[SotOH]More Than Just Sitting [Ab’reth & Ar’ileth; Closed]

Assuming the pair of Vysstichi followed the katta as he turned down the western hallways, after a few moments travel time they came to a small door that led out to a private garden. Several rocks and plants dotted the terrain, the area apparently terraformed to be more appealing, though to keep the plantlife alive they needed constant supervision. The one who watched over them was Annai.

Annai was seated on a polished hardwood deck, eyes closed. Her legs were crossed, her hands sitting open, palms up, on her knees. She probably could have been made to be beautiful if she took the time to take concern with her appearance. As it was she looked rather plain a half-elf with mousy brown hair pulled back into a ponytail and a deep shade of jade rest in her irises...when they were open.

"Annai...I have brrrought two trrravelerrrs who wish to learrrn of meditation." The half-elf's eyes did not flicker, nor did she flinch at the sudden noise and presence of the three beings.

"Very well, you may leave them in my care." The katta nodded and turned, retreating and closing the door behind him. The woman, without moving nor opening her eyes, asked her first question.

"Feel free to have a seat," she commented, motioning to the hard, smoothly polished wood where she herself was sitting. "What do you wish to be called, you two?"

Ab'reth Yelkith is a dubious Denizen
Like a good little male Ab’reth followed as instructed. He was quiet. He was always quiet.

He was also really interested in the mousy little half-elf, and what she could possibly teach them. Control was fun. Controlling others, making them suffer, making them scream, breaking them, these were past time they enjoyed. Control was important, and so, self control was paramount.

Meditation offered the opportunity to protect from the games of others. It offered a person a chance to gain self control, perchance, to know the goddess better.

He’d do his best to learn, even from the lightborn, even from a half-breed.

So he sat, but it was the question of what they’d wish to be called that didn’t sit well with him. Was she a mystic? Was she in their heads already? He didn’t know, but either way, there was little change on the surface. They’d likely stick with pretenses.

“My name is Ax'in Vare'diwan… He said, taking a seat on the wooden floor, copying the pose and posture that the half elf had, as well as he could.

His companion was free to introduce herself, and explain their relationship. She was so much better with people.

Ar'ileth Yelkith is a dubious Denizen
Ar'ileth was a little slower in seating herself, taking her time to look upon the half-elf, openly, brazenly examining her form. The woman, it seemed, was irrepressibly plain, and strangely within the habit of holding her eyes closed. Not attractive or intriguing enough to pique the young female's desires, Ar'ileth was also a tad offput by the fact that they would be required to learn from this half-breed. She was of lesser blood, after all- the taint of two dogs mixed as one.

The young female assumed a seat, crossing those thoughts from her mind as she spoke, after her brother, in an equally soft tone.

"Brell Vare'diwan." Was all that she said, having been asked nothing more, for the time.

Naturally, Ar'ileth found the notion of being trained by this half-breed demeaning, combination of slave races that she was. They would use her, however, as any craftsmen would use their tools- gleaning all they could of her knowledge, until she was finally spent.

Such was how they acted, after all, and how they always would.

OOCSorry guys. I wrote this--and lost it--three times before I eventually got a successful draft that didn't somehow get lost. If it seems droll, that's why. :(

"Very well Ax'in, Brell," Annai began without even openiing her eyes, accepting their names at face value--though whether she believed them to be the truth was another matter entirely, "The idea behind meditation is a simple goal but a complex task. In essence, the goal is to get one to go beyond the conditioned 'thinking' mind and and find a deeper state of relaxation and awareness. Perhaps one of the most simple manners of doing so is to not think...a much harder task than many realize." The half-elf fell quiet for a long moment, listening to their breathing, and nodded slowly.

"To reach that state of relaxation, one must first learn a few key concepts, but two main points will be touched on in your lesson; controlled breathing and controlled posture. What I will instruct you to do will by no means be the pinnacle of these areas, it will simply allow you to grasp the fundamentals of meditation, as it usually takes eras of neigh daily practice to achieve a mastery of such skills." Still she hadn't once opened her eyes as the other two sat there, attempting to imitate her posture.

"To be able to breathe correctly, one most first learn how to posture themselves correctly so the diaphragm can do its work...for now I will tell you exactly how to find the simple seated posture...unless there are any questions as of yet...?" It was not asked in annoyance, simply curiosity. Her carefully paced alto voice seemed to be perfect to calm most beings, and probably even in Vysstichi incited a degree of naturally felt relaxation...which may or may not bother the pair, depending on if it was felt and how it was reacted to.
