The New Neighbor
Lauria entered the old house and nearly choked on the dust. Her grandmother's old house hadn't seen sunlight in ages. Not since her grandmother died, anyway. Her grandmother was very concerned about privacy- she kept the shutters tightly closed so that nobody could see in. And she ended up dying for lack of sunlight. That happens sometimes.
The living room was simple enough- a tattered yellow couch and a wooden table. Furniture that Lauria just barely remembered. The kitchen was bare except for a small table with three chairs at it. The blue marble floor that Lauria's grandfather had put in was chipped and faded, but she could still she the tints of blue in it. In the back of the small house was a tiny bedroom, big enough only for a shaggy, light pink bed and a tree bark closet.
Lauria sighed. Her grandmother's house had been left to her family after the death, but nobody had wanted it. Lauria had only taken it because she had nowhere else to go. Her years of travel had tired her, and she wasn't even really that old. Resigned from journeys, there wasn't much else for her to do in the present but try to find a way to make a living

ooc: Sorry....I forgot to mention in between Domi's cries that you also need to put a time stamp on this one as well! You don't have to change it now...I'll write it in...uh-oh...think my mom's home...ahhh! This might be very quick!
ic: Time Stamp: Era I of Optia. Brightening 1 of the First Cycle
Yarrow was walking down the street when she noticed that the "closed house" was now opened. It wasn't as dead as she had thought it would be at one point. Maybe it had someone living in it after all! Yarrow decided to go take a look and see. She walked over to the door and gave a quick knock.

OOC- Oh, thank you for telling me! Domi's currently being very quiet, luckily. But I'll take your advice.
IC- Time Stamp- Era I of Optia. Brightening 1 of the First Cycle
Lauria turned to see a familiar face poking through her front door. Immediately her mood lifted.
" Yarrow!" she cried, rushing forward. She hadn't seen her old friend in such a long time- not for at least twenty cities ago. And running to someone familiar was very comforting in an unfamiliar situation. " I hoped you would be here! How have you been?"

OOC: Welcome to Abestat, Lauria
Krono was walking home from school when he saw Yarrow in the distance. He was sure that it was her and wondered why she was already off duty. He decided to give her a greeting before he headed home to Lyria's house.
He walked up and called out. "Serale, Missus Yarrow. How do you do on this brightening." The boy nodded his head. The boy looked up at the door she was standing in front of and noticed that it was a new house in the neighborhood. At least it was new to the little one, since he never noticed it being inhabited before.
"Ahhh, Missus Yarrow...are you visiting a friend?" Still he turned his little head and stared at the outsides of the house. It proved to be run down and needed some fixing. The boy was glad to offer any help to the occupant.

OOC- Thank you, Krono Gail! (Yarrow, do I still have to time stamp this? Oh well, I just will.)
A second head appeared behind Yarrow's, a face that Lauria didn't recognize. But being relatively new to the area, she was up for meeting new people.
" I don't believe I've met your friend." she introduced herself. " Hello, I'm Lauria."

OOC: *pounces in the thread* It's both Krono and Yarrie! I'm sure there'll be more humourous stuff going.
Welcome to the wonderful world that is Alleria, Lauria! I'm sure Yarrow had already explained some basic thing about the game. If you have any questions, though, feel free to ask me as well. Especially the timestamps - they are harder than astro-physics for a lot of people.
And as everyone could tell you, the girls of Abestat are one whacky bunch.
IC:
Timestamp:
Brightening, Solaria, 1st of Optia,
Winter-Spring Juncture (Spring), Telath is in the Age of Darkening,
Era I of the Celestine Mandate,
Era III in the Tyrannical Mageocracy of Julos the Mad,
Ten Eras Post-Fractum.
Paradigm: The Prateia. Descension of the Sky-Isle of Ikerael, and occupation of Ancient Allerians in Alleria Prime.
"Well, even though I might risk being teased again, I am sure visiting residents will do the Military, and me, some good..."
Strolling about in the now-familiar Dan's Domicilium district of Abestat, he thought inwardly to himself as the a pair of seeking brown orbs non-chalantly scanned about the numerous houses which lined this particular street. The warmth of Spring became more evident, though remnants of Winter still blew onto his face, a slightly chilled yet comforting wind carassing his features. Soft, curled hair, brown for most part yet with the odd sprinkle of chestnut shades, weaved a gentle dance in harmony with the gentle zephyr which blew.
He was a Corporal of the military, and, just like his friend and Staff Sergeant, had a small inclination to visiting residents whenever he could, providing assistence and a friendly face, negating remarks from people that the Military were just a bunch of mindless killing golems. Well - of course, that was part of their jobs, to be killing golems, bar the mindless part - though he preferred to show the more compassionate side of him.
Compassionate - in fact, even affectionate - he was to his new-found star-crossed. Who would have ever guessed that fateful Darkening in Castle White Dove, when everything went wrong, one scintillating feeling rose above all, as fate had given him the one girl, or young woman - actually ranked higher than him - of his life?
Snapping out of the thoughts, he saw Krono upon a somewhat run-down house. What was he doing here?
"Krono!" He waved towards the half-Elven boy, and smiled. "Serale! Are you lost from Lyria or Celeste's house...?"
Hang on - he seemed to be talking to someone...

