Kittens Available for Adoption! [Open]

The First Cycle in Ioannes, PF XVI
Chronosynch: The Longest Winter

Aydyn had begun to put the word around that her kittens were now available for adoption. She could understand that now might not be the best time for such a venture, given how some people might be struggling to provide for themselves much less a second mouth. But her kittens were available now for people to adopt and love...and Aydyn was certain that a little more extra space in her own household might be welcomed; she'd learned her lesson--she'd spread the litters out from there onward.

In some places she posted the advertisement, in others she vocalized it. But it all boiled down to the following:

Kittens Available at Catnap Cottage

Flower Weaver Kittens
  • 2 Females, 40 crowns each
  • 3 Males, 30 crowns each
Alicat Kittens
  • 1 Female, 50 crowns
  • 2 Males, 40 crowns each
Palm Kitten Kittens will be available in the first cycle of Imperos.

Catnap Cottage, aptly named for the variety of felines within the household, sat quietly out of the way in the Carmelya's Garden District, a three story glassy stone household enclosed on all sides by stretches of woodland. Dirt pathways meandered through the trees and cut through the grass to approach the spiraled piece of architecture, its cone-like body a marvel to its owner the first time she had seen it and somewhat odd to look at by those who might not be terribly familiar with local buildings.

The 'cottage', if one could call a cone stone building a cottage, was surrounded by and large by grass and gardens, for Aydyn had gone out of her way to ensure that her living space was inhabited by as much flora as she could manage. Flowers, local and otherwise, lined the dirt path, each carefully attended to by the Druidess so that those not native to the area could thrive in the subtropical, rainy weather. A few trees dappled the yard, providing shady spots for people to come lounge beneath when the suns were at their brightest--and their hottest.

One pathway curved around the house to the back, this one a trifle wider, the hoof-impressions revealing the way to the two-horse stables located on the land. The stables were quite unlike the house in that it was constructed of stone slabs neatly pressed together. The stables itself was unremarkable with space enough for two horses--Aydyn cared only for one--but tended to in such a fashion that it was clear Aydyn took great consideration for the mare's well-fare for it was regularly cleaned.

Beyond the stables began the deep woods of Arios, as lovely as it was magical...and dangerous. As enamored of the woodland as Aydyn was, she took great care to make sure that her daughter was not permitted to wander past the boundaries of her household.

The back of Aydyn's household, stretched between the stables and forest and the house itself, had been planted a wide length of herbs, fruits and vegetables for the Druid's personal use and consumption. They properly displayed growth through the seasons, empty during the rainy months and heavy with produce during those months that sported less damaging rain--these were all, of course, helped along by the owner's Druid touch.

There was only one entrance to the household and that was at the front. A dirt path led up to the wooden door, the front flanked by a pair of local bushes that blossomed at the start of spring and gave way to dark green foliage once the flowers fell away. A brass knocker was fixed to the front door, a half-circle that boasted a flower at its center.

The front door of the homestead opened into a wide room that covered the near entirety of the first floor. It was split between two functions: a kitchen and eating area and a place to sit and relax as the brightening came to its end. To the left of the doorway, the kitchen sprawled out its open area, a counter winding against the curving wall, overlooking the front and side yards through two circular windows. Along the counter there was plenty of space to prepare food amid the carefully lined up, ceramic jars pushed up against the wall and the basin--embedded in the counter--used for cleaning dishes At the end of the counter, well away from the front door, a pantry stood tall and proud against the stone wall.

The square wooden table, adorned with a ceramic vase glazed with a bright blue sky over a red poppy field, a young boy and his dog frolicked among them (these same poppies grew up from the packed soil in the vase), with its four chairs was situated closer towards the kitchen than the sitting area, although it marked the beginning of the division in the room. The sitting area curved like a rounded 'L' around the kitchen, starting where guests walked into the household, a rack situated by the door to hang light-weight jackets slick with Ariosian rain and a wooden bench welcoming people to take a seat and pull off possibly muddy shoes. This area stretched forward towards the twin couches towards the back of the house that flanked a low wooden, decorative table. Upon this table was a ceramic vase with a bright blue sky over a yellow field of sunflowers through with a girl and her kite raced playfully. Yellow pansies sprouted from the packed dirt inside the vase, carefully tended by the homestead's owner.

The last fixture on the bottom floor of the house was a closed off room towards the back right corner. This was the built in bath with a surprising modern convenience: A shower and toilet.

The second floor was accessed through a rounded hole in the ceiling in the back right, curved corner, not far from one of the couches. A ladder had been propped and anchored so that people could move from one floor to another. It led up to a narrow, straight hallway and here three bedrooms opened off the hallway, the first (on the right) of which proved to be a room offered over to guests with a simple bed and few other pieces of furniture. The door was often left open and guests could hardly be surprised to find a feline sprawled across the covers or hiding under the bed.

The room opposite this, its door closed more often than not, was similar in size and boasted a warped wood cradle--once Noah's--and some of the toddler's old toys, now too baby-ish for her to play with. This was the nursery for the child Aydyn carried, a place she worked to keep clean for when it would be occupied.

