Adoptions Gone Wrong

Posted August 24, 2015 at 10:16 PM by Nimh

I'm frustrated. I apologize to those who have to keep hearing about his topic but it's presently driving me insane.

Almost 4 months ago my husband and I adopted a second dog who we named Floki, a 1 year old beauty of a mutt with a happy personality--he just loved everyone he met. We adopted him after a meet and greet with our girl Georgia. It went all right. They walked great together and could stand to be directly next to each other. But there was a catch--let them off leash or really...

Why I Will Never "Maintain a Spoiler Box"

Posted June 10, 2015 at 07:42 AM by Nimh

There's been a growing rash of these lately--"maintain a spoiler box." I won't point fingers. Most of you know the "culprits" anyway. This isn't me trying to harass you to change your policies--you won't and I frankly don't care.

But I'm going to say it now and then never say it again, complete with full disclosure of why I think they're the laziest moderation device ever: I will never ever maintain a spoiler box throughout the duration of a thread. Ever. Ever....

Posted May 17, 2015 at 06:10 PM by Nimh

So I was poked over PM about whether or not I had adopted a dog yet and the answer is...

I have...!

Many of you (from chat) already know that. We ended up adopting the brown & white 10 month old that my husband really was excited about. Dog Adoption Fun

Posted April 29, 2015 at 08:35 AM by Nimh

So it's been a while since I've adopted a pet. By adopted I mean actually went through the motions of putting in applications for a creature and waiting anxiously to hear whether or not we've actually been approved. Which, honestly, is not something that I ever really had to do. When I got my cats it was a formality that didn't really seem to impact anything. Want a cat? Okay, here you go! The same thing with my rats. I knew I wouldn't have any problems there. Adopting Georgia was the easiest of...

The Truth About Euthanasia (Veterinary)

Posted April 9, 2015 at 02:08 PM by Nimh

As many of you know, I am presently employed as a Veterinary Technician at an animal hospital. It's not my first career and it certainly won't be my last (it's too physical of a job for it to last too long beyond 40) but it's a career that I thoroughly enjoy and take a lot of pride in. There's something to be said about a career that actually makes me think, where I'm on my feet all day and doing something physically. Not to mention, I get to save lives and, occasionally, play with kittens and puppies...
