Scroll Redeemer Chronicles ChapterII (private Bloodtalon)

The night's darkness was getting thicker, even in the streets of Abestat. If Bloodtalon was to continue with his bounty hunt, he would need to rest his body. Luckly for the dracon, the Abestat Inn was right in front of him and very inviting. He made his way through the busy nightlife which consisted of mostly merchants running back and forth and yelling at passer-by's to try their goods.

Inside the Inn, Bloodtalon spoke to a short bald human man that stood behind a counter with keys along the back wall.
" 'Allo sirs!" The bald Innkeeper said with his voice choked up by mucus in his throat. "Vat can ay do ya fer"
The Innkeeper scratched his fat belly as he waited for an answer form the dracon.

OOC: do what ever you wnat, but when you get your room go to sleep, but stop when you sleep, ill take over

Bloodtalon is an upstanding Citizen
How deplorable that before the night was through, Bloodtalon had to interact with a human that was not his quarry. Masking his disgust, he spoke quietly to the corpulent ape across the counter, taking care his soft voice belied none of his frustration. "Just a room for tonight."

There really was nothing more to say. Bloodtalon decided he would save his questioning for tommorow, prefering to relax as best as he would be able to for the night.

OOC : Sorry it takes me so long to reply. Internet situation not very stable at the moment.

The streets of Abestat were starting to simmer down, as the night merchants packed up to make room for the day dwellers. The Inn was as quiet as a cemetary. Nothing but slight creaks in the building's frame and the ticks and tocks of the clocks that lined the hallways was making a sound. The room on the top floor, where Bloodtalon was staying, was mind numbingly silent. Nothing but the rare movemnt of the dracon shifting himself in his sleep was to be heard. There were no clocks or even any wind breaking silence through a hole in the wall.

Just when things seemed to have reached their most quiet state, the floor in the hallway creaked...
The small creak broke the silence of the diantars sleep as if someone had smashed a room full of glass. He jetted his eyes open as he laid in bed running his eyes across the black room.

There was another creak and another, just outside the wooden door. A part of Bloodtalon thought it to be nothing more than the shifting of the building, but the other part forced him to sit up on the edge of his bed and stare at the dimmly lit space underneath the door.
Time seemed to have froze as the creaking stopped and the silence began again, and the gaze of the dracon did not move one inch away from the bottem of the door....
"He he he!" A child's laugh rang into the ears of the diantar as the space under the doorway went black! Something rubbed against the door and slid across the wood floor and stopped.
"Your funny!" The innocent sounding voice giggled at Bloodtalon as the creaking made it about halfway down the hall and stopped....
Bloodtalon snapped out of his trance like state and lit a candle. The room lit up with an orange haze. In the middle of the floor was a note.
Blodtalon picked it up and unfolded the paper, the note read...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

THOSE LEFT TO DIE STAY FORGOTTEN.
THOSE FORGOTTEN STAY DEAD.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The note was indeed odd and the laughter disconcerting, so much so that the warrior shook his head good and hard to make sure that he was not still asleep. Unfortunately for his peace of mind, he was quite awake. How ironic that he should escape the nightmares of his dreams for this oddity in the real world. The irony was not lost on Bloodtalon and the diantar snorted in derision, folding the note up once more to place it within the confines of his robes.

Moving quickly, but as quietly as he could, the diantar sprung open his room's door, hoping to catch sight of his messenger. If it lead to a fight, he would have to chance it with little more than his own brawn and magic, as he was neither wearing armor nor carrying his sword.

The door to the room creaked open followed by Bloodtalon jutting his head out of the door to quickly scan the dim hallway. The few candles on the wall lead the dim haze of light to the end of the hallway where the stair well was located.
The Diantar moved the rest of his body outside the doorway very slowly, but swiftly down the hall a few steps. The lighting flickered back and forth making it harder to see anything. He raised his arms in front of him as he walked closer to the stairs.
At the end of the hall was a black lump about half the size of Bloodtalon. The Diantar squinted his eyes in an attempt to see more clearly what it was. From what he could make of it, It was someone standing facing the the stairs, wearing a hood.
Bloodtalon stood still for a moment to make sure it was, in fact, a person down the hall. Moving very slowly, he walked closer and closer to the person, who was just standing still not even facing him. He placed his right hand on the wall to guide himself straight to the end. The figure started to say very very slightley side to side as Blodtalon got closer. The lighting in the hall as flickering more violently than before.
With his left hand, Bloodtalon reached out to grab the shoulder of the short person. The head started to shake. Still standing facing the stairs, the head turned around in a jerky motion and stared straight at Bloodtalon. It was not a face of a child, as it had a terrifying wide grin and eyes that lit up with a green tint.
The look of this face was bad enough, and it drilled into the diantars eyes, then gave a tone deaf giggle of a small child, staring deafly into Bloodtalons eyes. The whole instance lasted a few second, but seemed like an eternity.
Bloodtalon was tossed to the floor without even being touched, then the figure disapeared down the strairs and slammed the door leading to the courtyard. One by one the candles burnt out and left Bloodtalon dazed and in the dark. Maybe the... thing was in the courtyard... wanting to give information to Bloodtalon or to take it all away...