The last room, alongside of the guest room, was Noah's room, outfitted with a small bed, a chest at its foot for her clothing and a myriad of toys often sprawled across the room rather than neatly set away on the shelves that Aydyn had warped for just that purpose.

The space opposite of Noah's bedroom was devoid of another wall, but rather revealed a second ladder that led up to the third and top story of the entire house. Here was Aydyn's room, neatly arranged with the bed opposite the ladder and a chest of clothing tucked against the far left wall. Potted plants hung from the ceiling and sat on the sills of round windows, the soft scent of flowers casting a lingering fragrance about the room. The splash of color was offered only by the green coverlet that was pulled over the bed, its fašade displaying colorful blossoms.

Daisy chains crowned six bobbing heads as they strolled down the pathway, a veritable invasion of elves. Eri'lariel walked sedately, like a mama duck with her ducklings wandering around her. In her arms, she hefted the youngest of the bunch, a flame haired toddler whose daisies had found their way to his slobbery mouth. Eri'lariel pulled the flowers gently away, uncertain as to whether they would give him a tummyache or not, and not really wanting to interupt the girls' exploration enough to ask.

Of the four girls who surrounded her, three were scanning the foliage around her, fascinated to find and catalogue the vegetation on the island. The blue-winged Elessario knelt beside a succulant, twisting it's thick leaves between her fingers, wondering if it had any sort of healing properties. Senthoi pointed at a rather pretty plant and speculated with her twin as to whether they could coax a cutting into growing in their garden. Nene'rai glanced at Elessario and the two druidesses both seemed to nod as one. All three were herbalists of varying skill and all three seemed to be enamored of everything they saw around them.

The young girl at Eri'lariel's side was the only one of the girls who was neither elf, nor herbalist. She thought the island forests were beautiful, but did not see them for the potential that the others did. Her hand slipped into Eri's. The elder elf squeezed gently, knowing it was easy for any of them to feel left out from the others at any given time. Each shared things in common with a few of the others, so they knew that at some point, it would be their turn to feel on the outs, though the four children played well together and really did do their best to include everyone.

"We will not be taking any cuttings without first asking the owner of this land," Eri corrected gently from where she walked behind them. The girls all nodded in response and moved on to inspect new plants along the pathway.

Forward they walked until a stone cottage came into view. The villagers had told her of the kittens that had been born and would be ready for adoption. She had brought the children in hopes that they could pick out a family pet. Eri'lariel walked up to the wooden door with the human child at her side and the baby in her arms. The rest of her entourage were busy, pointing to this leaf or that fungi, discussing what they thought the properties of each would be. She squeezed Persephonie's hand gently before letting the girl's hand drop so that she could reach up and rasp the door knocker sharply. She turned to watch the children in their hunt, waiting for the inhabitants to answer the door.

Aydyn had hoped people would respond to her desire to home her kittens...but she hadn't expected a small army consisting mostly of young children to appear on her doorstep. She opened the door wiping away some jam that she had managed to accidentally smear while coating a bit of bread with the sweet raspberry stuff for her daughter...who was raising up a bit of a storm in the background. It was a happy storm, one of squealing giggles as she ran in circles around the living space just beyond the door, a green and brown kitten darting in her wake, as if it were all a bit of play. To them, it was.

The Druidess shifted a look over the heads of the children, spotting one that she recognized with some surprise--who could forget such wings?--and then skirted a look up towards the woman who had accompanied them, majestic herself with her own brilliant red wings. No, no one could forget a juive'len once they've seen one. Aydyn smiled pleasantly, inclining her cheek slightly, rag held loosely in her scarred and not-quite-complete hands--the one lacked a finger. She was no longer pregnant and wore a plain tunic of a dusky green tied about her waist with a simple tie of rope. "Serale," she greeted them, releasing a bit of breath she hadn't realized she'd caught in her throat.

Then her brows furrowed and she turned slightly, eying her rambunctious 28-month-old daughter. She would be three soon and had almost too much energy for Aydyn to keep up with, particularly given that there was never a nap time. Not on Arios. No, that child was awake non-stop. Glancing back at the small pack of children that accompanied the woman, Aydyn was almost certain she could sympathize. "Noah. Noah. We have guests."

What exactly did that mean to a girl not quite three ordinances old? Not really a whole lot. But she did see who was at the door. Children. And children fascinated the little girl, who was too often kept in the company of those that were much older than herself. She stared wide-eyed at them, jam-covered fingers tucked in her mouth. She was almost covered in the stuff, red jam sticking about her mouth and smearing the front of her yellow dress. The kitten that had been trailing her pounced on her toes, claiming victory. Noah giggled and crouched down to snatch at the cat, but the kitten was already bouncing off, bumbling into another that had thought to join the fun. (For there was evidence of cats in plenty--and who could there be otherwise, given that there were eleven kittens in total and four adults.)

"Can I help you?" Aydyn seemed a little resigned to the behavior of the little hellion and the kittens as she looked towards Eri'Lariel, blue eyes inquisitive.