Krono slowly turned his head as the door opened. His blue sparkling eyes widen in shock. Missus Celeste? What is she doing here...no...wait...that’s not Missus Celeste. The boy obviously confused himself with another resident of Abestat. The resemblance was quite striking, so anyone could have made that mistake.
The boy offered a bright smile. "Serale, Missus Lauria. My name is Krono Gail. It is nice to meet you." The boy bowed. "Ahhh...are you Missus Yarrow's friend?"
Suddenly his elven hears heard his name being called. He turned around only to meet Agaenos's gaze. He smiled at the Corporal and ran to him. "Serale, Mr. Agaenos! Long time no see. How are you?" Of course the little half elven boy had to look up quite high to see him completely, since the man towered over him a few feet.
The boy chuckled. "No, Krono is not lost. Krono saw Missus Yarrow in front of this house, so Krono wanted to say serale. But if Krono is lost, I am pretty sure that Missus Lyria and Missus Celeste will be sending out a search team to find me."
The little half-elven boy pulled the Corporal to the new neighbor. "Missus Lauria, meet Mr. Agaenos. He is a military man in Abestat. And Mr. Agaenos, meet Missus Lauria." He smiled at them both to see how they would interact.

Lauria was surprised at how friendly people seemed to be. Those she had met elsewhere weren't always so warm, and she hoped she remembered how to be friendly in return.
" Yes, Yarrow and I are old friends. Are you a friend of Yarrow's as well?" she addressed Krono Gail. Then she smiled in turn at the second passerby. " Serale, Mr. Agaenos." she greeted, hoping she was pronouncing his name the way she had heard Krono Gail say it. " I'm Lauria, I'm new to Abestat."

ooc: Here is the chamber! Keeva (another friend) wants you to join us in the military because we don't have many girls...but the choice is yours.
ic: Yarrow smiled on seeing her old friend. They were old friends indeed. They had grown up together. It was a big surprise to see her here, however. She was about to say this when suddenly a little boy's voice made its self known. It was Krono. Serale Krono...yes...this is my good friend Lauria. We haven't seen each other in a few patterns...t'is a surprise to see you here. She was glad to see her here, however and even gladder when she heard another voice that she recognized...
Agaenos Phidion... He was a man of interest. Sometimes she felt that she much older then he, however...even though it was the other way around. Krono introduced Agaenos to her friend... It was so good to see her again... She could still remember her hanging out with the family. They had a lot of fun together...when Yarrow's mother wasn't looking. Daisy, Yarrow, Bonsai and Lauria always seemed to be together...until about a pattern or so ago when Yarrow had left home...

OOC: Just wondering if you girls are friends in real life.
Krono nodded his head. "Yes, Missus Yarrow is Krono's friend. She helped me when Krono first came to Abestat. She is a vury nice lady." He turned to Yarrow, flashing a wink.
The little half-elven boy noticed that Yarrow was different from her usual self. She could hardly stop smiling the whole time. Missus Laurie and Missus Yarrow must be best friends, the boy thought. It was nice to see such reunions happening in Abestat.
The boy turned to Laurie. "Missus Laurie, where are you from? Krono never saw you here before." The boy paused. He peered through the open door behind the human female, wondering if she needed any help setting up. "Missus Laurie, Krono can help you clean up the house if you want." Krono smiled reassuringly at her.

