Timestamp: Brightening 1, of Junctior in the Season of Autumn, of Era I of the Celestine Mandate Era X Post Fractum, in the Age of the Darkening, the Mageocracy of Julos the Mad
Ozarch looked up at the stable sign as he walked down the street, estatic that his first day of work had finally came. He walked in and looked around for Starlin, who he was supposed to see on his first day of work. He was wearing his newly bought clothes, and brushed some dirt of in an effort to look clean. He then realized he may have to wait a bit, so he sat down, trying to look at what the other employees were doing. He also thought about the newfound possibilities that come with his new financial, freedom due to his new job. Being content with his life he sat around waiting.
OOC: you told me to come on the first of autumn, so here i am

Ozarch at Leaps and Bounds
OOC: I split your post of from the main stable threads in order to avoid cluttering up any purchases that may go on there. Apologies if I caused any confusion
On the first day of Autumn, Starlin looked around the wide entrance of the stables in search of his new employee. It was early morning, and all in all, a little too early for Ozarch to be expected to be at work, but Starlin wanted to make sure that the everything was ready for him. He glanced around, and caught a glimpse of blonde hair over by one of the horse stalls. Evie looked up, and tucked a loose strand of it behind her ear before giving her father a nod, then going back to the horse she was attending to. Starlin would most likely let Evie teach Ozarch about the horse breeds, since she had such a gift with the animals.
A few stablehands were already out and about seeing to the steeds the stable house, but since Ozarch was to be more of a sales clark, it wasn't necessary for him to arrive at work until later on in the morning, when the first customers would start to arrive.
Nevertheless, Starlin planted himself just beyond the wide double doors of the huge barn, where he got a good look of the entrance, and kept an eye out for the young man he had hired a few days before. Therefore, when Ozarch did arrive, he didn't have to waste any time sitting and waiting or looking around for his employer, as he was standing right there at the entrance, waiting to greet him.
"Ah, Ozarch! A fine morning, eh? Ready to start learnin' about the trade?"

OOC: Yes, i believe that was a smart decision.
Ozarch walked up to the stable and was surprised to see Starlin standing right there. He said ," Yes a fine morning indeed, serale to you, and yes i am ready to start work." He then commenced to stick out his hand as if for a shake and then looked at Stalin right in the eye, trying to make for a good impression.
OOC2: sry for the short post but i couldn't think of anything else to write

OOC: No problem
Starlin took the proffered hand in a heart fashion and gave it a good shake before letting Ozarch had the appendage back. He grinned at the man's obvious enthusiasm to learn about the job, glad that he had hired a keen worker to train as a salesman for the stables. Looking around at the almost vast barn which held the business, he then turned back to Ozarch and nodded.
"Well then, as I said before, you'll need to learn about the different breeds of horses so you can get the right horse for the right person. The other thing you'll need to learn is what all the equipment listed on the price board..." He paused for a moment to gesture towards a big blackboard that had been affixed to the wall nearby, that listed the prices of all the horses and riding equipment that the stables had to offer "...so that you know what people are asking for. Can't have a sales clerk who doesn't know what he's talking about, aye? However, you can choose what to learn first. I reckon we'll do horses in one brightening, and equipment and basic salesmanship in another. That means your training'll cover two days. But you can choose which you want to learn first. Do you want to learn about the horses today, or the equipment?"

Ozarch was glad to see Starlin shake his hand so, um enthousiastically. In fact, he almost had to shake it loose agian after he got it back. He then proceeded to litsen to all of Starlin's remarks. He took special care when noticing the price board, he wanted to make sure he knew where that was as he would have to study that later.
He then stood back, thought, and said, "I believe I would like to learn basic salesmanship and about the equipment today. If it is easier for you to teach me about horses, however, we can do that." He added the last remark as sort of insurance of making a good impression.
OOC: i know it has nothing to do with this, but we have some planning to do about the festival so, should we talk about it in the co-ord thread?