OOC : Oy. It's been awhile. Forgive me if my post sucks, as I fear that I'm a touch of practice.

IC : There were many emotions that the diantar warrior swore he would never feel again, dismissing them as being applicable to only children and cowards. Fear just so happened to be one of those emotions, and yet he couldn't help but feel the spidery stirrings of dread in the back of his mind as he shakily regained his feet in the dark. What the hell was that?

Growling low in his throat, he forced the uneasiness he felt aside in his thoughts. No matter how unusual and nerve-wracking the encounter may have been, that thing knew something. This might be the break that he had waited for.

With one hand on the wall, Bloodtalon started on his way down the steps towards the door that his visitor had disappeared through. I hope I don't regret this...

The door at the bottem of the stairs was partially jammed, but not a struggle for Bloodtalon to open. It creaked as the hinges broke away rust making obvious that this door had not been used ifor quite some time. Bloodtalon was positive the ghoul child went through this door, so he himself was to go through it too.
The outside was so still that the slightest movement would send ripples in the air. The diantar made his way to the courtyard that consisted of some dead trees and a few benches on the side. Appraoching the middle, he scanned the area as best he could see. A few moments later, in the far corner of the yard, was that same black figure, this time starring directly at the dracon. Taking precaution, Bloodtalon moved very slowly towards the child.. or what ever it was and made no mistake this time to raise his guard.
The dead eyes of the child were not lit up this time but rather glossy in the moonlight. The child spoke up with a soft voice mized with a giggle. "Heh heh! You move very slowly, Vermithrax..."

"How the hell did you know my name?" The remark exploded out of the alarmed diantar before he could stifle it down. Mixed in with his fear, the slight stirrings of a rising anger could be felt now. This whole encounter was just too damned odd and he did not like it one single bit, particularily since this damnable hell-child knew his real name. The number of people who had knowledge of that was low, as it was not something that he offered freely, prefering to go by the alias he had adopted many years ago from a gypsy fortune-teller.

He had tried his best to remain in a neutral stance, but upon his surprised exclamation, he had dropped into an aggressive one entirely by reflex. His hands were partially open, fingers slightly curled but not fully clenched into fists so that he could strike with his claws quickly if he need to. His left arm lead ahead of his body and his right arm was kept back, slightly bent and ready to strike if he needed to. His legs followed his arms, only the right leg was slightly bent forward and the back leg was mostly extended out behind him for balance. All in all, his basic aggressive stance. He didn't intend to lash out at the strange visitor, but the shock caused him to subconciously ready himself for a fight.

Cool yourself. Remain neutral. Don't blow this. Once the shock subsided, that thought crossed through the warrior's bewildered mind and he slowly brought himself back to a neutral stance. "Nevermind that. I'm sure I don't care. What I do care about is what do you know about my bounty? What's with all of this?"

The diantar did his best to keep his voice sounding cool and calm, silky smooth like usual. But given the little shock he had just received, he knew that it would probably sound a little bit odd to the 'child'.

"Heh heh heh" The young boy chuckled as his voice began to get hoarser. The childish voice was chopped in the mix of man's and some kind of demonic boom. He lowered his head, shaking it as if with dissapointment as he continued. "You really haven't changed that much... Please lower your stance, you make me nervous with your quick temper." The boy looked back into the diantar's confused gaze.
The wind picked up and rustled the dead branches of the trees that lined the outer courtyard. The hood of the young boy swifted to the side along with his robes.
"It shouldn't suprise you that I know your name... you know mine... I just wanted to tell you that you are doing a good job, just stay on the course you have already chosen..." The boy explained. Without any time to let that ambiguous information sink in, The boy flashed a grin at Bloodtalon and molded with the wind leaving the diantar alone in the courtyard.

...the wind stopped.

OOC : Well, well! Welcome back, Mr. Yurchuk! I was starting to think that you had met with a tragic ninja-related accident.

