The Wilds of Acumin And They who Dwell There (Private Carnasch)
Imperos 6
The youngest ranger of the city of Acumin rangers walked out into the forest surronding the forest city enjoying the enviroment and the light from the Suns. She looked up into the sky, her grey eyes taking in the glory fot the sky as the suns neared the horizon.
She held her bow over one shoulder as she went farther into the forest. She paused as she ran a hand along one of the branches that lay low along her path.
She paused and looked around the tree's trying to figure out each one would be the best climbing tree to view the suns setting. She missed haveing the chances to go and see the suns setting, sometimes it was hard to see these events with here schedule and having to guard the border.
Philyra choose one promising tree, and slipped a little as she tried to climb up one of the branches. The branch broke and she frown and then dropped the branch and turned towards another tree that appeared to have a less nice view, but stronger limbs. She climbed the tree and settled back in on one of the branches to watch the setting of the suns.

Carnasch strode inbetween the trees as the sun set and the Darkening began. As he walked he began to enjoy himself, humming loudly as he headed for the stream to get water for the next morning.
As he walked closer to Acumin, though still some distance away, he spotted a dot of red aways in front of him. Breaking into an easy distance eating lope, his long legs pumping effortlessly. Leaping the small stream that had been his previous destination, he caught sight of the red dot.
Only, it wasn't a red dot, it was a woman, with shining red hair, and she was walking in his direction. She was very beautiful, with voluptous curves and a pretty face. He tripped slightly on a tree root, and just managed to keep from falling flat on his face. Kicking the offending tree, he turned back to the woman, she looked young, maybe an elf though, so it was hard to tell. She could be Era's old and look like a twenty five Era human. She dressed like one of the rangers from the town, all in greens and browns, and she carried a long bow and quiver, and she probably knew how to use it. Maybe not. He'd met any number of city folk who owned a bow but couldn't hit a mile wide hill with it.
Stepping closer to the tree so she'd have a harder time spotting him, he watched her come closer. He considered triing to slip away, when she began climbing a tree. As she started up she slipped, and the branch broke. She looked at it and frowned, her plump lower lip pouting slightly, she looked at the tree, then dropped the branch.
Snorting out a laugh at her mishap, Carnasch dipped behind the tree and stood there for a minute or two until he was certain she hadn't heard him. Peering around the tree again, he was suprised to find her gone. Scanning the area, he found her perched in a tree next to the one that she had attempted to climb, her bright red hair flashing against the sun light.
Walking up to her openly, he called, 'Very graceful of you my lady, tell me, was the first tree so difficult for you that you had to find another?' His face split in a broad grin flashing neat even teeth, Or perhaps you feared that the other branches could not hold your weight outright? I think they could even hold me if I tried.' He laughed outright now, but was cautiously ready to spring away if she should try to use the long bow she carried.

Philyra looked over at the man standing near the tree as a strand of her red hair fell over her face. She pushed it away and looked down at man who was apparently enjoying her little stunt. Her grey eyes took in the mountian of a man. He was most defently easy on the eyes. She raised an eyebrow and listened to him.
He also had a tongue on him. Philyra was used to men commenting on her flaming red hair, or her shape, and also used to them stairing at the shape as well.
This man was different, the frown explained a lot about him though. She leanded against another branch and smiled down at the man. It was a special smile though, the kind saved for special occasion and people, and many a young man had grown to hear that smile.
"Hmm a big mouth." She tossed her hair back to show her lack of concern over his comment about her weight. "So does that cavity allow room for your brain or did you depose of that already." She leaned back again and rested against the trunk. "Are you storing it in your pants, or did you hand it over to your trained flees?"