ooc: How did you guess????
ic: Thank you Krono. You are very nice yourself. She gave him a similar wink. They had met a little while ago and she had become attached to the lad...almost like a sister brother or a mother son...of course there was two other girls that seemed to have a similar connection with Krono...he was a very well loved boy....
Lauria and I grew up in Taralon together, but where she has been since we parted...I am not sure... Yarrow had left Taralon because of her crazy mother some time ago and had not been in contact with her family since. She had no idea what her family was doing in Taralon or even if they were still alive there. Of course she had run away many times as a younger child. The fifth time she left her mother hadn't believed her when she said that she was going for good. She wondered when she had stopped laughing... Yarrow didn't think she was laughing now...

OOC: Wow, this thread is getting busy, but I can't miss out on a chance to meet so many people . . . besides, seems Yarrow and her friend won't have any private time right now.
Ic:
Atticus saw what looked almost like a small meeting, going on outside a home. He pulled his belt up and started for the crowd. He noticed a familiar face, Yarrow.
"Serale . . . Seargent Yarrow. I'm Private Miller now, isn't it great? Anyways, seems that I havn't meet too many people here, but would like to." Atticus stuck out a meaty hand for anyone to grab. "Atticus, well, Private, Miller." Atticus flashed very chubby smiles at the group. He looked down at his fat, sweaty hand, and wondered which daring soul would be the first to grab it, and introduce themselves.

OOC: Well, I didn't tell him, honest...
IC:
What a little enthusastic boy...
"Serale, Mr. Agaenos! Long time no see. How are you?" Krono asked, his small head craning up in order to peer upon the much taller form of the Corporal. A wide, somewhat comical smile stretched across his lips, as he crossed his arms upon hearing Krono's explanation. Well, as long as there was one familiar person actually guarding or being near him... And he knew he could trust Yarrow, who was becoming almost like his sister. Moreso when she started teasing him...
"Well, I bet it would not only be a search team, Krono - they might very well have me galloping in the streets looking for you." A mischevous glint flashed in his brown eyes, as he was subsequently pulled by the innocent young half-Elven to some place... Some place up ahead, a house, in fact, one that he had not come across before. What was he doing at a stranger's house, anyway? Though, perhaps the prescence of his Staff-Sergeant explained it...
Being pulled by a boy, diminutive of stature compared to him and lagging behind him, the Corporal cut a rather comical figure as he entered Lauria's house, as they were subsequently introduced to each other. Straightening his pose somewhat, trying to look slightly more formal than his previous demeanor, he held out a gloved hand to Lauria, a friendly gesture of welcoming. "Serale, Lauria. You could just call me Agaenos, really. Don't hesitate to ask me - or us - if you get lost on anything." Tilting his head, he retained that friendly smile...
... Before turning to Yarrow, who, giving a wide grin that could only be given to those that he had been very familiar with, greeted her with a wink instead...
The topic of cleaning house came up once more - which inadvertantly forced his mind to travel back to Lyria's house in Winter... And the utterly clumsy and comical crashing of his head against her callous bedroom door then...
He merely eased, contented to allow himself to listen to their conversation - which revealed rather little, except for both of their home cities being Taralon. He wondered how it compared with his home of Olympia, and began to thought about the features that might be in the citadel situated above rocky bluffs, and just how friendly Sherianites were...
For a moment, he was steeped in thought as such that, he didn't really notice the arrival of Atticus...
OOC II: My age-old trick of playing silent... That is, until Yarrie starts teasing me again.

OOC- Yarrow, I know I said I wouldn't, but I'm going to, just for the fun of it- sorry! Can't resist!
IC- Lauria smiled shyly at the crowd in her house. She wasn't used to being around such nice people.
"Nice to meet you, Atticus." she nodded at the man who had just recently entered. " And thank you, Agaenos, for offering help. If I have questions I'll be sure to ask."
Then she turned back to Yarrow. " I'm going to try and find a job around Abestat, if I can. But if that doesn't work out, I'll try to join the military. You would think that after traveling around so much, I would have gained some kind of skill, but I guess I defy that." It really was good to see Yarrow again. Too much time had passed since they had last spoken. Lauria wondered what kinds of things her dear friend had been up to since then.
