Posted February 6, 2010 at 08:01 AM by Luminor

Expectations.

Questions. Problems. Conundrums. Dilemmas. A puzzle box. The Gordian Knot.

People seek answers, solutions, panacea, resolution, a cutting of bonds and ties and shackles, a loosening of restraints and restrictions.

Most people generally know what to do. But telling them "why did you ask the question when you already know the answer?" provides no solace, no closure.

Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Lot's wife...

(Not So) Amusing Anecdotes from the Classroom

Education is what is left after all that has been learnt is forgotten.
- James Bryant Conant -

A collection of my more amusing stories after a year of teaching college chemistry.

Halfway into the semester and after a dismal performance on two exams: "I didn't think you were actually serious when you said we'd have to study outside of class."

After including "bring a calculator" on the class syllabus and having stated it for...