Slightly stung by this womans sharp tongue, and not understanding her unwarranted behavior, Carnasch planted his hands on his hips and leaned forward slightly, a scowl like a summer thunder storm appearing on his handsome face.
He called up, 'A sharp tongue youve got there missy,' His eyebrows tightened further causing a small dark 'V' to appear in his forehead, 'to bad that quality does not extend to the rest of your facilities.' He couldn't help but admire the veiw she presented, but his confusion and anger blocked any reaction to her curved form.
He moved a step closer to the tree, still starring up at her lithe form, Carnasch informed her, 'And as for the where abouts of my brains, they are niether in my pants, nor have I turned them over to these fleas you speak of,' As he takes another step forward, 'They reside firmly in my head, but i would not trust you to know such things, considering you seem to have lost yours amongst the trees.'

Philyra blinked at the young man blinking in suprise. He looked geniunely hurt by her comment. The young woman raised the other eyebrow and starighed at the young man in suprise. She tilted her head back and started laughting, not a vicious laugh but a strangle gentle one that comes from pure enjoyment. "I apologist for my statement. I miss understood your intent."
She shook her head. "You are right though, I lost my brain to the wilds along time ago, as well as most of my soul." She said patting the tree.
"Now get that well formed butt up this tree and show me your a better climber, or else I think your brag is going to be just that, a brag." She patted a brank near her.

Surprise registering in his expression, Carnasch's thoughts instantly turned to trickery, unsure of what to do, and suddenly stumped in his tracks he stood there for a few seconds. His eyes narrowed and widened as confused thoughts ran around in his head, realizing her comment about his butt, his face blushed and he ducked it to hide from her seeing. Glancing up at her, he noted her quizical look and realized she was at least partially serious about joining her in the tree!
Suddenly decided, he pulled his axe from its loop and dropped it. Then he leaped high and caught a branch some eleven or twelve feet from the ground. The tree swayed wildly as he swung himself upon the branch, Grunting loudly with the effort, he quickly scampered with amazing agility (for someone of his size) up to the branch she had offered him. Once he was situated himself next to her, he cocked an eyebrow up and gave her a small, slightly smug, but also slightly bashful smile.

Philyra felt the tree shake as he jumped into the tree. Her grey eyes widen, as she watched a the muscles move in his body, it wast really that far of a jump for someone at his height, but it appeared to require a full body streach as his arms reached upwards and grabbed onto the branch. She hadn't ever see someone do something like that before. Surronded by either elven or older human rangers, that type of feat of strength was new to her. She just blinked controled the color of her cheeks.
She grabbed the tree as it shook though to keep from falling out of the tree, but lossened the grip as she watched him actually haul himself up the branch. Gods the man's arms muscles. She could remember the last times she watched that many muscles move all at once, let alone seen that type of movement.
"Well I see that I am in the precence of a master climber." She said with her half smile. She wasn't going to wilt in the precense of a muscle bound male. Even though certian parts of her felt that melt would be the most correct reaction.
"My name is Philyra, and what would the name of my personal Aslan be?" She said with a raised eyebrow.

Instead of answering her question about his name Carnasch apologized, 'I'm sorry that you missunderstood my meaning earlier,' He smiled again flashing white teeth, 'and I hope you were not hurt when I climbed the tree. It was not my intention for it to shake so.'
She was even more lovely up close, her cotton blouse and tight vest did little other than exemplify her full chest, and her long slim legs were covered in tight leather leggings with slim knee high boots. He felt as though he should say something smart or coy but he didn't know how, and he didnt want to start another row. A thought apeared in his head, a memory of his past tries at courting and the embarrasments he'd undergone at the hands of the other male suitors. He found himself torn once again between his longing for companionship and his hatred of others.
This conundrum made him clam up and get a slightly scared look in his eyes, like an animal trapped and unable to see the way out. Carnasch's eyes looked around wildly to find an escape, but he didnt truly want to leave the red haired nymph beside him, so he froze up and merely continued his frantic searching of a way out.