Yseult Faelivrin is an upstanding Citizen
Yseult was in an exceptionally cheery mood. There was even a light bounce in her step as she walked toward the Catnap Cottage, her friend Aydyn's humble abode. She was looking forward to this visit. It had been a long time since she had seen and talked to her friend, much too long. She was wondering how her friend was doing and had meant to drop by earlier, but somehow never found the time, especially with the unpredictability of these past few months.

But seeing her friend again wasn't the only thing exciting her this brightening. She was also going to get two kittens from her! Yseult had been looking forward to this for a while. Now that she had completely settled in to her home, it was time she adopted a few furry little companions of her own. The thought of two kittens playfully prancing around her house brought a smile to her face.

Yseult soon found herself in front of Aydyn's home, one that Yseult thought was very characteristically Aydyn. It didn't surprise her that her home was next to the forest and had an array of flora in the yard. Aydyn was, after all, a druidess and herbalist. She followed the dirt path to the front door and lightly knocked on it. Her hands strayed to smooth out her clothes a bit as she waited for an answer, trying to stifle the excitement she felt and hoping she hadn't come at an inconvenient time.

It was a trace quiet in the household when Aydyn answered the door at the sound of her friend's knock. It wasn't that Noah was napping--she wasn't, couldn't on Arios--but rather that the girl had been given a treat of fresh strawberries and the girl sucked and chewed at them with greed--strawberries were one of Noah's favorites. Aydyn smiled broadly at Yseult as she saw who stood on her doorstep. "Yseult!" She rather unabashedly stepped forward to lightly hug the young elvish woman before stepping back to gesture her into the lower living space.

Noah, who had been seated at the table, legs dangling back and forth, squealed as she saw the visitor, forgetting her strawberries to slip down off the chair and go running towards her, curling dark brown hair bouncing about her ears. She flung herself around Yseult's legs, hugging the woman at the height that a near-three ordinance old child could best manage. "Ee-sool!"

"Noah, you'll get strawberry all over the place. Come on." She wiggled her hand at the young girl, who reluctantly let go of Yseult to let her hands be cleaned, while Aydyn shifted eyes towards Yseult to see if any of the strawberry had detached itself onto fabric. "I can get you a cloth, if you need it," she informed Yseult with a slight nod.

Like outside, the inside boasted a small array of plants, particularly given that so much had needed to be grown inside with all the horrid weather. And there were cats. With fifteen in residence--four adults and twelve kittens--they were going to be in evidence. Some of them dozed, others tumbled and bounced about the room with full bursts of energy.

"Did you want something to drink? Water? Juice? Anything? I could probably muster up some food, too. We have strawberries." She gestured at her kitchen, particularly the table where two bowls of strawberries had been placed, one with Noah's little bowl and the other just to pick from.

"Good bwerries," Noah announced, sticking her fingers in her mouth with a shy little grin.

The villagers had told her that there were kittens for sale at this home, but they had failed to mention who it belonged to, so it was with a small amount of surprise that Eri'lariel found herself once again face to face with the druidess. Widened eyes took in the human woman at a glance, noting quietly the lack of child within her womb. Her surprise was quickly washed away by a pleasant - and very genuine - smile.

The red headed infant in Eri's arms cooed with pleasure at seeing little beings more his size romping in the background. His chubby little hands reached down, but his mother wasn't certain if it was the kittens or the little girl that he reached for. She hefted him further up on her hip, bemused at his interest in the brood beyond.

The girls in the yard had heard the greeting and moved to join Eri'lariel by the doorway. Nene'rai knelt down, peering at the kittens behind the druidess. The other three girls seemed to be eminating sounds that resembled the felines in the other room more than children. They had already begun whispering amongst themselves, debating which they thought would be best to add to their family. Eri'lariel shushed them gently, turning back to Aydyn.

"My apologies for barging in on you unannounced." The Juive'lea had the grace to blush, ashamed at the breech in propriety; but then again, things were a little more lax on the island. "We heard that you had kittens for sale - it seems that our information might have been correct? If this is a bad time..."

Yseult received Aydyn's hug happily. She was glad to finally see her friend again, and it seemed, that Aydyn shared her feelings. "Aydyn! I'm so glad to see you!" She stepped into her friend's house, first knocking off any dirt from her shoes so she would track as little dirt in as possible that she might have picked up along the way.

Once inside, she could see little Noah sitting at the table eating strawberries like any child would--rather messily. She was just as Yseult remembered, extremely cute and adorable. "Hi Noah! I see you've been eating some strawberries." She beamed as she embraced the little girl, who had tightly hugged her legs. "It's good to see you too."

As Noah let go, Yseult looked down herself to see if any strawberry juices had transferred onto her pants, though it seemed like none had. "I don't think I need it, but thank you. Somehow, Noah managed to not get me dirty." She gave Aydyn a little smile of her own but soon became distracted by the movement of cats and kittens around the house. They were so cute, some dozing, others playing with each other or just simply sniffing around.

Her attention was brought back when asked if she wanted anything to eat or drink. "Some water would be nice. And I might have a taste of those strawberries. Noah made them look really good, and I'll definitely take her word for it. Did you pick these from your garden? Maybe, we can go outside and pick more? Noah, do you want to help me pick more strawberries?"