IC : At the sudden disappearance of the 'child', the diantar warrior's eyes went wide with alarm. Vermithrax darted forward where his unknown pseudo-benefactor had been standing, hoping to catch a glimpse of where it could have possibly vanished. As he had suspected though, he found himself quite alone in the courtyard, alone save for his throbbing head.

This is all getting far too strange. Just what in the hell is going on? It was definetly not the first time that Bloodtalon had asked himself that question tonight and he doubted that it would be the last by a long shot in this whole strange affair. The events of tonight had left him with a deep chill in his bones and he decided that it would be for the best if he went immediately back to his room, lest the 'boy' decided that he really didn't want the diantar to live through the night and set to ambushing him in the dark.

Moving in a daze throughout the inn, Bloodtalon's mind felt cottony and incapable of maintaining a single straight thought, a mixture of bewilderment and still being dead tired from his travels. As he entered his room, he closed his door and locked it, still functioning practically on auto-pilot. It wasn't until the latch caught and clicked that the dracon snapped out of his near-dream state. He said that I know his name. But that couldn't possibly be Thraxton....could it? And if it's not him, then who in the name of Jourel was that?

With his mind working furiously, Bloodtalon climbed back into bed, sitting up with his back against the headboard. He thought that it would take forever for his shattered nerves and fevered mind to calm down to the point of sleep, but it seemed that Dianna saw fit to grant the dracon a small reprieve and at some point in the disturbed night, Bloodtalon fell back asleep.

OOC 2 : It's been awhile. At the risk of sounding redundant, sorry if the post sucks. I'm a little out of practice.

OOC: I did meet a tragic ninja related end, but was ressurected into pure light and energy.

IC: Bloodtalon awoke from his disturbing night suprisingly refreshed and relaxed. Was it all just a dream... or more-so, a nightmare? Running his hands over his face, the Diantar sat on the edge of his unmade bed while running himself through the scenario he had experienced last night. The radiance of the sun washed over his scaley face forcing himself to unconsciously wander to the window for some fresh air. The room's window faced eastwards onto that same courtyard which Bloodtalon could swear he was standing in just hours ago.

There was a constant shuffling of leaved fighting for position amoungst the trees... Leaves on the trees! It had to ave been a dream! Bloodtalon thought to himself with a smile that secured his sanity. He gruffed a small snicker to himself knowing that dead trees could not produce such beautiful green leaves over night. After a moment of gazing around at the Great Sea, the dragon-like-beast looked upon the ground... the muddy ground... the muddy ground with... footprints? straining his eyes to see better from the height of his window, Bloodtalon instantly threw his eyes to his feet... his muddy feet! Running towards his bed, the diantar ripped apart his already messy bed and found mud and grass near the footboard.

Bloodtalon drew himself backwards with his hands wrapped around his scalp. This wasn't happening to him, it couldn't have been happening, it had to have been a dream!
"...The trees were dead!" he screamed as he backed into a table knocking candle sticks and various objects to the floor creating an ambients of noise.

Moments later there was a mild knock on the door of his room. "Sir?" a firm voice called from the other side. "Sir, is everything alright? What is all that banging around... and why is there muddy footprint leading to your room? Who is in there with you?" Knocking followed the questions followed by the door bursting open from Bloodtalon's side. he grabbed the man by the shoulder's and put his face up his in a panicy manner as he screamed at the top of his lungs.

"THE TREES WERE %@$#ING DEAD!!"

The strong diantar tossed the puny human to the floor with a large thud and ran for the strairs shoving all the curious occupants fo the surrounding rooms against the wall.
"Someone stop him!" The man who was laying on the floor in pain yelled at anyone who could hear him.

Bloodtalon stomped down the stairs and saw the old door which he hoped still had the rusty hinges. On the floor was small piles of golden-red dust. With a disturbing yell, the diantar kicked down the door and shoved his way into the courtyard yelling at the trees.
"You were dead!" He began to tear of the branches of the trees in a fit of rage yelling and swearing at them.

Just them four human men came out of the door and into the courtyard with sickles and swords. They were not the authorites, but obviously the bouncers of the pub that was connected to the INN.
"HEY, Dracon!" They yelled, hoping to stop Bloodtalon from raging. "We will give you something to yell about!" They raised their weapon into the air and appraoched closer to the scaley dracon.

