But a piece of reminiscence left...?

OOC: GM Aesha please - thanks again for doing this thread for me, by the way. *huggles* But I'm really sorry for the short post...

For the others: This is just a simple shopping thread.

His melancholy mahogony orbs were cast down. His pace was languid, powerless, reluctant... Weak...

Merely contemplating about it had made him rather despondent once more. He understood her situation, of course, and fully respected the decision, but then, he would still be left all alone in Abestat. How could he ever bear that loneliness which he had put him into great despondency when he was nineteen and twenty Patterns old? How could he ever bear that again? It was, quite rightly... The lingering nightmare which haunted him, that elongated span of time which he could not forget. Sometimes, he wondered whether he had spoken at all in those two Patterns. He was all alone then.

But then, it was her choice - and if it made her happier, then so be it. That was all he cared for, really - her happiness. If it meant something needed to be sacrificed from him, then no matter as well. He promised, he would pluck out a star from the high, celestial space above if she requested for it - and he meant it. He knew he did not have such an ability... But he really did mean it.

But if anything else, he did not want her to leave this place empty-handed. Leastways, not without an object of memory...

And thus, striding groggily and gloomily through the Market Square (even the stall-keepers would notice his abnormally glum face), he looked for something that he could buy, if only just to let her remember the face that she had always cherished - his face.

... Maybe something alone the lines of a necklace...

Into the main huddle of the Market Square the Human went, with stalls and moving paddlers circulating about. Some of the citizens striding were just as melancholy as he was; though a whole plethora of other emotions were present as well, some were anxious, others joyful, happy, gloomy, angry - all of the sentient feelings converging in this bustling district. He could hear the general cacophony of this place. With so little concentration left in him, he could hardly make out any of the specific conversations happening at the moment in the space-time continuum.

Soon, even as glum as the brown orbs of his soul's windows were, he did catch the gleam of metal. Initially, he would have thought it the metallic gleam of weapons, but then, his sight caught what he desired - jewellries. Rings, earrings (of which he had no interests in) and necklaces... Necklaces...

He endeavoured his hardest to dispel that gloomy expression he still wore on his face, and much to his relief, he appeared more like one of those normal shoppers roaming about the Market Square. Approaching the Halfing woman with her sparkling sapphire eyes, he managed to give a smile resembling joy in most part, with that slight taint of rue he still felt resonating within his heart. His eyes scanned over the necklaces he desired to buy his one, and only one, beloved.

The shopkeeper gave back a smie. "Serale sir! You'll be pleased with these wondeful necklaces!"

He continued browsing, and browsing... He could not quite afford the more extravagant ones, and gold, diamond, sapphires (as much as he loved them) were out of the question... Or maybe not sapphires.

One particular one laid, captivating all of his attention. A silvery gleam belied its precious value. Two spreaded wings, that of the swan... Or Ancient Allerians... In fact, it was cross between the two, with the vast, bulkier look of a pair of Ancient Allerian's wings, yet the shape and grace of a swan's, it was constructed purely, and only of silver. The texture and shape was very real, and very life-like, and as the Olympian gently rubbed the wings with his thumbs, he was, despite the sad news broken to him not long ago, marginally delighted. Where the two wings met, encased in a thing layer of sliver, was that of an enrapturing sapphire. Deep as clear, pristine sea water, it was cut off into the shape of a eight-pointed star, one which seemed to gleam from the ethereal celestial canvas in the Darkening. Four longer, sharper points pointed to the exact up, down, left and right, whilst the four shorter points pointed to the exact centre of where its two neighbouring pieces of larger sapphire legs pointed. The chain, interlinking perfectly, joined behind the star, and streamed together as if they were chains of soft, silver flame...

And it was beautiful.

He picked up the necklace slowly, feeling its weight in his hands - they were not too heavy, though not too light either. The star in the middle enraptured him, and in its gleam, he saw a faint, bluish reflection of himself in the gem. Maybe... Maybe Keeva would remember him by this necklace?

He felt the chain of flame-shaped chains in the loving rubbing of his thumb. The shopkeeper knew from that instant he loved the necklace, but of course, she could not see that it meant much, much more than merely the love of gems and adornments. Agaenos quite intended for this work of art to have a deeper, more sentimental value, and taking it in his palms, he inquired to the price.

"How much is this?"

The Halfling, with a joyful gleam in her eyes, seemed to have just made a rather great sell. In fact, even with her appetite, she did not have to worry about her Rosyun and Pracenda for a long time to come. She actually did the Olympian Human a tiny favour...

"Well, sir - you seem to like this alot, I must say," she gave a small smile of appreciation, "Originally, I sell this for a rather large nine-hundred and ninety Crowns. I think, though... You like this a lot, do you not? - then would nine-hundred and thirty sound good?"

Initially, the Corporal stared on, trying to suppress his expression of awe - he never really expected it to be this expensive, even if he knew he would need to blow a massive blow to his own personal wealth. No... Nine-hundred and thirty was still too much. He needed to haggle the price lower with the Halfling.

"Eight-hundred and eighty? This is great craftsmanship, I would admit... But anything more than nine-hundred seems just a bit too expensive to me, even with jewellries of this quality..." He trailed off softly, trying to convince the woman to lower the price.

She gave a frown of concentration more than one of sadness for a moment, before yielding to the price of, "Alright, nine-hundred... But no less than that."

The Human thought for a moment. This piece was not only beautiful, but sentimental... He promised Keeva he would pluck out a star from the heights of the sky above, and he did mean it - so what did nine-hundred Crowns mean in comparison to that promise?

"Alright... Nine-hundred then." He smiled.

From one of his pockets, he carefully took out a sizable stack of paper Crown-notes, counting to a total of nine-hundred Crowns - an amount which he looked on as if to mentally say Serale - before handing it to the Halfing woman, who wore a smile seemingly more radiant than that celestial lamp above him, before handing him the necklace in return. Both were satisfied.

Keeping it safely within his clutch, and in one of the pockets, he left the market place... But it would have to be left until slightly later before he would give it to his sweet-heart...