Eri'lariel
"A bad time? No, not at all." Aydyn offered the woman a wide, reassuring smile and gestured her into the household--her and the rest of her brood. She stood aside and waited for the lot of them to troop in through the door, clicking the wooden barrier shut behind them once every last foot had crossed the threshold.

"We do have kittens. Lots of kittens. If you haven't noticed them." She laughed a little, glancing out around the wide space of a room where kittens rolled about freely. Winged felines tumbled with larger green and brown kittens, while two tiny fluffballs bumbled about the room, pouncing on each other with gleeful abandon. Among them, Noah just stood there, staring, eyes wide, fingers in her mouth...in absolute awe of the younger folk who ranged inside with Eri. "You're welcome to go ahead and play with them, if you like," she encouraged the children with Eri. "I'm sure it will help you chose which you like."

She turned then to Eri'lariel. "Would you like anything to drink? I can get tea or juice. Or water, if you prefer. I am sure I have some treats lying around, too, if you think they might be hungry." She nodded her head towards the children, frowned a little when she noticed Noah was hanging back. "Sweetie, it's okay. Go ahead and play," she urged the girl, gesturing towards the kittens.

Belatedly, she offered another question to Eri'lariel: "Do you know what kind of kitten you were looking for? We have flower weavers and alicats now, but the palm kittens won't be available to take home until next month."

Yseult

Aydyn moved about the kitchen area, producing water from a jug rather than wasting any of her Vis to conjure it herself. She extended the ceramic mug towards Yseult and turned her attention towards the strawberries on the table, lifting the bowl. This, too, she held out towards Yseult, picking one from the top for herself and taking a small nibble of the sweet berry. She smiled. Strawberries were one of her favorite berries.

Noah twisted back and forth slightly as Yseult plied her with questions, shaking her head with a widened grin. "Not from garden. From--" She pointed, picking out one of the plants in the room, a moderately sized bush of deep green leaves and red berries. To emphasize her point, her little frame ran across the room and, standing on tiptoes, she plucked a red berry from the vine. It was a struggle and Aydyn had to step over to prevent the whole thing from tumbling over or the little girl from getting frustrated, but she had her berry and she brought it triumphantly back over to Yseult, offering it up with a child's sweetness. "See?" She waited for Yseult to take it--a gift for someone she rather liked.

"I know all the rain's quieted down quite a bit, but it's still a little muddy and she finds the biggest, muddiest puddles in the whole yard." Aydyn's grin was wry as she adjusted the position of the strawberry bush. She looked back towards Yseult. "You don't know how much I miss nap-time sometimes." But for all that it could have been a complaint, Aydyn laughed it off. She was happy on Arios, for all that the lack of a nap meant very little time alone.

"Ee-sool, did you come for a...a kitty? Momma said so." Noah's eyes were wide, even almost hopeful.

Aydyn laughed and plucked another berry from the bowl. "She's been trying to pick you out the best cats all cycle, but I told her that it'll be up to you to pick out which ones you want."

The girls entered the room quietly, filing in single file. Once inside, the Sylrosyan twins immediately settled down on the floor, attempting to coax a kitten close of their own volition, tempting the little felines with bits of string or a feather swiped from Eri's brilliant wings. Persephonie, always sensitive to the feelings of others, turned to Eri and offered to take Alvorn into her arms. The Juive'lea mother hesitated between her people's natural inclination to hold their children at all times and a mother's desire to let her child have a little fun. Finally she relented, lowering Alvorn into the young human's arms. If anyone could keep Alvorn from getting too excited and lighting fires in their hostess' house, it would be Persephonie.

Persephonie took the crimson haired boy and moved, not toward the kittens, but toward the other little girl, sitting and placing the boy in her lap so that he would be on Noah's eye level. Her hand reached out invitingly toward the toddler and Alvorn's mimicked the same, wanting to feel this new, living breathing toy who he had stumbled upon. His age was the same as the sweet little jam-encrusted girl, but as an elf child, he was still quite a bit less mature.

Only the younger Juive'lea held back hesitantly, standing by Eri'lariel's flank shyly. She didn't speak much of the Kingdom's common tongue, save for bits and pieces that the Gil'dae family had managed to teach her, but she didn't seem to have a proficiency for learning new languages, so it had been a slow effort. Eri'lariel didn't push her to join in, but subtly pointed out an alicat that was perched nearby. Elessario's eyes widened slightly, never having seen anything of its kind before. She looked up at Eri' uncertainly and received an encouraging nod before slowly approaching the like-winged feline and, reaching out a tentative hand, stroked it gently.

"Tea would be lovely, but only if it's no bother. I know how busy motherhood can be," Eri'lariel said softly, her voice lilting with the Trelorean accent that Aydyn was no doubt used to hearing from the many Ariosians who shared Eri's heritage. "As for which kind of kitten, I'm not sure we've decided. I've had an alicat once before..."

She tried to keep her nose from crinkling with the distaste of the memory - not of the kitten, but of the man who had given it to her, back when he was sweet and romantic and the man that she had first fallen in love with and was engaged to marry. Before he had turned into a necromancer, the vampire's lover. She had given the kitten to Elle for a Primeheim's gift, unable to look at it without reliving painful memories, but she wasn't opposed to having another, now that those memories had dulled and been replaced by so many happy ones. After all, it was thanks to Iseril's betrayal that she had married Motito in the end.

