The saurid watched as the man stumbled into the shop, and then blatantly ignored most of the words he had spoken. Perhaps he had not been clear enough before, or it was his saurid tongue that was not clear enough for the man to decipher what exactly was being said, and had been said. Turning his snakelike head back towards Iseult, she quickly corrected her worker, making it known that he wanted breakable marbles. Watching her actions, it was obvious that she was a bit agitated. Perhaps by the fact that he did want them for breaking. But then again, it was a business that she had to run.

She mentioned the name Straylor, and the thought crossed his mind that it might indeed be the Straylor he had fought in the Champion's arena, a fairly strong opponent, but he dismissed them immediately as more important matters were at hand, that being, the marbles.

From the way she was speaking as well, it was obvious that she held no trust for the saurid mystic, and if anyone had known what he had done to a small village in the Carmelyan Hinterlands, no one would trust him at all. But that was his secret, a secret that no one would find out about unless he was identified by one of the victim's family members. It wasn't every day that a monster with a metal tail killed twelve innocent people at one time. "I would be willing to sssssshow you the resssssult of my work... perhapsssss to sssssshow you that i do not intend to ussssse them for anything but illusssssionsssss and animationsssss... Perhapsssss you might enjoy a sssssshow of illusssssionsssss. It'sssss not everyday ssssssomeone sssssseeessssss ssssssomething that isssssn't real, and thinksssss it isssss... Asssss for the pricssssse, name it, reassssssonably, and i ssssshall pay it..." he said, and then awaited a reply from either herself, or her clumbsy assistant...

Fenris patted Verre, finding the dog's enthusiasm cute. He wasn't aware that he heard the saurid wrong until Iseult spoke up, telling him that the marbles were meant to be broke. The elven child frowned, slightly. He figured that there ought to be someway for a person to imbue magic into glass without having to break it. If only someone had the time and dedication to test that out...

He stayed silent as Iseult explained to the saurid about the difficulty of the task and her reassurance that she was indeed able to create such objects. To Fenris, it sounded like a difficult task. Marbles were small and most of them were solid. How was Iseult going to manage to make them?

Then came her question, the one about the use of magic. It was becoming clear to the elf that she probably did not trust arcana.

"You're...you're not planning to cast an illusion on Miss Iseult right sir? It doesn't sound nice and I d-don't think it proves that you are using arcana for harmless purposes." Fenris had nothing against the saurid. In fact, he was rather amazed at meeting an arcana user that was of another sphere. He was tempted to ask more questions. The idea of magic amazed the boy to unimaginable lengths. However, he kept quiet. No questions would be asked until the glassblower approved of the saurid's request. He had a feeling that the glassblower would not be happy to be caught in an illusion.

As always, the sibilant hiss of the saurid's voice was difficult to float through here and there. The elongated sound stretched out words and made the Iseult shift uncomfortably, hoping that she understand fully what he was saying to her. She inclined her cheek slightly at his offer, then shifted a look towards Fenris as he spoke up, suggesting that the offer to use arcana on Iseult would not be appreciated. He had seen how she took to magic--wary.

"No. That's all right." She gestured absently. "My experiences with the arcane haven't always been pleasant--I'd rather we kept things simple, straightforward. I'll make you the marbles. I don't need demonstrations on how you intend to use them." She paused, glanced briefly towards Fenris, then at the saurid. "Perhaps it's better if I don't know."

Then she shrugged, leaned her hip against the wooden counter that barred off the back wall and the door to the workroom. "As for price. You said you wanted twenty? They'll be small--smaller can be difficult to work, to make sure they're exactly as you want them. Fifty crowns." It wasn't a lot, really, in the grand scheme of things, but for twenty, hollow marbles? Someone else might think so.

Pescado looked towards Iseult as she spoke, and dismissed it as her just not wishing for a show, rather than her having a bad experience in the past with Arcana. Of course, reading her mind wouldn't be that difficult, but why read it when she seemed to speak it freely enough, at least when it involved Arcana. When she began on the price, Pescado would have smiled if he could, because they were finally getting to where he wanted to go. He didn't expect the price to be that low though when she finally said it, but was quite glad it was. Although he should have expected a low price for something that was so small.