Philyra waited until the tree had finished waving back and forth before she sat back against the trunk again. Her grey eyes looked at the youth before her as she smiled kind of a silly half smile. She patted his knee, feeling the muscles under her hand, but she was let it rest for only a moment, long enough to register that it was their before she streached out her hand. "You know that Acumin has one of the lovelest views from its trees."
The suns had traveled across the sky nearing the eastern horizon. Her figured was out stretched as she began to point towards the edge of the sheild. "The light can cause a spectacular light show across the sheild it you watch the suns set."
Her voice wasn't judgemental it was actually fairly quiet like their was something she didn't want to distrube. This was the area were she was the most comfortable. Her she could watch the glory of the world as the suns set. Her mind though back to the night that this area was filled with smoke. It wasn't always this lovely, once it was destroyed by the dark elves who lived beneath the city.
It was only for a moment though. She sighed contently her hand plucking a leaf and playing with it for a absently mindelly. She looked again back at the giant of a man sitting next to her. He appeared to be nervous and his eyes were looking back and forth. She smiled again and patted the man's hand her full lips smiling friendly.
"So it appears thought that you are going to need a name." she said tapping her chin "I am thinking you will be Cetheron since you reminded of the stoike god." She smiled and leaned back. "So do you get to watch the sun set often Cetheron?"

Her touches unnerved him slightly, but her voice calmed him. It was a new sensation, being comfortable with another person in the area. He watched the colors on the shield, and it was beautiful, but he was still distracted by the woman beside him. She sighed when the colors faded from the sky. There was still some light left and Carnasch new it would be twice as hard to find his camp again if he waited till it was completely dark.
Thinking this he said quietly, 'I should go, it will be dark soon and my camp is some ways away.' He looked at her for a moment, then asked, 'Will you be going back to town?' He turned off the branch and looked back at her. His feet planted on the branch below the one where they sat, his hands holding the branch where he sat, and he leaned back so that he wasnt as uncofortably close. Uncofortable for him at least, she seemed to enjoy him there.
She looked a little upset at his sudden dismount of the limb, and he wanted to stay, but at the same time he couldn't cope with the new feelings and sensations she inspired in him. None of the other women he'd met had ever stayed near him, let alone asked him to join her. They had preffered the silver toungued pretty boys, or ignored him in the hopes they might marry to a richer man. He looked at her, but not at her body, as beautiful as it was. No he looked at her face, triing to decipher a meaning out of it. Paused there, he waited as the suns fell behind him.

The half elven woman smiled as the man tried to escape. She looked over at him grey eyes sparkling with mirth. "Cetheron you need to enjoy the full sunset not just a portion of it." She said indicating back towards the setting suns.
The red haired woman moved to sit on the branch her legs swaying back and forth. "I think your afraid of me." She said her teeth flashing with her smile. She arched her eyebrow. "I can't get your name out of you my handsome Cetheron." She said raising and eyebrow and twisitng her head slightly so that her hair fell temptingly along the curves of her face.
"I also can keep you here long enough to full apologis for my retort." She stepped down onto another branch below the one she was sitting on. She gentle lowered one foot downwards and then raised her body of the branch. she stepped onto the branch with the grace that only a elf could muster. Her booted foot had the delicacy of a slippered as she place weight on the branch. As she slipped the other foot down towards the branch it seemed to slip along her the planted leg.
Her upper body was moving at the same time as her feet though. It was amazing how many parts she could move at one time, and in ways that men never dreamed of. "Cetheron." She said her eyes twinkling as she lowered her chin so that she had to look upwards towards him.
Her hands reached on and settled on the branch, but that wasn't the end, for his backwards movement she leaned forward chest coming first as she laid her hands on the branch and then her arms so that she could lean with her head on her hands resting on the branch. Her grey eyes looking at him as a lock of read hair curled itself around her face.
"You can't leave the apologist aren't finished."

As she leaned across the branch from him, Carnasch noted a new look in her shining grey eyes, he didnt know what it was, but her attitude seemed to have changed. And he didn't understand what she meant shen she said that the apologies weren't finished. He thought about it for a moment his confusion clear on his face. Finally he said, 'I'v chanded my mind,' leaning a little further back, 'you still have your brains. I'm sorry i acted so rashly towards you.'
As he leaned even further back, triing to keep the distance barrier he had set, his footing slipped, but his hands didn't so his legs skipped forward, knocking hers from beneath her in the motion and found himself sitting on the limb, holding the a very startled Philyra in his lap. A look of shock and horror passed over his face, and he managed to stammer, 'I ,I, I, I'm sorry.... your your not hurt are you?' His face still registered a terrified expression at the thought that he might have harmed her by accident.
Carnasch prayed silently that his buffoonsim wouldn't cause her to be upset with him, and he thanked every god he could think of that he caught her, her small frame seemed so fragile that he didn't think she'd have survived the twenty foot fall. Looking at her intently he waited for her responce.

