Ceniel gazed into the water. A fish jumped out and a gull quickly attempted to catch it. The seagull splashed into the water but missed the fish. Wish I could go swimming but the water would freeze me within minutes. He picked up some sand and let it drain between his fingers. If I could only stop the water from touching me... Ceniel jerked his head up and looked at the water. "If I could Alter the Force Shield spell I might be able to prevent the water from touching me!" He said too himself with an excited tinge to his voice.
Ceniel rearranged himself into a sitting position. He would need to Alter the spell's density and change it's normal ability of blocking blows into blocking water. Ceniel drew a few figures in the sand and thought for a long moment. He would need more air and therefore would need to increase the shields radius. If he could change the weave to stop water instead of attacks and diverted the extra mana to expanding it he might be able to pull it off. Ceniel checked the figures in the sand and erased them. Now he just had to test it.
Ceniel closed his eyes and breathed deeply. He listened to the ocean waves and let that be his base for his breathing. The waves came in he breathed in. The waves went out he breathed out. Slowly he descended into Clara. Ceniel opened his eyes and water the ara float by. He looked over and saw his horse grazing it's vis lines visable but difficult to decipher. Turning his attention back to the ocean he examined the ara over it. He guessed that the ara over the ocean would have some water essence in it, or ocean essence or something like that. He tentaively reached out with his vis and tried to gather it in. His green vis reached out of his hand and wrapped around the bluish silver ara. As they touched they started to mix. Quickly he gathered as much as he would need for an apprentice spell and mixed it.
The world seemed to melt before his eyes as his mind flew along the pathway that sent him to the Astral Plane. Suddenly he stopped. All around him was a plane of existance few ever saw and almost nobody had physically been there. Ceniel floated Astrally for a second before he took off to the Plane of force which was within the Astral Plane. The closer he got the more the Astral Plane changed. It was turning a pruplish color and random bolts of pure energy were streaking through the air around him. His form stopped as he reached the Plane of Force.
An infinite amount of mana floated around him. Each tendril of it weaving it's way into the whole, always combining and seperating. With a few quick movements Ceniel had gathered the mana around him into a ball which he would be able to take back to the Material Plane. He knew time was standing still for everyone back on Telath and decided and wait a moment. The roiling clouds of force changed shape and shifted. Always flowing chaotically but somehow having some sort of underlying order in it. With a thought Ceniel let himself return to Telath.
The roar of the ocean met his ears as a particularly large wave crashed aginst some rocks farther up the beach. With a deep breath Ceniel felt his body wrap around him like armor keeping his mind and soul safe. His eyes stilll closed Ceniel looked at the orb of mana he had taken from the plane of force. It was continually changing it's shape. As he watched it became a cloud then what looked like a rock of some sort and then another orb of mana. He exerted his will upon it and it immediatly ceased moving. With careful hands he wove the spell in his mind into a Force Shield spell. Then with a deep breath he began to unravel the parts he didn't need.
The first thing to go was it's ability to deflect attacks. Then it's shape. Now all that was left of the weave was a basic structure that he had left alone. With the mana he had taken away Ceniel carefully wove mana around the basic structure with alteration. He first made the spell able to hold back water instead of attacks. Then with a few changes he made it have a 3 foot radious around him. With a few stretches he made it into a sort of bubble. He examined the weave and tidied it up a little. With a last look over he released it onto himself.
Ceniel opened his eyes. He knew he had cast the spell but he didn't know if it had done what he wanted. Standing slowly he took another breath and stepped into the water.
OOC: Wow that was a long post. Alright anyone that wants to join just PM me.

“It won’t work,” said a cheerful voice from behind him. “You walk into that water, and you’d better have gills.” Turning, Cenial spotted a small Gnome standing just at the water’s edge, clutching two strange-looking masks in each hand. The Gnome’s pants were rolled up to his knees, and his bare feet wriggled in the cool water. “Magic is so unpredictable. Technology, now…” He tossed one of the masks towards Cenial, chuckling softly as he tugged the second over his head. “You can do all sorts of things with technology,” came the Gnome’s muffled voice. “These Aquamasks, for example, will let you breathe underwater, but won’t expire. My own design, too boot!” he added proudly, splashing toward the deeper water. “Thanks for helping me test them out!”

Ceniel turned and tried to ask the gnomes name but was interupted. He caught the mask and said "But i didn't...." The gnome interupted him again and walked into deeper water. With an audible sigh he put the mask on and took a breath. After making sure the mask actually produced air he dived into the water fully clothed. Hopefully the spell would atleast keep him from getting wet. He swam down and then looked around for the strange gnome.

The water enclosed the Elf, leaving him in a completely different world. The mask let Ceniel see clearly, as long as there was adequate light. Light played off the sandy ground in shining lines, reflected through the water. Fish swam up and darted away, sparkling in the light. Of the Gnome, there was no sign. The Elf was just getting used to the mask when a hand settled solidly on his shoulder, spinning him around. A creature, Humanoid in shape, swam directly in front of him. The thing had a piscine face, and his entire body was covered in dark scales. Rubbery lips peeled back to reveal sharp fangs, and the spear in his other hand glittered as he readied the weapon, preparing for a killing blow.

Ceniel smiled in the mask. Look at all the fishs! The thought was childish, but it was his first time being underwater. He swished his arm experimentally and quickly transferred his knowledege from holding his breath to using the mask and swimming. He tapped his clothes and grimaced. He was wet, and he would probably freeze to death when he would leave the water. Maybe if...
Ceniel felt himself be spun around and looekd up into an unusual creatures face. Without hesitation he twisted in the water drew his shortsword and hit the creature in the side of the head with the pommel of his shortsword.

OOC: You may post you TRIED to hit the creature, but you can’t say you DID, especially since you’d have absolutely no experience fighting underwater. Watch your bunnies.
IC: The creature flicked its webbed hands and swam backwards, easily dodging the Elf’s clumsy attack. With a giggle, the mask and rubberised suit fell off, revealing the Gnome under the creature’s “skin”. The small man was laughing loudly, the escaping bubbles leaving his aquamask to float to the surface. With a hand gesture, he gestured the PC to head up to the surface.
Once on the surface, the Gnome was still laughing as he took his mask off. “You shoulda seen your face!” he said with tears streaking down to mix with seawater. “I thought you’d wet yourself!” With another laugh, the Gnome turned and paddled for shore, leaving the Elf alone with his thoughts. “By the way, as a thank you for helping me test it, you may keep the mask!” he called back over his shoulder, before walking onto the sand and heading off into the darkening.

OOC: sorry
IC:
Ceniel tried to swear at the gnome but had somehow gotten water in his mask. He went to the surface as the gnome did and watched him leave saying he could keep the aquamask. WIth a sigh he put the mask back on and dove back down. He might as well swim underwater, he had gotten a waterbreathing mask after all.
Swimming down Ceniel felt the water slide by his body as he continued to swim forward. It was an ardourous task as his clothes weighed him down. When he hit the flor he swam out a few more feet and looked around. It was impressive to be down here.