"Very well, it isssss a done deal..." he said, and then withdrew a pouch of crowns, so that he could pay her up front. "Would you like the payment up front? or after the order isssss completed?" he asked, and then would withdraw the fifty crowns to give to her if she said yes. If she said no, he would continue to converse with her and Fen until she was ready to accept payment, or until they were done conversing...

Iseult shifted a glance towards the pouch he produced. "I always request half now, half after the order is completed. That way if the order isn't to your satisfaction, you don't have to pay the full, but you also don't get the first half back, since I put the work into it." She arched her brows slightly, studying him to see if he disapproved of the measures...or not. But a craftswoman had to be careful--there were always people who tried to wheedle their way out of paying what they owed.

"Twenty-five now. Give me three brightenings for the marbles. You can come back on the third with the remaining payment. Will that suffice?"

Looking towards her, he reached in the pouch and withdrew twenty five crowns, handing them over to her. "Without a doubt, i am ssssssure you're work will be sssssplendid and to my sssssatisssssfaction..." he said, then cocking his head a bit, and waving his metallic tail around, though not very far as to not break anything, he also asked.

"Perhapssssss there issssss one other thing that you could create for me, ssssssomething i would prefer to be assssss ssssstrong assss posssssible, without need to worry about being broken if dropped or whatnot, not that i would drop it... The thought jussssst occured to me that i might need a medium sssssized orb, one that you would placssssse upon the head of a ssssstaff... Would that be ssssssomething you could accomplissssssh along with the marblesssss?" he queried, curious as to if she would be up to doing two projects for him, both of significant importance. At least she wouldn't have to worry about one of her projects being broken, for Pescado would take great care of the orb that she might create for him, if she was indeed able to...

Early In The Month of Aperitus, Era XV Post Fractum.

The door clicked and opened and for several seconds, letting in the noise from the street outside – or at least more of it. It was then closed by the man who had entered and the noise correspondingly returned to its normal amount, he took two further steps inside and looked around then, removing a pair of supple black leather gloves and stuffing them in the small of his back.

To say the newest customer to Tidewater was unremarkable would be true, unlike several circumstances recently when he'd gone out of his way to look official and well dressed, shopping was not one of those. So he was dressed in a loose, high-collared brown leather coat which hung open to reveal a white silk shirt beneath, a green cravat covering wrapped around his neck and tucked into the shirt. Grey breeches completed the outfit along with a utterly normal grey cloak and a sword sheathed at the man's left hip, which also looked...normal.

Blue eyes scoured the room for what he sought though as his left hand rested on the sword hilt, raising a finger to scratch at a slightly unshaven cheek as he smiled at the light catching on several of the items.

Truly beautiful, to Duncan Sythe at least. Yet he was here for practical purposes and did not hold much with buying things for the sake of it.

The bell caught his eye too, an interesting thing to tell truth when he would have expected a metal one, he spent a moment studying it and marvelling what could indeed be done with glass – and appraising his opinion that he might only want one thing from the store keeper... presuming of course he or she was able to gather more items than what was on display – certainly the price list suggested as much.

A single finger extended to lightly and almost somewhat hesitantly ring the bell, as if afraid it might break at his touch, eyes studying it to that effect as he rang it gently.

Once someone came however he looked up from his very intricate examination of the instrument, both hands returning to the small of his back where they rested as he inclined his head to the assistant or store keep come to tend to him.

“Serale.” He offered almost softly, a reserved...politeness about him which spoke of other things about his attitude. For now though he was utterly courteous...and most likely suitably richly – if simply – dressed to suggest he could pay for what he was asking for.

“I am interested in making a special order, a circular piece of flat, clear glass, around a finger's width thick, measurements for the glass...let us say, the size of a mirror that might stand in a frame? Similar to those.”

The man suggested. Pointing to a suncatcher. They were probably too thin for his purposes and he suspected there may be some art to mounting glass or mirrors in frames...although he didnt know what it was.

“Along with such a frame to hold it and tilt it. Such a frame made of good quality metal if possible. I would also like a single large gem.” He held up a finger. “As long as my finger and half as wide, inset into the top of the frame below the suspended glass disk, facing upward towards it. I do not mind if the base is solid or of pieces of metal shaped to hold the disk and the gem, provided it is stable...stability is important.”

“I understand you may not be able to provide all these services individually but I will pay you extra to take care of the necessary details.”

He finished, then waited patiently to see what the person he spoke to thought of the admittedly...strange request.

