Double Axe Acumin Under Attack [Private - Borax, Tellurion & Huturo]

Borax was attacked nearly the instant he stepped through the gates of Acumin. There was no gatekeeper, but there were people to hear his shouts. Out of the bushes of the Dolwoods, the dwarf saw a very dark shape emerge. It was a great deal taller than him - probably about 6 feet tall, and as it made it's way over to him, outlined only in shadows, the dwarf got the distinct impression that it was going to do something violent to him. With each lumbering step, the dwarf's nostrils felt overwhelmed as the smell of corpse gas hit them in what could have constituted as an aromatic attack. The creature seemed to be slightly bowed over, but it was hard to tell due to the shadows and the lack of light. Though the forest was burning and the fire was rapidly expanding, the light did no more than outline the creatures form. All that was certain was that the unarmed dwarf had better either run, or find something to defend himself with... this thing was big, smelly, and looking for a fight.

Tellurion and Huturo didn't get very far away from the gates either before realizing in exactly how much trouble they were. Behind them, they heard a sudden boom as an explosion rocked the forest, adding to the cacaphony of screams, angry roars, and the crackles of the fire. The nimalni elf's horse screamed in fear and reared up, dumping both of her riders and dashing off into the town. Both Tellurion and Huturo hit the ground with a thud, landing apart from each other fortunately enough but with enough force to knock the wind out of their chests. It appeared that they had just been dropped into the middle of something definately akin to Hell... though they personally weren't under attack, it was only a matter of moments before they were discovered by some of the cities attackers and became targets themselve.

OOC: Tellurion, I'm going to delete your post at the tavern and have you attacked before you reach the tavern. I'm also assuming you remounted your horse - please PM me if this is incorrect. I may not be the moderator of this thread in the future, FYI - possibly either Snake or Windhaven will take this thread.

Tal got up unsteadily to his feet and pulled his sword from its scabbard, holding it in a defensive pose whilst looking around warily.

"Where's the Imperial army when you need it, eh, Huturo?" he asked sarcastically, looking carefully around for anywhere they could hide and get away alive from this rather dangerous area.
"Come, let's find somewhere to hide this thing out before we get accosted by more than the usual muggers. I want to stay alive long enough to listen to the end of your story!"

Tal looked into the forest, and he was sure he could see glowing red eyes. Perhaps that was not the best place to be. The city, however... He saw a forest itself of ruined houses and buildings, perfect places to hide and ambush whoever wanted a piece of his hide. Plus, Huturo's horse was running into the city. It would do no good for his Companion's horse to come to harm.

"What say we chase after your horse, and THEN find somewhere to wait this thing out?" he asked, as he went over to help her up. Tal kept his head low, hopefully below the brushline.

Huturo was already starting to pick herself up when Tell came over to help her the rest of the way. She cursed inventively, then screamed, "God damnit Kol!" Kol slowed, tossed his head and winnied as if to say, 'You're nuts lady!', then continued into town at full gallop.

Huturo cussed again before pulling out her Sayas swords. "You're right Tell. These things are coming out of the forest, the middle of the town is probably safer." She huffed "Into Hell huh?" She took a quick glance around. Everywhere was pure chaos. She started of towards the street where Kol had ran, eyes peeled for trouble.

As they passed an abandoned cart she noticed a scuffle near the gates. "Hey Tell!" She yelled. "Over there!" She pointed. She jerked her head towards it and started off at a run to assist the person who was being assailed.

OOC: I'm assuming I can help him. If I can't, I'll edit my post.

Borax Bloodaxe is an upstanding Citizen
(nice start)
After noticing the thing coming out of the woods, Borax mind was confused. Nearly a minute ago he was glad to have reached Acumin, but now he wasn't so sure that his place was here. He had to come up wich a plan, and he had to do it quick.
Because he had no weapon (but for a dagger) his first idea was to run away from the thing that he saw. The first problem he encountert was that his legs where not so glad with running, because of the long walk to this dammned city.
But running he did. Borax ran right in through the gates of Acumin, hoping to see someone to help him or some place to hide. He did'nt know if the thing followed him, but he ran as fast as he could to see if he could hide somewhere.

OOC: I'll be taking over here. Have fun. I know I will.

