Early Morning, Brightening 2 of Ioannes
Era I of the Celestine Mandate
Era X of the Age of the Darkening
Lehan shivered nervously in his green robes. Though it was now summer and the three suns warmed the earth like a well-fed fire, it was currently still morning and the air had the chill bite to it that only summer mornings had. The grass was still damp with dew and he was aware that the bottem of his robe was becoming ever wetter and ever heavier. No matter - he could dry it out later and everyone else who came to the meeting would no doubt get just as wet as he. The druid shifted uncomfortably on the large stone he'd chosen as a seat. No doubt it had once served as part of a building long since destroyed. Several stones of such size were scattered about the small clearing chosen as a meeting place. It was easily large enough to hold however many people decided to show up, and had a clear view of the spring that served as their temple.
He and a few other people had served has leaders in the past few months in the wake of the battle. There was no thane, no vice thane, never had been much of a council anyhow, and as such when the town woke on Kalendryas 26th, there'd been nobody official to lead them in their task of rebuilding. Those with more leaderlike personalities had quickly pulled together to mobilize the remaining survivors and together they'd all rebuilt their town into the emerald beauty it was now. However, now that the majority of the rebuilding was over, those who'd taken roles of leadership wished to relinquish them to a more official leader. While they couldn't officially choose a thane for themselves as a govermental official was needed to do that, they were going to nominate someone as temporary leader until the governor or someone of equal authority could come and confirm them.
Everyone in town had been invited to come to vote and help decide who would lead them from now on. It was obvious that they would still all have a role in the decisions... with a population of less than 30 people, it would be hard not to include everyone. But the town had always had an official leader, and it was time that they had one again. So they were all meeting in this clearing after Rosyun, to choose their next figurehead. The skies were clear, indicating it would be quite a nice brightening. Though it was earlier in the cycle and thus they were farther from the suns and the air was cooler, it was proving to be a relatively warm summer brightening indeed, morning chill aside. The nice weather was a positive omen for the rest of the brightening; hopefully the meeting would go the way of the weather.
OOC: All are welcome to participate, whether you want to become thane or what have you.
