Agaenos Phidion is an upstanding Citizen
Last Letter of a Fading Legacy.

Timestamp:
Cryxatum, Summer, Era XI Post Fractum.
Paradigm: Schism in the Church Of Faith.

A parchment bearing a long-lost yet familar handwriting found its way into the house of the half-Thëlyri, Mizushin. Sealed somewhat shoddily by wax, the imperfect handscript was still easily legible, the dark cerulean hue of the ink bearing a message of utmost importance - at least, to both the recipient and the sender.

The slight frayed piece of parchment read thus...

Quote:
Dearest friend, Mizushin,

I hope all is still well with you. First of all, I must give a profuse apology for my prolonged silence - matters in life had become increasingly harsh to me and now I have found myself fleeing to the quiet Frigid River of the Lauryl province for a short period of relaxation along with contemplation of many different aspects in life. In that respect, there is something I must tell you about the Hoplites, and as a Basileus, I have one last... Shall we say request, rather than order, to give you. And it shall be the most important request I could ever make.

Last Era in the Summer, I have contacted Candance Lastra, head of the Synesi Plateia's Academy of Trade faculty, and together we have established an investment deal. The contract is bringing in a considerable amount of income for the Hoplites. I will hereby transfer this deal to you, and you will receive the per-cycle return of the investment from now on. Show this letter to Miss Candance Lastra as a proof, should she so require.

Secondly, I found myself tethered to too many things to the extent where I am beginning to grow weary of seeing conflict and struggles everywhere, and whilst I have not a shadow of a doubt the Hoplites, a faction which, many thanks to you and the founders, is now a realized dream, I must question whether I still have the willpower to continue on. Words of a rambling, retired old man, I know, even though I am nowhere near old. However, in light of this, the title of the Basileus is now formally, in this very letter, handed over to you. The leadership of the faction will now be yours, as I know you have the vibrant spirit and unfaltering sense of righteousness to continue on the dream. Go, dear friend, with all my blessing. I know the Hoplites shall shine brighter under your banner rather than mine.

Meanwhile, however, if you have any matters that you wish to consult with me, I can be found on the northern side of Frigid River. Should you ever decide to come, it will be obvious enough.

Take care, and please inform the others of this. The Empire shall be proudly singing of the Hoplites' deeds.

Founder, friend, yours truly,
Agaenos.

Junzo rested against the seat in his bedroom, the letter cast on his desktop. He breathed in deeply, his fingers pressed to his temple as he rubbed it in small, gentle circles. This was a momentous event for both him, and the Hoplites. He had been travelling much of the Empire, building his networks and businesses, trying at almost every turn to gain resources and power for this purpose. Then upon his return here, to the very city where their faction was born, whose very name honored the ancient defenders of the city's predecessor, he had come to face with this.

Truth be told, it was not an even he had not foreseen. But he had not expected it to happen this way, nor quite so early. The Hoplites were barely an era old, its members as Hoplites barely blooded. The thelyri closed his eyes in thought, carefully considering the effects of this. Practically speaking, he had been one of the driving forces of the Hoplites. He was arguably the most critical proponent of it beyond Prime province. And in the end, it was not the man who made the Hoplites now. No, it was the very essence of the faction, the ideal, that would drive the growth of this faction, Aetheria willing.

Practically speaking he was the best, no, the only real choice to succeed Agaenos as the Basileus of the Hoplites. The blood of storms rode in his veins, and he would do his best to fulfill Agaenos' hopes. And should Phidion return, again Aetheria willing, the thelyri would gladly surrender this position and return to his post as the Second. But for now, this duty was given unto him to fulfil. He would not and could not shirk this responsibility. Hardly at this juncture. As if Agaenos was standing right before him and awaiting his answer, the silver light that glowed from the thelyri's own eyes as he whispered quietly, "It shall be done."

There was no time to waste here, and though the thelyri wished that he could spend the time to stay here and allow the passing of time to wash this shock away from his heart, the practical side of him told him to ignore this idea and move. He focused his mind on the name mentioned by the founder of the Hoplites in this letter, Candace Lastra. His eyes blinked once, twice, as he thought it over. "No time to waste, Junzo. There's no time to waste." He shook his head, whispering softly to himself. He cast his gaze once more over the letter and leaned back to take it into his hands. For a moment he stayed like that, simply looking at the piece of paper which perhaps had shifted fate. One never knew until it was over. Then, wordlessly, he took it up and heaved away from his seat. "No time to waste at all." He smiled slightly sadly to himself, as he departed for the Academy of Trade to meet this Candace Lastra.

This transaction is hereby approved. Mizushin, you now are the head of the Hoplites and own 20 percent of the Academy of Trade. Mizushin, I will get a thread up later where you can speak with Candance Lastra.