Borax

Running past the gates as fast as his little dwarf legs could carry him, Borax soon saw that much of the town was no better off. There were groups and individuals all around fighting bigger groups of undead monsters. It seemed he might just have to fight something if he wished to live. And now he had his chance. Running past the gates he stopped for just a split second to look around for a place to hide. Before anything suitable could be found the remains of what looked like an orc came charging at him. The zombified orc ran with such quick pace that tiny pieces of rotten flesh where blowing off him as he came. The creature had pole axe ready to impale Borax. It seemed no one was safe here. And if the axe didn't kill him, the smell defiantly would.

Huturo

As Huturu ran towards the person at the gates, she saw it was a dwarf caught dumb struck as a charging orc ran at him. Armed only with a knife, the dwarf stood little chance against the massive zombie with pointed pole axe. Though rusted, it would cut nicely through the little man. Something had to be done, or there might just be another zombie added to the masses in the form of Borax.

Tellurion

Looking towards the town Tellurion saw what must be the main building. Or at least it was now. It was never intended to be much more than a tavern, but it looked like the focal point of the town’s activities, indeed, it was the last bastion of hope for the town of Acumin. Tell looked back to Huturu in time to see her take off to help a dwarf in trouble not too far off. Deciding whether to go help Huturu or not, Tellurion looked once more back at the town. Coming towards him were the remains of two humans. Both were wearing armor and were pretty near completely decomposed. The bones bleached nearly white, they creaked as they walked. Both were armed with nasty looking scimitars, they were ready for battle.

Tal looked carefully at the advancing dead humans, looked back at Huturo, and figured that he'd run after the person who knew how to wield those swords with deadly skill. It definitely wasn't him.

"Wait up, Huturo!" He yelled, starting to sprint after her. The other two could wait until later, really, and considering what was left of the Town, it would probably be best if he stayed in a group.
He didn't want to run out on his companion, either.

Huturo's breath caught in her throat, and for a split second, she feared she wouldn't be able to save the poor unfortunate soul. Only for a second though. Wildly she stared around, scared that there would be nothing that she could do, for she was still too far away to be of an help to the dwarf. Then something caught her eye. A pitchfork! She snatched it up and then yelled, "OY! Over here you great ugly beast!" The she threw the pitchfork with what she hoped was true aim.

As a reaction, Borax grabbed his dagger from the scabbard and looked at the thing that was running at him.

Knowing that he wouldn't survive the blast from the orc's axe, he planned to duck the orc's swing.

When he planned that, he saw that there where two other people near him, and one of them threw a pitchfork at the orc.

Not waiting for the orc's response, Borax ducked and rolled to the right, so the orc would run past him.

OOC: Huturo, what you did is technically a bunny. You can't use an item unless a moderator specifically states that it is there. I wasn't sure about the cart you mentioned earlier. I thought Lichen might have posted it earlier but was too lazy to check. Well I checked and she didn't put it there so that's kinda a bunny too. I'll let it stay so the thread can keep moving but try not to do it again.

IC:
Huturo
With all the might Huturo could muster, she threw the pointed pitchfork at the charging orc zombie. Her aim was good, but the pitchfork was not. Midway through its flight it began to tip downwards. Instead of impaling the orc as intended the spikes instead hit the orc in its far boot. The orc had little time to respond before his next leg came foreword hitting the shaft and tripping. The force of the fall was enough for the legs to effectively be destroyed. Collapsing into a rotten pile of dust, the orc's legs lay a few feet from Borax. The momentum of the orc was so great that the upper body continued to charge. As it rolled along the ground it broke apart until only the head was left, sitting at the dwarf's feet. Everyone could smell the rot, it was almost unbearable.

Tellurion
Tell ran towards Huturo. He wasn't ready to face anything on his own. Managing to see the orc zombie crumble before the dwarf, he was impressed. It shouldn't take too much effort to kill these beasts. The only problem was that there seemed to be plenty more closing in. They might just be able to make it to the tavern.

Borax
Seeing the outcome of any possible actions taken against the orc, Borax rolled over to the right. Standing after his roll, he saw the head of the orc roll up to his feet. It stunk horribly. The remains of the orc could be seen in a trail heading towards him. Starting at the orc's boots and ending at the head, the trail was about ten feet long. Contained in the dust trail was both the pitchfork, and closer to Borax, was the orc's poleaxe. It could still make a useful weapon, even more so if it was cleaned up and sharpened.

All
The three adventurers now stood by the remains of the zombie. Not far off was the Sooty Cavern Tavern and Inn. They could make it if they hurried. More undead were coming at them. If they worked together, they could manage, but they needed to act fast.

