The Aedile's Office
Though probably one of the busiest government buildings in Abestat, the Aedile's office actually only consisted of a small, stone-built building in the middle of the Domicilium, that held no more that four rooms, and some of them quite small, at that. The main reception room was the place that any new customers immediately walked into, accompanied by a small 'ting!' of the bell attached to the door, in order to let the occupant of the room know that a customer had arrived.
The one large window of the room had been covered with white curtains, which were mostly open, though sometimes closed for privacy, or, of course, after the suns went down. In the corner of the room stood two cushioned chairs, in a gorgeous emerald colour that really sets of the polished hardwood floor of the office. On the left side of the room, right next to the entrance, stood a big, green and lush looking plant with large oval leaves, that left a pleasent scent in the office air. Two other doors were visible in the room, one at the very back, pushed slightly ajar to reveal another, more lavishly furnished office. The other, on the right of the room, remained closed. In the centre of the office stood a small but servicable desk, which had a light covering of various different pieces of parchment, typical office paperwork.
Behind the desk sat a pale-haired, pale-skinned elven woman, her hands occupied by a quill, though her attention had been brought away from her work as the door bell had tinkled. Her eyes were a gentle grey colour, and she didn't look old, but it was always hard to tell with elves. She wore a flowing mauve dress that fell almost to the floor, her flat-shoed toes just peeking out from under it, under the desktop. She smiled politely to acknowledge the newcomer to the office.
"Serale. I'm Janice, the Aedile. Can I help you with something?"

OOC: I figured I'd better talk to the Aedile regarding the Festival.
Ioannolia of Cycle 1 of Junctior, Autumn of Era X in the Age of the Darkening
IC: Xanta entered the Aedile's office and took a quick once-over of the room he had walked into. He smiled as he approached the female who had greeted him.
"Serale, Janice," he said warmly. "I'm here about a proposition for the city of Abestat. Over the last few cycles, as I'm sure you're aware, there seems to me to have been a decrease in the excitement level of the overall population here. I'd like to propose a festival for the Spring. Abestat could use the tourism, and to be honest, some fun. Before I go into further detail, what does the esteemed Aedile have to say?"

Junctior, Brighting 4, 1st cycle in the Season of Autumn, of Era I of the Celestine Mandate Post Fractum in the Age of the Darkening, the Mageocracy of Julos the Mad
Yarrow took a look around the small office and smiled. It was small all right! White curtains, a plant here and...
"Serale. I'm Janice, the Aedile. Can I help you with something?" Janice looked young, but it was hard to say. She had pale-hair and was pale in complection. She had a quill in her hand. It was obvious she had been working before Yarrow had interrupted her. Janice had gentle grey eye that were simply lovely and she wore a flowing mauve dress. Her smile was fitting.
Serale Janice. I am Staff Sergeant Yarrow Woodruff. I am here to require about a house. She had spent about a pattern in two different rooms so far. Yarrow only wanted to have a place to go where she wasn't just a sergeant in the Abestat army. She wanted a place to call home where no one else could call home! When she had first arrived in Abestat, Yarrow had very little crowns. She now had enough to buy a house in Abestat and fix it up...

Xanta
Janice gave Xanta a welcoming smile as he stepped into the office, and a nod when he introduced himself. The half-esh'lahier Aedile was used to dealing with the public, people from all walks of live, and had a very friendly disposition to start with, anyway. She currently had a quill pen in her fingers, and was catching up on paperwork, but a the Theyri put his proposal to her she released it was no usual request for housing or employment, and she put the pen back in its stand, to offer the man her full attention.
Serale, Xanta. I have to say your right about the tourism aspect. We seem to have a lack of both tourists and merchants these days. I put it down to the recent... troubles the city has had." Doubtless, Janice was refering to both the Vysstichi and Saurid attacks that had taken place on the city in recent Eras. Coupled with the Orcish raid that took place in history not so long ago, it was no wonder that people were a little hesitant about visiting the city. "I have to say that a festival would certainly help in getting the... gloominess out of the populace that as you said, seems to have cropped up lately."
Deliberating the propostions, she waved a hand to the chair in front of her desk inviting Xanta to sit down in it and make himself more comfortable, since the stay may or may not be a short one. Even from her previous comment though, it was fairly clear that Janice was in favour of the festival, but plans would have to be made, in any case.
"Well, I have to say I'm certainly intrigued, and I think it could work well, as long as the whole thing is planned out properly. I'd like to hear your plans and thoughts in further detail, if you please."
Yarrow
Janice smiled at the Sergeant as she walked in the room, and upon hearing that the woman was there to inquire about purchasing a house, she gestured to the chair on the opposite side of the desk, inviting Yarrow to sit down and talk about her inquiries. Janice was a very particular sort of Aedile, and didn't like selling anyone any old house. It had to be the right property for them, personally.
"Welcome, Yarrow. I can certainly help you with that! Did you have anything particular in mind? In size, or location? Did you have a minimum or maximum amount of money you are willing to spend on it?"