OOC: I've made a seperate co-ordination thread specifically for the festival, so that's the place to go to discuss it
IC: Starlin nodded at the choice that Ozarch had made. He was really, open to either option. However, knowledge about horses would be taught to the new employee by his daughter, rather than himself, and he was pleased that he would get a chance to converse a little with Ozarch before handing him over to Evie. He gestured towards the back of the stables, and likely, to the storerooms, so he could show Ozarch all the equipment that was on sale.
"No problem, no problem at all! We'll start off with the equipment. Naturally, we store it in the rooms located at the back of the barn, an' that were we'll be headed for now. Not much point teachin' it all to you if you can't see what the things are, aye?"
Waiting for Ozarch to agree and confirm he was ready to head into the depths of the establishment, Starlin then led the man through the huge stables and beyond. As they walked, it was easy to spot all the varying types of horses that looked over their stalls inquiringly at the passers-by. Not all the stalls contained horses though, presumably because their occupants had recently been sold and Starlin was waiting for more stock to arrive. Amidst the horses ran the gaggle of stablehands, the youngest of which looked about fourteen, though exceedingly good at his job.
Finally, the pair reached the back of the barn, in which several doors stood leading to storage areas and other places that the staff used for varying things. Starlin led Ozarch towards one of the biggest ones, and because it had no windows, spent a few moments lighting the lanterns that dotted the room so the two could see what was going on. As the light filtered in and cast out the darkenss it revealed many crates full of things, and saddles piled up in heaps ready to be sold. The room was full of merchandise, apart from the centre of the floor, and a oblong table that had been erected along one side. Starlin hauled a smallish looking saddle up on to it, before giving Ozarch a grin.
"Now then lad, can ya tell me what one of them is?"

Ozarch was glad to start his training with the equipment. He followed Starlin through the mess of hallways and doors. He noticed many stable hands and he said to himself, "I really must learn their names later on." He then noticed one that looked only fourteen and he was astonished. "Finally another youngster," he said. He was surprised when they reached the barn for it was dark due to its lack of windows.
He watched as Starlin started lighting lanters, and then the room became bright. He was curious as Starlin dragged the saddle onto the table and he was quick to reply, "That is a umm," he took another look to make sure, "saddle, yes a saddle of mediumish size i would say." Satisfied with his answer he looked back at Starlin waiting for a chance to ask about the festival he had recently joined the committe of.

Starlin grinned, and gave Ozarch an enthusiastic nod when he correctly guessed that the piece of displayed equipment was a saddle. It had been a simple enough question, but the stable owner had been surprised in the past by people not knowing what the simplest piece of riding equipment was, at least by name.
Aye, that's right lad. Ain't a difficult question, but some folk still don't seem to know that. You guessed right on the size, too." He paused and gestured to two piles of saddles in the corner of the room, one pile smaller than the one on the table, and the other larger. "Naturally, the size of saddle someone wants depends on both the size of the rider and the size of the horse. You'll get to know the sizes better when you see the horses, but you'll most like need to advise people on what to buy sometimes. Dwarfs and such will probably need no more than a medium saddle, if that. Elves, medium too. Anyone buying a warhorse specifically will usually need a large saddle."
Starlin nodded again, this time to dismiss the subject of saddles and move on to the next piece of equipment. After rummaging around in a crate briefly, he brought out a slightly odd looking leather contraption, that consisted of several straps of the material, and looked a little like a muzzle without the, well, muzzle part. Attached to one end of was a bar of metal, fastened with hooks to the leather, so it could be detached if needed, possibly for cleaning and such.
"Now, Ozarch, if you know what this is you've either been around horses a bit or you've made a guess." He laughed, showing he was just making a joke and didn't really mind how Ozarch came to his conclusion. "Any ideas?"

Ozarch watched as Starlin congratulated him, then commenced to rummage through some more equipment. He then tried to make a mental note of the sizes, kicking himself for not bringing something to write with. At the next piece of equipment, he frowned. He remembered seing one but didn't remember its name.
"Hmm," he thought "that should go around the horses neck, maybe into its face?" He then commenced to speak, "I believe its a sort of harness, the metal part possibly hooking onto his neck or mouth or something, but the whole thing hanging over the head." He then realized that he had just babbled, but he was content.
OOC: is it allright that i use my rl knowledge, cuz i know what that is but i made my charecter a little unsure just so hes not likea genius

OOC: That's fine
IC: Starlin scratched his sandpapery sounding chin as Ozarch tried to explain away the device in his hand, then nodded after a slightly hesistant moment. Whilst replying to Ozarch interpretation of the equipment, the stable owner actually handed it to the employee, so he could get a better look at it and get a more in depth feel of it's simple workings.
"Aye, you're right there lad, you jus' need to know the technical terms for it. The harness itself, as you guess, goes over the horses head, and is called a bridle. The metal part is, as you guessed, fits into the horses mouth, in a gap between his teeth."
Glancing out the door of the room to determine the status of the stables in terms of business and activity, he then added.
"So lad, got any question so far? If you like we can go out and I can show yer how to saddle up a horse and apply a bridle before moving on to the rest of the tack."