Tal picked up the Poleaxe, putting his sword back into its scabbard. "Ugh, this thing stinks," he commented idly, then looked up and saw a horde of undead things charging (Albeit slowly) towards him. He decided He'd use the sword until he got the large unwieldy weapon cleaned.

"Let's say we head over toward the tavern." Tal said.
"Methinks there might be some live people there."

Tal grinned. "Last stand and all that. Sounds interesting." He looked at the dwarf, and extended a hand to help him up. "Tal Tanendar. Pleased to meet you, Mr...?"

After he kicked the rotting remains of the orc's head away, Borax thanked Tellurion for his help. Because Tellurion seemed to dislike the stinking poleaxe, Borax asked if he could use it until he had a better weapon, because he only had a dagger with him.

If he got the poleaxe or not, he decided to follow the others in the direction of the tavern, so he would not be fighting alone.

OOC: Publicly Humiliated? HA! If I had a nickle.....

IC: Huturo covered her nose and cringed. "Ugh. Rotting pile of filth." she nodded at Tell's suggjestion of the tavern, and for a moment hesitated to be on her way there. What about Kol? She sighed and looked at the tavern again. Kol was a smart horse, he would know where to find refuge. She hoped.

(OOC: Please don't kill my horse)

She sighed again and jerked her head at the tavern. Re asserting her grip on her Sayas swords, she took off at a slight jog to it, stopping only for the others to keep up, and informing Borax her name was Huturo.

As the three adventurers headed towards the tavern, it was not long until Huturo's horse was found. The horse had run into town to a worse fate than what it had run from. Not far from the tavern's main entrance the horse was panicing as several undead skeleton's and zombies came towards the stead. If the group didn't hurry, they horse would not be likely to survive.

Huturo, Tellurion, and Borax didn't need much time to make a decision. All three were under the effects of the adrenaline that had begun to pump through their bodies. Going to the horses rescue with new found courage, they could defeat the monsters easily if they planned well. There were six monsters, 4 bleached skeleton's and two rather juicy zombies. Most looked like either former humans or elves, but it was hard to tell from a distance as well as the extent to which they were decaying. Both of the zombies were armed with clubs, one skeleton had a great sword, the other three had long swords. They wore remains of what looked like a military uniform of some long forgotten regime. Torn black cloth highlighted the skeleton's off white bodies. The three similarly equiped skeleton's bore large round shields depicting the crest of a faded hawk. They belonged to a new regime now, that of the undead.

Closest to the doorof the tavern was one of the zombies and a longsword weilding skeleton. To the adventurers right was two more long sword weilding re-animated corpses. Closest to the group with it's back turned was a zombie. The light caught the club revealing that it might just be spiked with metal nails of various sorts. The last monster was to the trio's left, a bit further back. His great sword was resting on his shoulder as he looked on at his "friends" heading towards the horse. He seemed to notice the group before they were half way to the tavern. Without any seen perceived form of comunication, the undead all looked over at the approaching heros. All turned to fight. They had a singular purpose, brought back against their will to fight the inhabitants of Acumin.

Tal tossed the Poleaxe over to the dwarf.

"Catch."

He pulled out his sword and stayed near Huturo, trusting to the other elf's superior skill and speed. He hoped his group of three's superior speed would help, so he made a suggestion.

"Look, everyone, the undead things are a bit slower than we are, so we have to go in quick. Hit them, then run. What do you say?"

Tal decided to take a swing at the zombie in front of him, before it could turn around fully. With luck, he'd chop the thing in two at the waist. He couldn't trust himself with any other more complex swordplays. As he swung, Tal moved with the blade, so he'd sweep past the zombie, on the other side of it's body from the club with the nasty spiky bits.

Borax was rather glad when he caught the poleaxe. Now he would show them where this weapon was made for. He returned the dagger to its scabbard and grabbed the rather bad smelling weapon firmly with two hands.

The idea of Tellurion was not a bad plan, for an elf, so Borax agreed to hit and run.

With a slight hesitate, Borax ran towards the zombie who was standing in near the door of the tavern. With a weapon in his hands he had never used, he pointed the poleaxe like a lance in the direction of the zombie.

Running towards the rotting remains of a human, Borax aimed for the chest of the thing, hoping to knock it down before it could strike back.

Working together with two elves was not quite the thing Borax had in mind when he was on his way to Acumin, but in this bitter times we all had to work as a team to overcome the rotting, stinking and juicy things.