"...but I've never seen a flower weaver or a... did you say 'palm kitten'? I'm not sure what we should get."

Eri' eyed the cats quizzically, watching them each in turn. The pet was more for the children than herself, so in the end, she would let them decide, but as a parent, one always wanted to be able to give an educated opinion. As for the girls, most of them had already made up their minds.

"I like this one," Elessario whispered gently in Trelorean, still stroking the winged feline. The twins piped up with a different suggestion. "Flower Weaver!" "Flower Weaver!" Persephonie was the only one who didn't voice an opinion, her attention still focused on the little children.

Aydyn's gesture was dismissive. "Tea won't be a problem, don't worry. I'll just set some water to boiling." She hustled over to the kitchen and set about doing just that, giving little mind for the children that were now poking about her house. Noah was still behaving a trace shyly, but had tentatively approached the others, patting the same cats they did, as if to encourage or show her own braveness. With another set of adult eyes to mind the room, she turned her back to gather water into the kettle's basin and hung it over a little fireplace in the kitchen area for such purposes.

Looking back towards her guests and Noah, Aydyn leaned her hip against the table, watching how they all interacted with the kittens. They seemed to handle them well enough and to hear that Eri'lariel had even owned a feline once before was relaxing. Aydyn liked to hold on to the notion that finding a good home would be better than finding a home in general. She'd rather keep the horde of cats than hand them off to someone who was like to damage them somehow. So far it seemed that the only damage any felines might come by in this one's care was the careless pokes and prods of young children. Which they all endured with Noah anyway.

"Yes, palm kitten." Aydyn smiled. "I think they're a little more native to the...Lauryl...area. I'm not surprised you haven't seen one." She moved away from the tea kettle and into the fray of children and felines, plucking up two cats that were not surrounded by tiny curious fingers.

Noah's face brightened as she spotted the flower weaver in her mother's hand. "Honey!" She leaned in against Aydyn, reaching up towards the pale tan kitten with a mix of dark and light green markings across her body. Aydyn hesitated only briefly before depositing the cat into her daughter's outstretched hands. She was surprisingly gentle, but nonetheless clutched the cat against her, sitting down to place her in her lap, little fingers working over the coat. The kitten didn't seem to mind, eyes slanting as she arched her back against the toddler's fingers.

"My daughter's pick of the litter," Aydyn explained with a chuckle. "A flower weaver." The flower weavers were notably larger than the others, both larger than the palm kittens--of which there weren't many in evidence--and the alicats. There was a varied mix in coloration--ranging from deep chocolate brown to a paler tan or even from a strange light to dark green, each of them with markings on their coats of similar shades--and they were the most dominant of the cats in the room, numbering seven in total if Eri bothered to try and give a head count. "They get to be a little bigger than a regular cat and they won't be easy to keep inside, since they like to be outdoors pilfering gardens instead." She gestured towards one, the oldest and doubtlessly the mother, with daisies and a dandelion in her fur. A few of the others were similarly adorned. "Camouflage." She chuckled.

"This is a palm kitten." She extended the small kitten remaining in her hands towards Eri'lariel, the smallest out of the three cats and still a kitten. She barely filled out the length of her palm. Its fur was fluffy and cream-colored with a darker tip of lilac on its fluffy tail. The kitten's eyes were surprisingly large and wide, but the kitten purred, rubbing her chin against Aydyn's thumb with a contented look upon her features. "I was told they're good companions for the fae. I'm not sure if they might be too small for children of the age you have, but Noah does all right with them. Besides. They like to play dress-up." She wasn't kidding either.

Alvorn sat watching all of the miniature life erupting around him with rapt attention. So many little beings his size. A cane-shaped tail caught him under the chin, tickling his flesh. His entire body lurched in surprise at the tactile contact, quicksilver eyes widening as his head rotated to find the source of the touch. One chubby hand reached out for the tail but missed, throwing the child's weight forward and onto all fours. Eyes like his father's were so intent on the tip of the tail and slowly, one knee moved forward and then the other as he chased his quarry. Each time he drew close, five little digits would reach for the offending tailpiece, closing around nothing but air as the kitten leapt forward after one of Eri's proffered feathers. Persephonie watched as the tike made his way across the floor, ignoring the furry mayhem to spot the crawling child, should he have need of help.

The child's mother had her eyes on the little kitten held forth by their hostess. Slowly, one hand was extended to stroke the kitten gently. It was so tiny compared to the others. Eri' shot a brief glance at Aydyn for permission before gently scooping the little ball of fluff up into one hand and holding it close. Two fingers scratched at the kitten's neck as her hand lifted it to the side of her cheek where she could feel its purr reverberating against her skin. Her eyes closed momentarily to take in the sensation.

When she opened them again, it was to catch sight of her son, moving across the floor on all fours like one of the many kittens scampering throughout the house. Her heart leapt into her throat in panic, her mouth opening to reprimand Persephonie for not paying closer attention to his safety. Juive'len did not let their children wander around on their own - something could happen to them. In Vilyatol, falling from the towering spires and even the floating island itself was a very real and present danger.

