As moderators…and sometimes as pcs, we have a lot of experience dealing with non-player characters.

As a GM, I create every npc in my city for a purpose. Some are disposable npcs…meant to keep track of a store or some purpose that I don’t have the time to flesh out. I might get around to it…I might not.

Then there are the npcs that major characters within the city. They have plot…characteristics. They are, for lack of a better term, alive.

All npcs that I create are like my kids. I build them from the ground up. I know their stories…I know where they are going. I get equally involved in npcs for my pcs because often they help define the pc. Also, it’s easier to write for they if you have fleshed them out intimately…they take on a life of their own.

NPCs are essential to everything we do as moderators and pcs…and there is really no purpose to this blog other then to say that I love my npcs. They are my babies.

i agree. especially when your NPC becomes someone else's pc, then you feel a certain level of pride... but also a bit of jealousy cuz hey that could have been my cool pc, but i know what u mean
