Aravan's new Home (Open to all)

(Evening Ioannolia 2nd Optia Spring of Era X)

As Aravan approched the address written on the deed to a 3 room hovel located here in Abestat he thought to himself Why would someone leave this place to me of all people? As he approched the door the boards of the porch creaked under his weight. He slipped the key that came with the deed in the lock and turned it. The key didn't turn easily due to the rust but Aravan got the door to unlock, pushing the door open only dust and darkness greeted him. As Aravan put him meager belongings on the floor just behind the door which he had left open for the light, he slowly made his way to the closest window and opened it to allow more light to enter the quiet hovel...

After opening all the windows he could find Aravan took a look around his new home and thought to himself Well I guess this is it. A few chairs that look as if they will fall apart, a bed that looks like it has seen better days, a small table and alot of dust.

In the light he had left there wasn't much Aravan could do. Because he knew the sun would be setting soon and working in the dark wasn't something that he really wanted to do, eventho his eyesight was very good at night it still didn't mean he wanted to navagate this new house in the middle on the night. So he thought tomorrow wasn't going anywhere and he'd start then and just let the house air out and in turn get some air himself.

Once out on the porch Aravan took a seat on the steps and took a deep breath of the sweet air of spring. He let the smells of the city permiate him and evelop him. As he looked around he took in all the sights and the people around him.

Yarrow was just walking by....like always. She was just walking by and there was a fellow she had never seen before, sitting on a porch. She wondered if he was here visiting or if he lived here...Why haven't I seen him before? Maybe he is new in town? She shrugged off her thoughts and made for a new destination, the fellows home.

Serale there! I am Sergeant Yarrow Woodruff, stranger. Are you new to these parts? She paused with a friendly nod... After all...if he didn't know her there was no telling what he might think. Some people thought that a person in the military was "scary" or at least brutal. Yarrow was only these when she had to be and those traits only came up when she was facing an "enemy" or in a war...or that sort of thing.

Aravan saw the person approaching him and went tense he thought "Why is this person coming up to me? " He slowly relaxed as the person came close and noticed the walk of someone who had very good training. "Well " he thought "By the cut of the cloth and the walk and stance i would have to guess this person is either very rice and well trained or part of the Milita. His assumption was only partly right when the person introduced themselves.

"Serale Sergeant Yarrow Woodruff yes I am new to these parts how observant of you. Allow me to introduce myself My name is Aravan."

Aravan was surprised to meet someone new and it wasn't unwelcome.

Yarrow smiled happily. A new person... It was time to meet a new person once again. She was happy to do so. It wasn't only her duties that seemed to bring her on this route. She enjoyed meeting new people and helping out in any way she could. Abestat was also a little confusing of late...it was just the way it was...but hopefully that wouldn't last very much longer.

Serale! It is a pleasure to meet you. Where are ya from...if you don't mind me asking? She tried to pick a topic that was different then "the weather is lovely, is it not?" That always ended very quickly and then there would be a pause...not sure what would happen next... She wanted to avoid all that if possible.

IC: It is a pleasure to meet you as well m'lady....to answer your question as best I can...I'm from around but just recently moved here. Can I offer you a seat or do your duties not permit that? Aravan thought to himself At least she didn't use the old " the weather is lovely" starter as he gave the officer a pleasant smile.

Aravan wa a little rusty at meeting new people so he could only do his best with what he remembered from the past. One thing that had been on aravan's mind was that he couldn't survive on what little he had.

Miss Yarrow may I ask you a question? Assuming the answer would be yes he continued. I was wondering if you knew of any job openings in the city for someone who didn't mind hard work?

Aravan was hoping she might know of something because he had just moved to this new place and didn't know overly much about the area and Yarrow looked like she might know somethings that not too many people knew.

Yarrow smiled, but declined the offer for sitting. She could sit, but she wasn't in the mood for it, to be honest.