Only the presence of the other woman held her in check. Little Noah was scrambling around without harm and Eri' had to admit that the dangers of her homeland were not nearly as present here. Her mouth closed again and she watched for a moment. Persephonie was indeed vigilant in her charge, attending to the infant's care.

The Juive'lea nuzzled the furry creature in her hand as she considered the two smallest bi-peds. Noah and Alvorn had likely been born in the same era, but Alvorn's elfin heritage delayed his growth when compared to hers. While she was toddling around and communicating with words, he had just now learned to propel himself forward on his knees (an act that other Juive'len would be aghast to learn of). It would be eras more before he was at the stage where this little human child was at this moment. Likewise, she thought, turning her attention to Persephonie, the human girl in her own entourage was only of ten eras, but her maturity was on par with the three other girls who were a good four decades her senior.

Eri's eyes refocused on Aydyn as she brought her attention back around to the present. Her lips parted in a smile, despite her misgivings at allowing her child to crawl around on the floor. She wished for a moment that Motito were here to see their son crawl for the first time. She would have to make an effort to allow the child more freedoms when possible so that Motito could witness the small miracles.

"The children keep a garden - Elesario, Senthoi and Nene'rai are herbalists - I'm sure they'd be more than willing to share their flowers with any potential new members of our family." The twins looked up at the mention of their names and nodded, smiling at each other. Elessario looked up as well, but continued plying a winged kitten with loving strokes of her soft wings, scratching softly with the tips of her fingers to dislodge the hard pinfeathers and release the trapped softness inside; the winged girl knew precisely how itchy and uncomfortable those new feathers could be. Choosing one cat out of all of the types would be difficult, especially when she was asking all four children to agree.

The winged elf woman looked at each of the girls speculatively. They would come to a compromise, if she asked them to. It would take them a bit of wheedling and bartering, like fishwives on market day, but eventually, a bargain would be struck. Unless she was feeling generous. They had to share so much, living in the Gil'dae house. And much attention was given to their similarities. Today, she decided to honor their differences. Carmelya help her when Motito found out.

"I don't suppose you'd part with four kittens...?"

Yseult Faelivrin is an upstanding Citizen
Yseult took the mug of water and bowl of strawberries when handed to her, setting the bowl of strawberries in front of her while taking a lengthy sip of the cool, refreshing water. She plucked a strawberry off the top of the pile and took a small bite into the succulent flesh of the berry. "Mmm! It's really juicy!" Her green eyes widened as she another bite into the strawberry, so that nothing but the stem was left.

"Oh? They're not from the garden?" Her gazed followed little Noah as she ran over to the potted strawberry bush that stood inside the house. She watched as the little girl reached up and struggled to pick a berry, finally succeeding with a little help from Aydyn. When presented with the fruit, Yseult happily took it. "I do see. Thank you Noah!"

She turned toward Aydyn, a warm smile on her face. "Of course she would. Isn't that how it always is?" Upon hearing her name, she turned once again toward Noah. "I have come for a kitty. Actually, if it's okay with your Mom, I was hoping to get two." Yseult looked up at Aydyn to see if she heard what she said to her daughter. "Would that be alright Aydyn? I figure if I only get one, they'll get lonely. Hey Noah, would you like to help me pick out a few kittens?"

Eri'lariel
Aydyn observed Eri'lariel almost closely as the Juive'len took the small feline into the palm of her hand to rest her cheek against the tiny feline. She could not help but smile at the image, a pretty picture. She paid some attention to the movement of young children around her house, feeling a bit envious of Eri'lariel, truth be told, at the sheer size of the family and the ease at which they interacted. That they were not all her children was quite obvious and Aydyn could appreciate the fact that the woman so generously extended her roof to those who were not of her own womb. A good woman, then. A good house for cats. And the children seemed easy with them as well, which was an additional balm on Aydyn's heart.

"Four? Certainly. I think your home would be very good to these cats. They certainly wouldn't lack for attention, I think." She flashed a look around her, taking in the scene of young children and energetic felines. "I just hope you're up for it." She turned a broad grin towards Eri'lariel. Of course, Aydyn had experienced a household full of cats climbing and getting into everything...and one energetic youngster prone to the very same feats.

"Have you decided which cats you're interested in? I know on the sign I posted I said I had two female flower weavers and two male alicats, but those have both gone down to one each. I had a friend who adopted a pair of cats and hadn't the time to fix the numbers." She rubbed the back of her neck thoughtfully. "You'll want to be careful also in what genders you pick...unless you want to have a litter of kittens to take care of yourself further down the line. Right now I have one female flower weaver and three males, one female alicat and another male. And the two palm kittens, both female."

She shifted a look around the room, cataloguing who was present and who was not. "There's probably a few others hanging elsewhere in the house. I can hunt them down if none of the cats in here appeal to you." She clasped her fingers in front of her and focused her blue eyes on Noah, watching as her daughter had given up her attention on the kitten she had claimed as her own to edge in close towards Eri'lariel's youngest, the small half-juive who she seemed a little fascinated with. She hadn't reached out to touch the boy, but she was getting in close, a shy look to her features as she studied him.

