Seth's Storage Barn
Right next door to Leaps and Bounds, at the back of the Market Square stood a barn of approximately and equal size. The only entranceway into the building was guarded by a large human man with a naturally suspicious look on his face. He stared at each person entering the establishment with a piercing look that suggested he could actually see what they were thinking.
Once inside, the barn was a ramshackle place. One side of the building was lined with stalls for horses, and the occasional other pack animal, such as a donkey. Several carts and wagons had been lined up opposite. The rest of the building all seemed to be taken up with miscellaneous items. Bits of furniture mostly prevailed, Seth seemed to store everything from beds to kitchen tables. Dotted here and there were also wooden chests, containing people's belongings they had placed in safekeeping whilst they were out of the city.
Again, inside the place was monitored by guards employed be Seth, making sure no one took anything they shouldn't. Seth himself was a slightly scruffy looking man, with a mop of mousy brown hair and blue eyes that seemed to twinkle mecheviously for no reason. He was human, and his age was hard to guess, though most people would probably say he was in his mid-thirties. He wore plain coloured breeches, and a slightly creased dark beige waistcoat over an undyed linen shirt.
Noticing a new customer had entered the barn, he rubbed his hands together and approached, a welcoming smile on his face.
"Serale! Welcome to Seths! Need something put in storage? Or are you here to collect something?"

Upon leaving Leaps and Bounds Stable, Jotiwa turned in the direction pointed to by the helpful man of the stables. Seeing the building that he had spoke of, realized she just hadn't gone far enough. Glancing back at the horse and cart, she decided to leave them where they were until she was sure that the storage place was able to take them.
Walking over and entering the building of said storage, Jotiwa was immediately greeted by someone asking to help her."Serale, yes, storage please. I am in possession of my friends horse and cart, since he is injured and unable to tend them I need to find somewhere to store them so they are safe and provided for. Am I finally in the right place?" Giving the man a hopeful smile, Jotiwa glanced around the place, her green eyes widening at the variety of things stacked in neat arrangements.

"Yep, this is the right place alright!"
Seth gave a grin and held out his hand for Jotiwa to shake in greeting.
"Horse and cart you say? Well, I've got a stable open and ready for the horse, and the cart's no problem. Lets see... how big it the cart? Small? Medium. It depends see. If it takes up more space I'll have to charge you more, see. As for the horse, 40 crowns a cycle. That's for the space, and feed too. And we get someone from Leaps and Bounds to come over and give them a groom twice a cycle, too."

Seeing his out stretched hand in welcome, Jotiwa gave the bandaged right arm a quick frown and held out her good left hand, giving the man a awkward handshake.[i]Tomorrow I'm gonna leave this stupid sling at home, think I will just bandaged my wrist, that should keep it from getting infected from them sleazy saurids blades. Why did they have to attack the gates just as we came through? Then Jotiwa spoke to the welcoming fella, "Finally! You don't know just how long this day has been, and this is the first time I ever been on a horse. Well, that I remember anyway. And I didn't think my backside could take going any further," using her free left hand to rub the aching area she spoke of, "Guess I may have to get used to it though, if I ever plan on having one. Which I think I will." Her mind slipping off to the many things she would one day own, now that she wasn't a homeless urchin any more. Well almost not homeless, at least she had a room at the White Dragon and coins to buy a home, if she so desired.
"Oh, yeah, size! Hmm, dunno, maybe smallish I guess." giving a shrug of her shoulder and glancing around at the other carts that were in storage, "There! That one! It looks just like that one." She told him as she pointed at one that appeared to be the next to smallest of all the stored carts. "Mine are over at the door of the stables. I smelled horses over there first, so I thought that was the place, but I was wrong. Uhm, could you help me bring them over here? I really don't know much about horses and the strappie things and all. I asked the guy over at the stables if they offered horse lessons about riding and those strap things, but he said not there, to ask here. I don't need to know EVERYTHING about horses, just some of the basics. Like how to stay on one, with out pulling the poor things bald, I think I may have given that poor thing out there a headache, what with holding so tight to his hair, but I was scared of busting my butt if I fell off."
Jot had seen how Artis had held those strap things, but that hadn't given Jot much confidence so she had hooked her leg over those and held on for dear life, as she led the horse slowly through the town.
Jotiwa turned and left handedly waved the man on toward the door, without pausing much for his reply.
OOC: I hope ya'll realise that I do know about sentence fragments, reins, and manes. But our Jot doesn't barely breathe as she talks, and is a rather naive, unschooled young lady.

