Atticus's night walk (Open to all)

[Atticus Miller]

TimeStamp: Night, 6th of Optia, Spring of Era X

It was late at night and Atticus was walking through the neighborhood streets of Abestat. He always took an evening walk, but latetly, it didn't seem to be helping him too much. He was defiently much heavier than when he first came to Abestat, and was getting rather fat. But still very muscular and tall, Atticus was what most women considered cute, and what most men considered, "a real man." Either way, Atticus wasn't too bugged about his gain.

As he passed the houses he was beginnig to wish he had his horse. Enough was enough sometimes, and tonights walk was getting to be too long for Atticus, althought it was the same walk he took every night. Alright. Shorter, fewer walks. he said to himself. There was no need for him to take a walk every night. He resolved that he might take a walk once a week, if that. His knees were killing him, so he sat down.

[Mordeneb Ashcliff]

It was late, and Mordeneb was tired. So, so, very tired. But he hadn't been able to sleep, and had been so restless that Falaria had come out of her bedroom to see what the matter was. She had been the one who had suggested that Mordeneb take a walk.

He had agreed with a wry smile. It was uncanny, the way she always seemed to know what he most needed. She had always been like that, even back home on the farm so many brightenings ago. The walk indeed seemed to be doing him some good, and, although he was afraid of how tired he would be at work in the morning, he was happy enough, and the spring air smelled so good...

As he walked by, he saw a man sitting down by the side of the road. He hadn't been expecting to see anyone else at this time, so it was with some surprise (though carefully concealed) that he said, "Serale, sir. Good evening."

Atticus smiled at the elf.

"Why, Serale." Atticus struggled to his feet, but decided to sit back down again. It was harder for him to get up, and if the man was really interested in a conversation, he could sit down as well.

Atticus looked into the man for a moment. He did this, he went through the outer expressions and into the real being. The man, seemed not really to be a man, more an elf.

Atticus decided it was rude for him to sit down, so he struggled to his feet and stood up.

"Private Miller, actually, well, Atticus Miller. I'm off duty." Smiling, Atticus stuck out a meaty hand to greet the fellow. "Good evening to you as well. Who might you be? I'm new to Abestat really, in the scheme of things. Only been here for 5, 6 cycles. Not much in reality. Hope you'll excuse my ignorance." Atticus laughed a little to himself and flashed a chubby smile.

[Mordeneb Ashcliff]

"Mordeneb Ashcliff," the elf said, shaking Atticus's hand. "A pleasure to make your acquaintance."

He was about to say more, but realized that he was feeling very cold. That was usually a sign that he was tired. His walk seemed to have served its purpose, and he should probably get back home to Falaria, especially since he had to go to work the next morning.

"I hope you'll excuse my lack of manners, but I must be hurrying home. Enjoy the evening," Mordeneb said with a smile, as he turned around and vanished into the night.