Pescado

To Fenrisulfr, it seemed that the glassblower was alright with the job. She didn't seem particularly joyful about it and who would, when they had been making globes and more globes for the past month. Even the elven boy was scared of seeing anything circular.

He stood there and watched the discussion between Pescado and Iseult.

"Sir, you have a staff!" The elven child was interested now. This wasn't just an ordinary arcana user.

Duncan

Fenrisulfr Gil'dae was standing behind the counter, slightly dozing off. His eyelids fluttered up and down and when the door opened, the boy's elbow slid off the counter. The only source of structure had failed the boy, forcing him to be awake. He stood up, straighter.

The customer entered, but Fenris may no sign of greeting him. Instead, he allowed the customer to observe the great works of glass in silence. They were the Fluersdotter's work and rarely anyone in the lonely city of Arconis entered besides from the regular Arconians. He looked foreign, someone that didn't come from here. Maybe he did. Fenris didn't recognize him, so that was his best assumption.

"Serale sir!" At the mention of an order, he quickly jotted it down in his trusty blank book. The pen scratched across the page and in a few seconds, half the page was filled.

"I am just the assistant sir, but I can call Miss Iseult and see if she is willing to make this.

The boy, without asking the man his name, turned back and nearly ran to the workroom, checking if the glassblower was there. If she wasn't, he would check the upper floors of the store.

"Miss, there's a customer that requested a special order. If Miss Iseult wants, I can show her the order. I wrote it down in this book."

She nodded slightly at his second request. "That should be easily done, although it would be a matter of how thick the glass is. Are you expecting a hollow orb? Or something more solid. The walls will have to be thick for the glass to be harder to break. Of course, anything I make will have the possibility of shattering, but I can make the possibility...smaller."She folded her arms across her chest as she further considered it. "When you say medium, how large are you thinking? Four inches across? Five? Smaller, maybe? Three?" She pressed her lips together as she tried to reconcile her notion of medium with his.

"There's also a matter of color. Did you want plain glass? Clear? Or a specific color? That goes also for the marbles. I know one mage who likes orbs to be done according to colors so he can tell the spells apart." She regarded him frankly. "And some people simply have preferences."

At Fenris's outburst, her brows arched slightly, but she said nothing, did not even slide a glass that demonstrate approval or disapproval--simply focused on the commission that the saurid was trying to place.
Duncan
During the work brightening, Iseult was almost always found in the back room, working. As such, her assistant found her in short order, working the glass into shape with a focused intensity, her eyes briefly flickering towards Fenris as the door popped open and the youth explained the situation. She nodded slightly, but looked back at what she worked to create, then at Finn, who happened to be working with her that brightening "Don't let that get too much cooler," she instructed him simply, handing off the pipe to him and pulling her gloves from her hands and shifting around the room until she came to where Fenris was standing with the book in hand.

She studied it for a moment, made a slight noise that could have been interpreted several different ways. "Better to speak to him myself, I think." The words were not meant to be condescending, but Iseult liked to have an idea of what the customer really wanted--it was why she had abandoned the large workshop in Jaedaxia in favor of a smaller store in Arconis. She might come across as rude and uninterested to some folk, but she took a genuine interest in what people asked of her.

The glassblower emerged out into the front room, a little disheveled and with a sheen from working close to the hot furnaces in the back room. She minded her appearance little and nodded slightly towards the man on the opposite side of the counter. "Fenris explained what you wanted. It sounds straightforward enough, to a point. You want something much like a mirror...only made of clear glass instead?" Her brows arched slightly. "I don't have the sort of metal or jewel that you want here, but I can get a hold of it."

She rubbed a hand against the side of her neck, just skirting the gill markings. "What sort of metal? Silver? Gold? I'll also need to know the sort of gem you're looking for and the size of the glass you want. Three feet? Or are you thinking a little larger?" She had slid out a parchment of her own, fingers flipping open a wooden box that contained her charcoals.

TS: The Month of Aperitus, Era XV Post Fractum.

When Van happened by the Tidewater Glass & Crystals he couldn't help but find nothing really attention-grabbing at the store-front. From the unimaginative wooden signboard to the boring design of the structure there was practically nothing to pique the half-elf's interest, save the beautiful glass window.