"Be gentle, Noah," she urged her lightly, a little amused and somewhat saddened. Noah ought to have her own brothers and sisters to play with. And Aydyn was working on that. It was just a little harder to work on when you had to handle everything yourself.

oocSee note at the bottom of this post :)
Yseult
Noah's features lit up with delight at Yseult's evident pleasure with the strawberry. The smile was a little shy, but very pleased and she looked at her mother as if to say "see, I did that!" Aydyn ruffled her daughter's dark brown locks, so much like her father's. "You should say 'you're welcome,' Noah," she encouraged the toddler, whose speech was still not quite there.

Noah just tucked her fingers in her mouth and noised something around her smaller digits, smiling all the while. It might have passed for 'you're welcome,' but that was a trace doubtful.

"Two? Of course! They've been so used to having other feline company, I think sending two off with you would be better than just one. Not that I think you couldn't give them the attention. You know what I mean." She smiled somewhat ruefully, hoping the elvish woman wouldn't deign to find offense in the casual remark. "Go ahead, Noah, show her the kittens you've been picking out for Yseult."

Noah didn't need to be asked a third time. She reached out and clasped at Yseult's hand without waiting for the invitation to do so, and tugged her towards the main part of the room. Most of the cats were present in the living space, but not all of them. For all that some were secreted away either in their own little hidey holes or up on the upper levels, it was nonetheless quite clear that Yseult would have her fair share of cats to pick through.

"This one!" A small flower weaver eyed Noah warily, starting to bunch up as if to edge away from her. While some of the cats were very tolerant of Noah's enthusiastic attention, some much preferred to keep a distance...and avoid having ears and fur tugged on. "Clove!"

"Clover," Aydyn corrected, amused. The flower weaver was tangled with a pair of other kittens--a smaller flower weaver (the smallest of them and obviously the runt) and an alicat. Aydyn leaned towards Yseult slightly and added in a quiet murmur. "You can change the names, by the way."

Enthusiastically Noah dove in among the kittens. "This Prim. That Cook." She pointed first at the runt of a flower weaver kitten and then last the alicat, who she picked up to pet and then hand towards Yseult with a wide grin. The cat looked uncomfortable, but tolerant. Clover was already trying to slink away while "Prim" was bunching up to pounce on Noah.

"Primrose and Cuckoo," Aydyn amended absently, watching as Noah tried both to give Yseult the alicat named Cuckoo and pet him all at the same time.
Both Eri & Yseult: OOC Note
You guys can describe the cats anyway you want. I haven't given them physical descriptions and personalities. It's totally up to you

If you want to work off the parents' descriptions:
Secrets :
Flowers Weavers
Mother: Daisy is an average-sized flower weaver (a trace larger than a house cat) with long, pale green fur streaked here and there with a dusty brown. She has bright yellow-brown eyes that are a little wider than an average cat's. She garnered her name for her tendency to weave only daisies into her green coat. A sweet-natured cat with a playful and curious nature, somewhat wary of strangers, but eager to push past that wariness with a little investigation.

Father: Foxglove is a bit small for a flower weaver. He has light tan fur. The tips of his left front toes and the tips of both ears are a deep, mossy green and he has a splotch of the same green in an eye-patch on the front of his face. He is a sweet cat and lives to eat. If given the opportunity, he will grab food at any time from anyone, unabashed of how greedy it makes him look. He is a bit on the sedate side, but not particularly shy (given the fact that he will investigate all people to see if they have some tidbits).

Alicats
Mother: Solid Alicat; Whimsy is an inquisitive, energetic feline with a blue coat and white socks around her little paws and white coating her chest. She is on the small side, but muscular due to her active disposition. She has a tendency to stalk unsuspecting feet. Her eyes are a golden yellow-brown. (Note: She had a sister in the past that was an orange solid alicat and another daughter that is a brown solid alicat)

Father: Mixed Alicat (Wild & Enamorian) Kestrel looks as if he has Enamorian Angel in his background somewhere. Were it not for the medium length of his coat, he would otherwise look to be a wild alicat, being slightly larger than the Medonian Solids, lacking any trace of white in his fur, and possessing deep, emerald eyes. He is a playful, energetic cat, given to sliding along smooth surfaces into any small nook and cranny he can find. He can be difficult to keep focused and is often bounding from one thing to another without any warning.
Note about the female alicat: She is the runt of the alicat litter, so she's tinier than the others
Palm Kittens
Mother: Trifle is a one pound, cream-colored feline, fully grown, with fluffy fur and ears and tail tipped with a dusky blue-brown shade. Her eyes are large and green. She is relatively sedate, but a bit mischievous in her own right. She has a particular love for shiny objects and isn't beyond trying to figure out how to adorn herself in bracelets and rings (only to get somewhat pissy and snippish when she finds out that she can't).

Father: Speck is a petite little cat with soft, fluffy cream fur and ears, nose, and tail tip colored a pale lilac-blue. His eyes are a large and a vivid green. Playful, with a somewhat mischievous streak in him. Likes to be the center of attention and is always finding ways to doll himself up if no one takes the effort, be it with strings, stray bits of clothe, or some other small item easily struggled with.