Seth gave another grin, this time an apologetic one when he saw the state of Jotiwa's wrist, and managed to shake her other hand briefly without too much trouble. His gaze followed her finger around the barn until it rested on one of the smaller carts stored in the establishment. He nodded
"Ah, no problem then, that'll be just 10 crowns a cycle for the cart. They don't need feeding, see?"
He scratched the stubble on his chin as Jot asked about learning a little more about the art of equestrianism.
"Well, sure, I can teach ya the basics. We don't specialise in looking after horses though, so me boys know a little of that, a little about how to rewheel a wagon, and such. Can't do it for free though. And that..." he nodded at Jot's wrist, "Might prove a bit of a problem when it comes to teaching ya. Know how long it's gonna take to heal?"

Jotiwa gave a musical laugh at his little joke of feeding the cart. Mentally calculating, 10 for cart and 40 for horse, not to bad. Then giving the man a beaming smile as he said that he could assist her in learning light horsemanship.
"Great, think I just need some basics. I will probably be riding over to Candaceburg in a few days, heard talk in the tavern abit ago that it may be an exciting place in the upcoming weeks. May even see if I can get a job when I visit. But as to this," indicating the sling,"I think the medic that bandaged me was a little over cautious. He said it was nothing major, but that I would probably be left with a scar on my wrist. But everything still works properly. Jotiwa pushed back the edge of the sling and gave her right fingers a wiggle, showing that they were still functionable. Think once I get back to my room at the tavern this evening, just gonna leave it off. Gonna save it though, never know when this much clothe may come in handy."
Having lived so long with no possessions of her own, Jotiwa with plans of a home of her own in the near future could think of many uses for such a thing. Of course bandages, which she hoped she would never again need, but also dying it to make decorative scarves or maybe even learning to embroider and using it as a throw when she got her own place.
Then realizing that she was off in la-la land, hurriedly went on speaking,"Well, what I mean is that with just a bandaged wrist, I should be able to do most lighter things although I was injured here to," opening her cloak to show the bandaged shoulder where the saurid had pierced her,"and the medic said to go easy, so I don't think I can lift much. But he didn't say not to ride or brush and feed a horse, or nothing."

Seth nodded as Jotiwa explained her injuries, idly wondering where the girl had got them. He peered at them, and agreed that they wouldn't get in the way of learning some simple grooming and such.
"You're right, they shouldn't affect the teaching of the care of the horse. Perhaps when we're done with that, they'll be a little better too, so I can teach you the basics of riding. Now... this won't come for free, of course. And teaching takes time away from my business."
Seth paused a moment, wondering how much to charge for the lessons. "Well, I'll charge you 100 crowns for the basic maintenance of the horse, and how to saddle it up properly, stuff like that. We could work out the price for riding once that's finished with, perhaps?"

Nodding her head as she thought over the price he had given, "Sounds good to me. I know I am taking you away from your busy schedule, but as I am free of employment at the moment, I can be flexible on what time of day. But I do need to find a job soon, so do you think we can just do a basics course and keep it within about a cycle?"
She gave him a smile as she waited for his reply and thought about the job oppurtunities that should be opening in Candaceburg with the tournament going that way soon. Maybe I will have the basics down enought, so that I may ride over there before my cycle is up at the tavern here, that way I will know whether to renew my room here or load up and move to tht city. Hopefully I will find Artis and gt htings settled with him by the time I know which.

Seth nodded again. "Sure, a cycle would be no problem. Hmmm... just turn up sometime tomorrow morning, and I can start teaching you. No need to pay until then. However, lets sort out your horse and cart first."
Turning around, the owner of the establishment scanned the building for any members of staff who looked available at the current moment. He nodded at made a 'come here' motion at a human man in his twenties, who wasn't doing anything imparticular.
"Kyal! Got a customer with a horse and cart outside. Help her get them in will ya?"
Kyal wandered over, nodded and gave Jot an aknowledging smile. Seth turned back to her, now looking for payment for the keep of her possessions.
"That'll be 50 crowns, please, then... oh, don't think I caught your name?"