Unassuming. That was exactly the kind of shop this was and from Vanderlou's experiences these were the shoppes which sold more than what could be seen with the eyes met the eyes, and it was probably this belief which pushed him to open the door and slip into the shop.

"Serale... anyone in here?"

Vanderlou

Fenrisulfr's head perked up from the counter and he yawned, stretching his hands high and up. He released his hands and scratched the back of his head. The new voice had apparently woken him from his slumber and though he was not normally a slacker, the past month of making globes had worn the elven child. Sniffing, he lifted the lids of his eyes, revealing a dark green. He widened them at the sight of the half-elf, fidgeted and fell from his stool.

A loud thump filled the store followed by a shout of pain. The elven boy got up quickly and smiled. It was an awkward entrance that he just made and he intended to make it up with a cheerful greeting. "Serale, sir. My name's Fenris. Ask me for help if you have any questions concerning the glassware."

He was an apprentice of Iseult Fluersdotter, who had arrived here just a month ago. Though a novice at this trade, even a stranger could spot the interest he held in glassblowing. There was a special gleam in his eyes when he stared at the glass that was incomparable to most people.

There was no way that this boy could be the owner of the shop, that was Vanderlou's quick conclusion as to his role here. Probably new too, or at least that was what the boy's clumsiness implied. "I'm just looking around, not really a big fan of glassware but I found the window masterfully crafted. It reminded me of the quality of Daltinan stained windows."

As Vanderlou looked around he would lean here and there occasionally, his unnaturaly deep blue eyes scrutinizing the most beautiful ware the shop had to offer and judging by the slight smile on his lips he was finidng things to his liking, at least for the moment.

Iseult nudged the door open and caught it with the flat of her foot, muttering impatiently at the white-gray dog that slunk in behind her, tail wagging slightly as he paced over to the counter and ducked behind it, the sound of a happily slurping puppy resounding through the room as Verre found his water bowl. She let the door shut behind her before really appraising the room. She shifted a look towards Fenris, then over to the young man, barely more than a youth himself, who paced about the room, inspecting the goods she'd arranged on the shelves. Fenris looked a little ruffled, but it was more an embarrassed ruffled than alarmed.

"Serale," she greeted the customer, nodding towards him slightly even as she strode across the store and situated herself to stand behind the counter, a few paces down its length from Fenris. The floor was wet--Verre had slopped the water over the bowl's edge to dampen the floor. She frowned down at the dog, but didn't bother. It didn't really seem to be anything she could fix.

"I haven't seen Daltinan windows," she remarked after a moment, brows arching slightly as she regarded Vanderlou, the look itself almost a challenge. He wasn't, after all, a big fan of glassware. She'd heard that as she came in through the door. "But I'm glad you like the window." Really. She was. But only if he'd actually buy some glass because, honestly, she wasn't certain why else he'd bother coming in if it had only been the window that interested him.

The unexpected arrival of an exotic beauty with impossibly perfect proportions stole Vanderlou's complete attention - and why wouldn't she? Her more than ample bosom, the almost exaggerated curves of her feminine frame that left practically nothing to imagination and that expression which reminded him of Amelia in her worse moments were more than enough to catch any man's interest.

"Judging by the way you speak I'd have to assume that you own this shop," he smiled, turned and bowed slightly at the curvaceous woman as if to acknowledge her presence. "I'm Vanderlou, you've got a lovely shop here. Not to mention an enthustiastic apprentice."

"Anyway I won't beat around the bush, you seem look like a woman who means business after all. I stepped into your shop on a whim and if you have something unusual enough I might be willing to buy a few things on a whim as well."

Fenrisulfr, with the arrival of Iseult, felt instant relief that the attention was carried over to him. His own attention was focused to Verre and he knelt down to pet the dog, rubbing its ears and back. He noticed the trail of...slime that the dog seemed to have left. The elven child grinned nervously, still rubbing the dog.

"It'll dry eventually...right?" He whispered to the dog, laughing silently to himself.

He soon got tired of kneeling and sat, crossed legged on the cold floor. The Gil'dae continued petting the dog softly, watching once again how Iseult handled a customer. Honestly, he wondered how she was able to sound so professional while he himself so...inexperienced. Then again, it was her that had took the time and dedication to learn glassblowing for a long time while he himself only learned it for a few months.

So he stayed quiet and it was like he wasn't even at the shop.