OOC2:Yes bloodtalon did grab his weapons before he left his room

OOC : A bit of a scene, don't you think? I do believe that you enjoy throwing me in these conundrums

IC : While the trees certainly weren't dead this morning, it looked like Bloodtalon could verily well be before long. He certainly hadn't been looking for a fight, regardless of the weapons clutched in his hands. His armor was still sitting back in his room and right now, the diantar wasn't even clad in his robes, just his loin cloth. Grasping his senses back to himself, he realized that he more than likely appeared like a raving lunatic to these softskin bastards, ranting as he was about dead trees while clad in nothing more than his skivvies. While he did have Redeemer inside it's scabbard clutched in his right hand, his left hand was preoccupied with holding his gauntlets. Little more than an afterthought, really, and the dracon now wondered why he had seen fit to grab up his weapons before his raiment.

"Look, I've had a very, very rough night." As the diantar spoke, he attempted to regain his temper, his soft voice sounding with a slight growl in the back of his throat. He turned to face the approaching humans, dropping his gauntlets and fistfuls of twigs before slinging Redeemer across his back. "I apologize for causing a scene, but last night I swear this damned tree was dead. Someone is playing games with my damned head!"

The last words came out a little harsher than Bloodtalon had intended and the fact that he was so rattled over something as minor as foliage perturbed him deeply. Relaxing into a neutral stance, the diantar breathed deeply to collect himself. "I'm not looking for a fight. I just want to get on my way and leave you to your usual business. Things are too damned bizarre for me to stick around here much longer anyways."

Hopefully that would placate the humans, violent apes though they were.

Three of the men looked at the man, who apparently was the leader of the four, to see what he was going to do with this dracon. Bloodtalon did, after all, apologize for causing a scene. The leader of the men took a step forward and swished his sword downwards at the ground then pointed it straight at the Diantar.
"I will hear nothing of it! We have our orders!" He yelled at Bloodtalon who was standing about 15 feet away. "You were assaulting guests at this Inn! Let's get'm boys!"

The three men who stood behind the four look at each other puzzled, not knowing who was going to go first.
"Well?!" The leader spoke up aggressively to edge them on. One of the men stepped forward with a syth raised in the air. He was clearly unsure of his skill with a weapon, but didn't want to look like a coward in front of his comrads. He was about the same hieght as Bloodtalon, but not as toned. He almost looked like the weakling of the bunch.
About half way to the dracon, he dropped his cowardly look and clentched his teeth as he stiffened his grip on the syth. His plan was to charge the dracon with all he had and swing the syth downward onto his opponents head.

Gods damn it! I'm not in the mood for this! The diantar thought angrily, reaching his right hand up for the grip of Redeemer. The ribbon-wrapped handle felt good in his hand and soothed the agitated dracon somewhat. Alright. So they want a fight? They got one.

As the first human drew closer, Bloodtalon drew his bastard sword from it's sheath, delighting in the smoothness of the action. He had never tested the blade in actual combat yet, and the thought of doing battle with it exhilarated him. Still, he did not want to kill these men, lowly gorillas though they were. After all, he had made a scene and these men were merely trying to do their jobs. Hopefully the sight of Redeemer at the ready would be enough to somewhat intimidate his assailants.

As his attacker sprang forward towards him, Bloodtalon formulated a plan. He would watch the set of his attacker's shoulders as he approached to read what the human planned to do. He would then attempt to dodge out of the way of the strike before striking with Redeemer at the handle of the scythe. The dwarven blade should easily be able to sheer through the wooden handle of the weapon which was more suited to farming then combat. After that, he would try to strike his attacker hard under the chin with a palm strike, hopefully spilling him out on the dirt upon his ass.

Through this all, Bloodtalon hoped that he could end this skirmish as quickly as possible without killing anyone. He was a bounty hunter, enforcing the law when the officials could not. He was not a murderer.

Approaching the dracon closer and closer, the wimpy looking man cried out a battle cry that was to hopefully intimidate his opponent. As he was inches away from Bloodtalon, the sythe was forcefully swung downwards... into the ground! Bloodtalon had quickly shifted to the side while swiping the Redeemer upwards, slicing the shaft of the sythe in twine, causing the blade to fling into the grass.
The man who was the attacker tripped over his own feet and landed in the grass as well right beside his blade. With nothing but a broken wooden handle in his hands, he turned over and looked up at Bloodtalon, who had the clear advantage. Blood dripped from the man's nose, running onto his grass stained shirt. He was scared, but had to do something to redeem himself in front of his friends.
The frustrated leader of the four shouted at the downed man. "Get up you imbesille!"
He dropped his broken shaft and tried to get back up, but very slowly. He held out his arm towards Blodotalon, hoping to block andthing the dracon might do while he was recovering from his stance.