"It's Jotiwa Jahansin, and your Seth, I take it?" Jotiwa answered as she clumsily pulled small amounts of crowns from her side pouch and counted them into his waiting hand. When she got to the needed amount she replaced the few she had still in her hand and tightened the pouch.
Then pushing her long hair back from her face, and hooking it behind delicate ears. Giving the older man a thankful smile,
"I'll see you in the morning then, thanks for your help."
Jotiwa smile brightened more as she turned to her young helper, "Serale, Kyal. They're over at the door of Leaps and Bounds next door, along with Cerwyx, that's Artis' puppy, I'm keeping him too, until Artis get's better. I wasn't sure where to bring them for stabling, and I smelled horse from there first. How you work around that odor day in and day out, I'll never know, but I guess you must get used to it. " babbling along as she led the young man out of Seth's and over toward the horse and cart."OH! I forgot!"
Jotiwa turned and ran back into Seth's and up to the owner, "Seth! I plumb forgot! Artis, the man who hired me and is now injured, the owner of the horse and cart has somethings in it. Can they just be stored along with the cart? If there is more charge, I'll pay that too. I thought about keeping it in my room over at the White Dragon, but that would mean lifting all of it up them stairs with this bad wrist and shoulder." her left hand raising again toward her pouch as she waited for his answer.

"Well then, pleased to meet you Jotiwa. And aye, I'm Seth!"
Seth counted the proffered crowns quickly, nodding briefly to confirm that the right amount had been handed over. He pocketed the change, then looked up at his customer again as Kyal, at Jot's instructions, went out to fetch the wagon and horse now that they had been paid for. Seth blinked a little in surprise at the girl's sudden exclaimation.
"Er... yeah, they can be stored in the cart. As long as they're not too valuable. We have to charge extra for things that are worth a lot, because of security and things."
The owner was aware that Jotiwa was about to leave the establishment, and held up his hand to pause her actions.
"Just wait a second. I have to give you a ticket. So when you or your friend come to collect the things again we know you're the rightful owner."
He led the girl over to a small desk that had been set up in the corner of the room, and pulled two stiff slips of paper, which the number '387' had been printed on.
"If you could just sign those, and take one with you, we'll know you're the owner of the things when you come back. Then you can be on your way."

"Well, as far as I know it's just some basic travel items and some smelly ole ferterlizer for his farm. I don't think anything valuable is in there." giving a shrug as she followed him to the corner desk.
Then leaning over the stiff parchment, her nose wrinkling as she labored to write her name out, not having much practise at writing with her good hand and now she was being forced to do it left handed! After a scribbly attempt she passed the writing utensil back to him with a grimace, "You'll have to do it, please?"

Seth looked slightly embarrassed at not realising that Jotiwa's injured wrist would prevent her from writing legiably. A slight grimace appeared on his forehead as he gently took the quill from Jot's hand and carefully wrote her name on both pieces of parchment.
"Terribly sorry. Shoulda realised that..."
Finishing up, he placed the quill back in it's stand and solemnly handed one of the pieces of parchment to Jotiwa.
"Keep that safe, and make sure you don't lose it. The other one I'll keep, along with a record of what you've got stored here. Just present it to one of the workers, or me, if I'm around, when you want it back, or come to make another cycle's payment."
Seth grinned at the mention of the fertilizer. "I dunno, I might have to charge you a bit more just to put up with the smell, in that case." It was clear the owner of the business was only joking though, and he gave a last look over the one remaining parchment on his desk, before giving an affirmative nod.
"Okay, that's everything sorted out then. I'll see you some time tomorrow. Oh, don't forget to bring the money for payment either."

Nodding as she listened to Seth's directions, Jotiwa carefully place the 'ticket' into her side pouch, "Maybe you should add Artis' name to it also, he might be the one to come pick them up eventually, since all of it is his anyways." tying of the pouch, making sure it was secure.
Her eyes opened wide as she heard him say.....charge you a bit more..... her head popping up to see the teasing grin. "Oh, you! I thought you were serious!" giving a laugh.
Pausing for a few seconds to make sure it was ok for Artis to pick up the things, if the poor fella made it through his injuries. Mentally planning when she could go find him and see how he was doing.

Seth grinned for a moment when he realised Jotiwa thought he was serious about the extra charge for the smell, if only for a moment. He nodded at the suggestion of adding the name of Artis to the ticket, and took the piece of parchment out again to quickly scribble his name on it.
"Right... if you just tell him to mention your name too if he comes to pick up his things, that should be fine..."
In the background, Kyal could be seen making his way back into the building, carefully leading the horse in Jot's care behind him. Seth merely nodded at the worker before turning his attention back to the customer.
"Right then, I think that's all? I'll see you tomorrow, then."