I was wondering if you knew of any job openings in the city for someone who didn't mind hard work? Yarrow nodded her head, knowing just the place to send him. She had been here for a pattern. She knew the ways around here by now.

You can try the Abestat Chamber of Commerce...they know all the places that are opening up or who needs people. You could also join the military if you want that kind of life. Either way...it's a job that probably pays well.

Aravan nodded to Yarrow's decline of the offer to sit. He could see that she wasn't in the mood but part of his nature is to be polite whenever possible.

"Thanks for the help with possibly finding a job m'lady" and made a small bob of the head.

"I have a question if you don't mind answering it?" Aravan for a few seconds before starting with his question "How do you like the Military, do you see much action or is it standard patrols around the city?" he realized when he was finished with the question that it was actually more the one but shugged it off.

Charolette, after just visiting the market square, had dropped her contents that she had bought at her home, and decided to take a birsk walk around the neighborhood, for health reasons. She knocked on the door of the home, eager to meet a new neighbor.

Aravan had just finished emptying his bath when he heard a knock at the door, he was a little startled that someone was be knocking at his door this early.

He quickly put his pants on and went to the door cautiously and quietly. As he approached the door his body tensed and went on edge he opened the door. Too his surprise the was a fairly attractive woman standing just outside his door.

"Serale m'lady how can I help you?" he asked.

With the cool air of the morning he realised he had forgotten his shirt and quickly grabbed one off the hook by the door. He hoped he did look as embarrassed as he felt.

When I first got here there was very little action, sir...no that isn't the truth. Yarrow paused. Deep lines moved onto her brow as she thought. I've been through a lot of scruffs even then. Yarrow suddenly laughed as she remembered how young and foolish she had seemed then. [

I've survived a war and an uprising...quarantine and some nasty patrols with nasty gnomes getting into a great big mess. I've seen many things in the military...many things. It isn't a cup of tea, really. You have a lot to do...especailly now a days.[/color] Yarrow sighed and shook her head, the smile already leaving her face. It had been a rough pattern that could have been five patterns for all she knew.

"Well m'lady it seem that you have peaked my curiosity for the military." as Aravan thought to himself "this could be what I was looking for"

"Well i do think that I will take your advise and check out the military at least. I do hope that they have a position for me there" Aravan said with a smile hoping to lighten up the mood he stood and suggested "Well i think i've sat here for long enough, my legs are getting a little stiff. How about we walk and talk of lighter things. Maybe you could show me around a little?"

I'm sure they will have a position for you. We certainly need all the soldiers we can get. Perhaps you will even be in my squad. We shall see. Yarrow told him. They always had trouble keeping military personnel, for some reason. Keeva and herself had been here for a lot longer then most.

"Well i think i've sat here for long enough, my legs are getting a little stiff. How about we walk and talk of lighter things. Maybe you could show me around a little?" Oh...I wish I could, but I can not do that at the moment. I have a lot to do at this point right now. However if you go... She began giving him directions to the Sergeant's Office. That was where he would be able to get a position in the military.

Aravan was a little disappointed that Yarrow had other thing to do but shrugged it off a moment later. He understood that she was in the military and they had duties that had to be performed.

Aravan listened as Yarrow gave him instructions on how to get to the sargent's office and decided that he would go and apply.
"Thank you for the instructions m'lady...who know maybe i will be sent to your command?" Aravan said with a slight smile.

He looked up at the sky and it was getting darker....thanks to his heritage he could see very well in the dark being a half elf and all.

He returned his gaze to Yarrow and said "well since it appears to be getting late i had best go back inside and prepare for the night." and with that he swept Yarrow a mock bow to see if he couldn't get a laugh out of her.

Yarrow laughed at his mock bow and did the same a moment later. Until we met again, then. She then walked away. She noted the sky getting dark and she wrinkled up her nose. She was starting to feel the days strain. It was times like this when she felt all her weapons holding her down. She headed toward the military district and was soon out of sight.