Xanta's blue-black lips slowly spread into a smile as the woman spoke. He had hoped that she would endorse his idea, and she certainly seemed interested. Xanta let Janice take a seat first out of courtesy, then seated himself unceremoniously down in the chair across her desk.
"Well, right now I have only vague plans, as I obviously needed consent of the city first. I see it as being a large festival where games and contests will be had, as well as stalls for merchants and tradesmen of all sorts to sell their wares. I think games for people of all ages would be appropriate, horse rides for the young and eating contests for the youth, and sports for the adults," Xanta paused to take a breath.
"With the consent of the city I had planned to form an advisory comittee of myself and a few others to set forth the plans." Xanta stopped talking to let Janice get a work in edgewise.

Autumn of Era X in the Age of the Darkening
Tantic’s wagpm had fumbled around the city as he had driven, several times, in a complete circle. It had taken him cycles to get the roads of Prime down pat and he knew it would be same here evem though the city was much smaller. After having asked directions he had finally made his way to his destination: the Aediles office. He parked his cart out front, and made sure the canvas did not reveal his possessions within. There was no need to temp a would be thief.
The weaponsmith opened the door of the office and immediately looked up as a small bell announced his presence. That’s a good idea. He thought to himself as visions of a bell in a would be forge of his own came to mind. He pulled back the hood of his black cloak then and revealed his face. He ran his hands through his shoulder length blond hair to pull it out from beneath the cloak and then drew the rest of the cloak back. He wore beneath the cloak a pair of leather black pants that were tucked into muddy brown leather boots. At his waist, a dagger and gladius were both sheathed on his thick black leather belt. A black leather short sleeved tunic was tucked into his pants. One could see the collar of a blue cloth tunic he wore underneath through the draw strings about the neck of the leather tunic. The blue sleeves of the long sleeved cloth tunic also came out from beneath the short black ones of the leather tunic and came to crisp cuffs about his wrists.
When Janice spoke he turned and smiled revealing neat mother of pearl colored teeth. “Serale Janice, I am Tantic and indeed you can. I’m new to town, in fact,” He chuckled. “I’ve been here just shy of a candlemark but I have brought all my possessions so a room at an inn simply will not do. Can I dare to hope that I can purchase a home and move in today?” His voice was some where between tenor and bass but not quiet both. It also wasn’t melodic or rough per say but was smooth with low tones that hinted at the potential for a singing voice. Tantic placed his finger tips on the desk and drummed them lightly. They were thick fingers with short dirty nails attached to tough thick hands. These were not the hands of a noble man or a man of luxury. No, Tantic was most happy when he was pounding metal in to great pieces of weaponry.

Yarrow took a seat in the offered chair and thought about the questions put before her. The money part is easy...I make a nice salary and so I can afford a decent house. If she didn't have enough crowns on her she would be able to go withdraw some from her bank, if needed.
As for the size...it needs to have at least four rooms...two bed rooms would be nice...a kitchen...and a living room, but if there are more rooms that would be great. Yarrow took another breath and another moment to think on location, after all location was the best part about a house.
The location...I don't know about for sure. I don't want anything where a lot of people come by...maybe with a tree in the front yard for some shade in the hot weather. Yarrow nodded her head. That would have to do.

