Thank you!

Someone bought Ody a companionship today. I would like to thank my mysterious benefactor for the unexpected gift. You can PM me at any time if you'd like to share your identity. It makes me very happy that someone values my contributions (and basically the single thread - End-Game - this PC is in atm), though I also feel slightly embarrassed about it, silly as it may seem. Mostly because I get free Companionship because of Directorate benefits, but I cash it all in with Amelia, who has gotten much more screen time for... a year now? Maybe longer.

In a way, Ody is a victim of his own Arcana. My growing bored with it and the absence of Robyn due to RL situations have made it so there hasn't been a real drive to play him outside End-game. What Ody lacks at the moment is purpose; outside of surviving his Rhasic curse and the attacks of the Sanguine and their Virkyn fleabags, he's a bit like a tourist in his own world. I wouldn't ever retire him, but I do wonder what could give him new purpose. Robyn's player once suggested that I should have him hit a plateau with his Mysticism so he'd have an excuse to do something else... but what? The silly mage is way too quirky for his own good... and his personality is a block of granite, a self-consistent monolith. I know one of my favorite mods ever let me have my way in a thread at some point because she was tired of arguing with Ody endlessly to no avail. *chuckles*

Going Archmage doesn't have a lot of appeal, either. The only thing I'd really like to do with it is create a new PC race from an animal species, Katta-style. But other than that? I have no interest in joining the nuclear club, either IC or OOC. Duncan did have a lot of things to do with his Mysticism, but Ody isn't really that kind of meddler. He doesn't have the patience, and he hates mind-reading (it makes him feel sick... minds are so dirty.) I just realized he's more like Merlin in the movie Excalibur... iron calotte aside!

So this leaves me with a PC who is putting his life on the line to save two million people. He might die, truth told - the idea of using his own cloned mind to handle the fifth mana shaping technique is the most dangerous thing he's ever done (though, sadly, inspired by Japanese manga/anime; I wonder if anyone can figure out which.) What next?

When I started him in 2003, total newbie that I was, I only set three things in stone - that he was smart, curious and relying on himself alone. Other than that, Ody was a blank slate. This is a striking contrast to my gal Amelia, who had a rather detailed description and goals from the start (though I couldn't have imagined she would take the drastic moral turn she did.) Then again, I felt I had to, because roleplaying the other gender takes quite a bit of insight. Not that Amy is a particularly average member of the female reign, but still, there is method to the madness.

But back to the original topic - the witch will have her own blog entry at some point - now that I have a companionship again, I really have to do something with the sweet-obsessed Mage. Any suggestions?