As Aydyn approached the juive'lea and inquired about the choice of kittens, she smiled faintly to her and motioned to the children around them.

"I was thinking that we'd get an alicat for Elesario--any juive'lea would be a good match for an alicat, I think...I used to have one of my own." Her gaze turned to the younger winged elf and she smiled maternally as she noticed El's absolute adoration for the young runt. "It seems she's already made her own choice on which one she wants." She then turned to the twins, who were following a pair of flowerweavers with keen interest, as they were two kittens who were side-by-side in exploring the house.

"For the druids, of course, flower weavers seems only nautral. They've already taken to them, I see, so I suppose it can't be helped. For Persephonie..." She trailed off, gazing at the girl. Seph was the hardest to read of the gathered at times, perhaps because of the unnatural maturity she'd been forced to assume. The irony wasn't lost on her, considering the little blonde girl's gift at sharing her thoughts with any she wished within a decent range.

"What do you think, Seph?" Eri asked. The little girl's head snapped up and around to face the maternal elf, as though in a daze watching all the activity swarming about her.

"What? Oh...I suppose..." Though she was cute as a button, the human girl was small even by her own race's standards. She gravitated instantly towards the tiny palm kittens, gazing down into them with abject fascination.

One of these, she whispered in reverence into Eri's mind, a habit she slipped into on occasion when she was excited or fascinated and forgot her surroundings, which was rare for the quite aware young human. Eri looked to them all and nodded.

"I think that does it then. A female palm kitten, that female alicat, and two of your male flower weavers. Girls," she called out to them, "Pick the ones you like." It was obvious that Eri had called it true, as El had the runt alicat, the twins had the two close flower weavers, and that just left Seph, staring down at the gathered palm kittens, completely torn. Eventually one seemed to catch her eye, though. When she noticed it, she blinked, fascinated. The kitten had two eyes that were different colors. It was different from the others of its kind, though it was not disturbed by this difference. Immediately Seph knew that no other kitten in this entire house would do. She bent down and clutched the multichromatic-irised kitten in her arms as though it were the most precious gem in all of the Kingdom.

This one, she whispered mentally once again, absolutely infatuated.

The female alikitten, runt that it was, was smaller than the others. Though larger than the palm kittens, it was not so by much. She possessed her father's emerald eyes, and her coat was a light creamy orange with a white chest coating, though the further down her body one looked they would see it darkening to a burnt orange-brown. Her wings were soft and fluffy, nowhere near mature enough to use to fly just yet, a bright orange coloration that would no doubt dull to a color that would resemble the sun at dusk. The Alikitten was, interestingly, the most playful of the kittens gathered by the Gil'dae children. She was prone to trounce around and was enormously friendly when she wasn't off investigating whatever nooks or crannies she could find.

The palm kitten was tiny and absolutely precious. Since it wasn't anywhere near full-grown yet, it was barely a single fingerlength in size, her cream-colored fluff common in both parents, and the tips of her ears and her tail seemed to be a coloration mix from her parents as well, as it was a pale indigo. Interestingly, though her parents both have green eyes, she was born with one green and one blue eye. This gave her a very mysterious quality, making her even more adorable with such a unique feature. Though she adored attention, she wasn't as prone to running and playing as the others, preferring instead to stick to a source of adoration.

The two male flower weavers, as one might expect, were very similar. Both were average sized for kittens, and had dusty brown fur, though the socks of each were a moss green. One of the males had a large moss green spot right in the center of his back, and the other's tail seemed, from stem to tip, a similar moss green. The one with the splotch on his back had bright citrine eyes, while the other's seemed more of a dark amber-brown. Both were quite playful and curious and--fitting for the twins--seemed to stick together when they were playing and exploring more than the others.

All in all, the four kittens had been chosen, and though she knew there was a threat of giving Tito a heart attack, that they all deserved something of their own, with everything the four girls had to share. She'd have to try and think of something for Alvorn later, but a helpless furred creature was probably not an ideal match for a pyrokinetic child.

Alvorn, for his part, had been absolutely focused upon the kittens at first, but with the arrival of Noah he turned to gaze at her, his quicksilver eyes studying her intently. He'd not really seen many other children, so she was a source of facination to him. He almost made his way to the little toddler girl until one of the kittens swept past him, brushing it's tail across his face. He sneezed, then looked over at it, and began to crawl furiously once more, industriously making his way towards the offending feline.

With her thoughts returned to her son, she could at last stand it no longer. With careful, even steps that showed she wasn't panicked or in a rush, she moved over to Alvorn and picked him up, holding him in her arms.

"That's enough of that, young man," she said with mock seriousness, turning back to Aydyn with curious eyes. Would the woman be willing to part with so many of her precious brood into the Gil'dae household? She certainly seemed willing thusfar, but the moment of truth was upon her, and hopefully she wouldn't change her mind.

Alvorn fussed for a moment and Eri worried briefly that perahps his fiery tendancies would shine through, but he calmed down when Seph came over holding her palm kitten, showing it to him. He giggled in glee at the sight of the feline, but Seph made sure the infant couldn't get his hands on the kitten, lest he get overexcited after his debut of crawling around to seek one out to clutch.