The man was trying to get farther away, and caused a raised eyebrow. Gods the man must be a wildman he apparently hadn't been near a woman ever. Philyra secretly wondered about his past relationships. She was sure that he was young an nieve to this game, he didn't behave like a past love struck
Philyra grabbed for something as her foot was kicked out from under her as basically slipped off the branch. She felt her leg connect with the branch as she fell, and felt the pain shoot through her as she heard the bone smack.
She landed on the muscle bond cluts and squeaked as the pain rased up his foot and straight towards her brain. She didn't realize it but her leg was already turning purple and blue from the impact.
She lay on his lap blinking trying to figure out what just happened. She raised two fingures and placed them on his lips. The normal enjoyment she would have gotten from the action was lossed on her as she looked at her foot, and attempted to circle it to check its condition.
The pain instantly shot up her slender leg into the rest of her body. "Well it looks like its sprained at least." She said matter of factly. "Well my shy Cetheron." She said with a half brave smile. She twisted around on his lap until she could wrap her arms around his neck. "I am alive and even a little amused." She said showing her sincer amusment. She even laughed. "My ankle sadly isn't as well as the rest of me." She smiled and her eyes grew wide as she looked up at him. "I guess you get to now take care of me."

Any man would have lept for joy at hearing this beauty say that to them, and Carnasch wanted to, but he didn't think it a good idea under the cercumstances. He knew she must have been hurt badly for her to act so strangely. She actually seemed happy that he'd almost knocked her from the tree! Accepting the idea of her needing him to at least get out of the tree, he thought of ways to get her down without hurting her again. Normally, he'd have jumped from here, it was only twenty feet or so, but that would certainly jar her ankle, if not the rest of her.
He held her close, feeling oddly protective of the small princess in his arms. She smelled of pine needles and her skin was very soft, and smooth. Eventually he came to the decision that she would have to hold onto his back until they reached the ground. Shifting her slightly he craned his head around till he could look at her. 'I'm so sorry,' he said quietly, 'this is the second time since we've met that I almost got you killed.' He shifted her body in his arms slightly, not wanting her to leave them, but he said it anyway, 'I can carry you down if you'll hold onto my back.' Her face seemed slightly pale, probly from her injured ankle. He said, 'I can take you back to Acumin once we get down but I fear it will be well into the darkening before we arrive.'

Philyra ankle was the only part that hurt, and had been trained as a ranger so she was able to quickly slip around so that she was clinging to his back as he climbed down. She contined to hold her hands around his kneck as they climbed back down, and slipped her legs around his waist. Admitadly the one hundred and fifteen pound woman wasn't much of a weight for the man, but she wanted to distribute the weight across much of his body as possible.
She was quiet for a moment. She hadn't ever trusted a man this much before in her life. They were cute and attractive for sure, and also fun to tease. She hadn't ever clung to male before. It was strangle nice as she listened to his breathing, and fel the contors of his muscles move.
"Don't be silly Cetheron. You are not going to carry me back toward Acumin tonight. There isn't any way well make it in good time, and this ankle needs to heel itself with as little boncusing possible." Her voice was soft but firm as she spoke. "So it appears we get to make camp here or if yours is close by there." She flinched a little at the pain. "Also I am not made, its one of the danger of climbing a tree. It happened and we need to move past it. I am not holding a gruge and you should stop beating yourself up." She realized she needed help not a self inflicting pin cushion. "Remember that you were still the one who caught me and kept me from tumbling to the ground." She said her body pressed against his back, and her voice close to his ear. She kissed him on the check. "For that I am thankful."
