Stephanie's House
Stephanie had just moved here to Abestat. She was rather tall, around 5'9-5'10, and had smooth brownish blondish hair, that pulled back in a pony tail. She was working around in her home, moving the simple furniture it had come with.
"The chair . . . it should go here." Thought Stephanie. Her name was Stephanie, but everyone called her Steph for short. Her boyfriend had called her that . . . before he had been killed. Only a few months ago Steph was having the time of her life with a handsome fellow, Mark Dryer. They had been great friends, well, more than friends. But one night he had too much to drink and got in a fight with another drunk man. Mark was too tipsy to win the fight, although he would have if he had not been quite so drunk. Steph sighed at the thought of being alone now. Things were different. Having to actually get a job herself, that would be hard.
"The chair is too heavy!" Steph pushed the chair with all her might, but it wouldn't budge. She slumped down in the chair and was depressed. Things would be different.

Atticus was taking a brief walk through the neighborhood, like he always did. Long, slow, strides. That was his walking style. He came across one home that struck him as interesting. And then it hit him, he heard someone talking inside. But, it was just one voice. He leaned closer to the home's door, and listend.
"The chair is too heavy!" Atticus could have yelped for joy. A woman in distress . . . this was exactly what he had been looking for night! He instantly knocked on the door, waiting for a friendly face to appear.

OOC: I did some reaserch opn your charatcer, and found that you're wanting a girlfriend. Steph can't promise you too much, considering the shock she's going through.
Stephanie got up from the chair and rubbed her eyes. No point in looking unhappy for a guest. She went to the window and her heart raced. A man. A tall man. Was he going to mug her? Should she open the door?
"Coming . . . .."
Steph opened the door and was silent.

Atticus smiled at the lady.
"Why hello. My name's Atticus Miller, well, Private Miller actually. I was just taking my daily walk, " Atticus pointed behind him and wisped his brown hair out of his face. "And I noticed that this home now had a new owner! I'd like to welcome you to the neighborhood. I'm actually a rather new citizen to Abestat, but well, I thought maybe you'd like a little hello."
Atticus was steal beaming down at her.

Steph looked the man up and down. He seemed nice enough.
"Oh, why hello. My name's Stephanie Tree . . . most people call me Steph though." Steph smiled and opened the door wider. "Won't you come in?" Steph looked at him some more. "A private hun? Abestat Milita, right? Actually, I'm new to this neighborhood and Abestat. I'm glad you stopped by though . ." Steph was lost for words. She was immediatly friendly towards her first friend. Did she call him Private or Atticus? She contiuned . . . "Private Miller. Won't you come in?" Steph opened the door all the way.

Atticus hadn't expected to be let in the home so soon . . . but he decided it would be a shame to say no. So, he polietly entered.
"Why thank you . . . Steph! Thats very kind of you. Yes, I am in the milita. But you don't really have to call me Private. I don't really think of myself as in the military. Never killed anyone . . . at least, not yet. Usually I'll swing my sword for an hour or so near someone, and then they'll keel over from a heart attack! Nope, I'm not really that skilled." Atticus smiled. Modesty, was the key in begining friendships . . . or so he heard.
Atticus looked around for a chair to sit down in, and noticed a large chair awardkly placed.

Stephanie laughed.
"Oh Private Miller. You must think me a fool to put a chair like that in the center of the room. The home came like this. Furniture everywhere." She smiled.
"I hesitate to ask this, since I'm just getting to know you, but would you mind moving this and a few other pieces of furniture? I'd pay you. And seeing how you're so strong . . ." She looked up at him, taking note to his large biceps.
"By the way, I think it's great you have a steady military job, so I'd like to call you Private Miller . . . Private." She smiled.

"Oh now,Steph, you don't have to pay me! I'd do it for free any day. Now, this chair . . ." Atticus moved down towards the chair and bent his knees. Lifting up on the chair, he struggled to stand up.
"This chair is heavy!" The nerves is his arms were popping out, and his muscules everywhere were flexed to full size.
"Now, where would you like it Steph?"

Stephanie was surprised at this mans kindness. She even had to pay Mark to do this . . . yet the Private was doing it for free!
"Oh, well, right here in the corner. Thats fine." She saw herself staring at Atticus more than she intened to do. "Now, lets see, I think thats it for now. Won't you sit down? I'd love to here more about Abestat." She motioned towards the chair he had just moved, and sat down on the small couch besides him.
"So, whats the military like? I heard it's a steady job. Thats a great thing to have. I could never join it of course . . . but, being unemployed is never fun either. I'm a little short on everything right now. Every since the move and all."

Atticus sat down. He wiped his brow and smiled.
"Oh sure, it's a steady job alright. But boring too. Nothing's happening right now. I get payed 40 crowns a cycle to pick up trash and clean things. Not real fun."
Atticus cleared his throat. "But, why would you not be able to join it? There are plenty of women in the milita . . . if thats what you meant. Why, Sergeant Yarrow gets to boss me around . . . me being a Private and all."

Stephanie almost laughed.
" A woman . . . bossing a big guy like you around? Thats almost unheard of! No, I don't think I would ever join the military."
She looked into his soft blue eyes. "You know? It seems like, I've know you my whole life. But I know that I just met you. I'm really glad you stopped by." Steph moved over towards his chair but still sat on the sofa. Getting closer to him, she waited to see what he'd do.

Suddenly, as the two talked, Stephanie's door was knocked against: Knock, knock, knock.

Atticus smiled at her. He moved in towards her and put his hand on hers.
"Say . . . how'd you like to come down to the Tavern with me tommorrow night. I'd pick you up at your house maybe mid afternoon . . . and we'd have the whole night to ourselves." Atticus' eyes sparked with delight.
"I could show you around Abestat . . . and tell you more about it. Because it is getting rather late."

Stephanie looked at his huge, muscular hand against her long thin one.
"Of course Atticus. I'd love to." She smiled.
She heard a knock and got up. "Oh Atticus, excuse me. I must get the door."
She opened the door, "Serale . . . how can I help you?"

"Why thank you Stephanie for accepting. I'll see you tommorrow . . afternoon." Atticus nodded at the visitor and left her home.