Xanta
Janice leaned across her desk slightly as Xanta began to explain his plans for the proposed festival, her usually placid elven features lighting up with interest at the idea. She nodded along with Xanta's speech, but didn't interupt and then added her opinions on the matter once the Theyri had fully finished explaining.
"Well, they may be vague plans but they definitely have a lot of potential. And you're right, this is the sort of thing the city needs to pull it out of the slump it's got into lately." Janice gave a small, slightly crafty grin before adding her consent for the festival to take place. "Well, you certainly have my consent... as long as... I get a place on the festival committee! Don't worry, I won't get too involved if you'd prefer to keep it to citizens only, however, I will need to arrange things on a city-based level, whether we need to close streets and canals, and things like that."
Her face went serious again after her moment of lightheartedness, and her lips persed slightly before she added, "However, you will need permission from Commander Lastra too, since he is technically the head of the city right now. However, I'm sure I can ask him myself, if you're busy. He's probably more likely to listen to a city offical in any case."
Yarrow
Janice merely nodded as Yarrow stated she didn't have a particular budget in mind, which made the process more interesting for the Aedile, since she could get Yarrow exactly the kind of house she wanted. Hence she listened very carefully to the Sergeant's ideas on the type of properly she wanted, the half-elven woman's fingers slanted together on the desktop as she took in the information.
"Well, houses in the city with gardens generally cost a little bit more, mainly because they're rarer. Every bit of space seems to be built on these days. But having a small yard shouldn't break the bank. If you just wait a moment, I'll have a look and see if I've got anything available that you might like."
With a smile, Janice gracefully removed herself from her seat and went to one of the two filing cabinets the office contained. Opening one of the drawers, Yarrow could see that the entire thing was just crammed full with parchment, which the Aedile deftly flicked through, selecting pieces of paper when she came to them. A few moments later she sat back in her seat and spread several pieces of parchment - all house deeds - on the desk in front of her. She picked up the nearest piece and studied it in detail.
"Okay, this is a property just outside the Synesi Plateia, which makes it a little more upscale. It has four rooms, as you wanted, and a small garden, though I'm not entirely sure whether it contains a tree or not. One of the rooms has a large fireplace and a kitchen-like arrangement. As far as I'm aware the other three contain basic furniture, but can be used for whatever you want. The house is made of stone, too, so it's nice a secure. I've got some other deeds here, some with more than four rooms if you want to go through those too."

As the house was being described to Yarrow her mouth began to water. A stone house? That would be lovely! She thought to herself. Her fingers moved toward her money pouch without her even realizing it.
"I've got some other deeds here, some with more than four rooms if you want to go through those too." The lady said. Yarrow only half heard this. She bit her lip and thought for a moment.
How much is this house, just out of curiosity? She asked. She relaxed her fingers and made herself relax like it was not a big deal in the least. She had to make herself relax before she jumped up and down like a three-year-old with some candy.

As Mordeneb and Falaria had truly decided to leave Abestat, there was no point in maintaining a residence here. Later, when the pair were a little more financially secure, they might be able to keep up multiple pieces of real estate. For now, though, it was better simply to concentrate their resources.
Mordeneb gave Janice a melancholy smile upon her greeting. "Serale, ma'am," he said. "I'd like to sell this property back to the Aedile's office, if that's possible."
Janice nodded and took the deed back from the elven man. The price he received back was 3000 crowns, the same amount that he had paid for the property when he had purchased it.
And that was it. There was nothing else to say or do here, so with a polite "Thank you," Mordeneb left to go finish his preparations for leaving.

ooc: Since Aesha has sadly left us I am going to simply finish off my post. If anyone has a problem with the price of the house or whatever please just let me know and I will change it.
ic: Janice smiled and nodded her head. The price was the killer part of the house because Yarrow had wanted so much. "It is 5,800 crowns." She replied and watched Yarrow's response.
Yarrow pulled out her purse there and then and counted out the notes. She had enough for such a house and she was glad to part with the money as long as it was for something that she could use.
"Okay then...here is the deed." Janice pulled out the deed and handed it over to Yarrow with a smile. Yarrow thanked her and stood up and left the building with a smile on her face. She was finally getting out of the soldiers wing of Abestat and moving in to a 'classy part of town'.
