Fen Jin is unknown and forgotten
Pouch Alms for the Poor (Open to PCs or Mods)

Cycle 1, Brightening 9, Melora, in the Season of Spring, Era II of the Celestine Mandate, Era XIV Post Fractum, the Second Era of the Regency of Milo L'Evienne

The poor and destitute account for many of the citizens in a large city such as Prime; men, women, and children whose lot in life is to suffer and want. Their backgrounds are varied: some were born to an unfavorable class; some made unwise decisions in life and found themselves cast down to the gutters; and others choose the life of a beggar as one void of work and responsibility. Regardless of how they arrived in their current circumstances, all of the poor and homeless share a common fate at the bottom of the empire’s food chain--they are the unwanted and unloved children of the crown.

Fen Jin had considered the poor to some notable degree of contemplation; however, an academic philosophy of the topic is not enough to truly understand the lifestyle and plight of society’s untouchables. How do these people get on, and what drives them to continue in a society that spits upon them? A better question might be to discern why the rest of society maintains a dog-eat-dog viewpoint where selfish ambition is prized above all else.

The young Kemite woman had cashed in twenty crowns for an equivalent amount of silver shillings. Armed with a sack full of hope, she quietly made her way through the streets of Prime to pay visit on the nameless ones who society has turned a blind eye to. Beggars, bums, and vagabonds; Fen Jin gently approached all who appeared to be in need and offered them a glint of silver. It wasn’t much, but the coins might help purchase some bit of food and make this brightening slightly less abhorrent than the last.

Much could be learned about society from mingling with the lowest class, and Fen Jin hoped to see something that would enlighten her to the nature of humanity and the struggle for material wealth.
