The Enemy of My Enemy (Riconus & Avanthar)
Timestamp: To be determined by the Game Directorate. Certain FT conflicts in regards to the inception of the Sapphire Guard and the second Imperial response to Paxia make a timestamp unattainable for now. However, this will be editted the moment the GD makes its decision
---
Riconus had dealt with many a secretive man in his lifetime, but none more so than the infamous Dra'aran. In truth, though Riconus never knew it, he was the reason that so many had flocked to the Sapphire Guard for protection; why Paxia had burned to the ground, and why a group of orcs now rumuged the streets of a once vibrant Imperial city.
But all of that failed to matter. This meeting was not to host a debate regarding the arguements for Paxia's collapse, but instead, to broker an unusual peace between two very different characters. So long as they both understood that they shared a comon vision, even if for different reasons, such an alliance would mean a great shift in the direction of the Empire, whether those in the top echelons of power approved of it, or not. Alas, after so many patterns serving the Allerian Crown, the respect that he had been accredited for so long had begun to dull; the voice of reason in those superior to his title had begun to grow silent. Eventually, his attempts to rid the cancers of these lands were told to deaf ears, and individuals as skilled and ruthless as Avanthar became the greatest tool a man like Riconus could employ.
As such, came the requirement that Riconus Xind'ell and Avanthar Dra'Aran finally meet. The Syl'rosyan general stood in the open fields well outside the walls of Vortex, where there was no where to hide in the vastness of the Highlands. Surrounded by the cold dead of the darkening, the moon had nearly reached its Zenith by the time the meeting was set. He came alone, with a half-finished cigar peeking out Ric's mouth.... and simply waited.

There were few who could remember the name, Darksoul, and fewer still whom knew him by face. Once a dracon of many mysterious abilities, his return to the world of the living had brought changes… he was a new face in the battle between powers. There were always those in the world whom sought these men and women for their own personal needs, and he knew it… how Riconus had managed to contact him was a mystery…he was a ghost that left no trail.
Vortex was his birth city, but that was nearly half a century ago. The city itself had changed as much as Avanthar had, for in his youth he had fought against the invading Imperial army upon the very walls, and beneath he had struggled against the 2nd House, decimating the Matron and her lackeys for an untimely betrayal against his brothers… Riconus was in danger no matter what his motives were. The general had invited death.
A cloaked figure emerged from the darkness, upon the black shadows of the walls he appeared as if from thin air. The already cold air seemed to bring forth an unearthly chill as the figure stalked the great plain without fear, without fault. His visage was hidden beneath the shadows of his great hood, yet from what Riconus could see he was broad in shoulder, a man of danger no doubt… one that brought an uncontrollable chill..
Stopping meters before him, Riconus noticed a hand placed lightly on the hilt of a great sword hidden at his side, whilst the air around seemed to distort, the faintest echoes of the dead crying seemed to be carried through the night winds. The black figure said nothing as he waited, yet there was no doubt its eyes were firmly set on him… was this the almighty Avanthar?

The chill in the air was certainly noticed, but Riconus' face remiained motionless, safe of feeling or thought. And in a moment, he appeared. As he said nothing, the silence was shared between Riconus and this... man, for lack of a better word. It seemed like eternity passed before the Syl'rosyan froze his sights to underneath the person's cloak, and finally began with a...
"Lord Dra'Aran, I presume?"
An already lit cigar in his right hand was indulged for a moment to get the blood flowing in his veins again, the feint sounds of the dead almost met with an impressed gaze upon his face. He was certain that neither of them wanted to enjoy idle chit chat, so he moved straight to the point.
"Whether or not you are, you seem capable of fulfilling my needs. Certain soldiers within my army, the Sapphire Guard, were routed Paxian civilians and militiamen. They claim to have seen a daunting individual, coiled in dark tendrils. The Aeternia you raised that brightening put fear in all, which made my efforts to assemble a force all the more easier considering the threat that you posed for them.
I suppose, you have my gratitude for that.
Others in my army come from battles in Zerdargia and Narim, and share similar tales, so it is all too clear that your need for bloodshed truly knows no bounds. With that said, perhaps we can assist eachother. If you're interested, my men will be free to plunder a city and gain priceless fame and honor, and you will receive a permenant dwelling, blind from Imperial eyes, where you can raise your own armies and forge your own city, people, and even religion- not to mention a river of gold show it be required to finance your endeavours.
If this does not interest you, I can leave right now."
His face remained like stone, taking another puff of his cigar. His other hand fell idle on the hilt of his blade as well, but no attempts to withdraw it from its scabbard were made. He only stood casually, slightly leaning on his left leg, waiting for a response.
